I absolutely love this. I bought a house on a little under an acre 3 yrs ago. Didn’t know what i was doing, like no clue. The previous owner sprayed so much, weeds wouldn’t even grow. I have gone off of intuition and observing, a few tips here and there. I know have gardens, chickens, more life than any of my older neighbors have ever seen around here (western North Carolina ). It is unbelievably rewarding. I am learning so much and i look forward to what is next. Such an important contribution from both these men. thank you
Wonderful discussion! It's so empowering to hear the opinions of Takota Coen that exactly match with mine regarding growing food and cultivating the land. It's such rewarding work when you have the right attitude towards weeds, community etc.
I caught this because you posted it in x ) this is amazing content it covers so many topics, most I've herd you talk about previous takota also . but it's taken some interesting twists ,I hadn't expected, to much to mention
1 hours 20 ish min into this . I remember when you opened one of your irrigation culverts and there was a muskrat or beaver stuck inside..it was a funny memory of your old content
I use wild herbs growing on my property as medicine o or to even eat. Burdock root is exactly that; considered a traditional dish sauteed with Toasted Sesame oil and sprinkled with toasted Sesame seeds in Japan, I will have to look up the name of the dish which is considered an aphrodisiac. Burdock is very therapeutic to the liver.
At the 2hour mark, the conversation reminded me of what Larry Santana mentioned decades ago in a talk on permaculture and community. When someone approaches a group with the intention to join, its question needs to be, 'Why should we let you live?' :-) In other words, what and how many skills have you got, how valuable are you to the solvency of the whole, what will you contribute?
Tip: start your fruit trees from seed. It grows pretty fast. Apple seeds can be dry, for plum you need to perhaps open the shell, etc, follow other people's yt advice videos, all citrus seeds need to be sown fresh, hazel you easily start from unopened nuts in the ground. It's easy and cheep. ---- you could also buy baby trees, the way prices are going... 5 apples gives you a tree. Better buy the tree.
Good for you for understanding the concept of optimizing disturbance. There are lots of forms of disturbance something dying, a drought, a flood, a tree falling something that is overly successful. That will eventually choke itself out and die. The concert recovery and reestablish disturbance is very complicated and think about it on the small scale don’t rush to plant seeds in an area of disturbance of the fungi and bacteria other life forms to reestablish themselves think about a disturbed area as an open wound when it starts to heal around the perimeter is when you want to establish something elseto get it and start forward established around the periphery has a chance to reestablish itself necessarily in a rush to establish something or an open wound
We are all completely dependent on the larger geopolitical system. Let’s acknowledge that as small scale farmers we have to be producers, but we have to acknowledge that everything we do and everything we have is still dependent on the system. Let’s provide a foundation so that the system can transition without denying our complete and total dependence on it at least for the moment.
What if we didn't have to be? What if we aren't? I have no interest in changing the corrupt broken systems. I'm excited to build a new one while I watch the old one collapse.
@@specialkaypb I don’t think we disagree. I think we also have to acknowledge that the shoes were wearing the plates we eat on the sheets we sleep in the car we drive the gasoline. The cell phone are all dependent on the larger system and that as Farmer’s we have a capacity to transition from, a mindset of consumption to one of embracing a much lower energy and resource footprint, and leading the way to a new system through our own freedom by growing our own food and creating our own communities yet having empathy for the very many people, the vast majority who will be left out of the system that is yet to be formed. We have to be creative and imaginative, but many many people are not gonna make it through to the other side. The best that we can do is develop the skills and the community ourselves to grow the food and to use the system as it stands to try to, bring as many people in as possible in an effort to repair the planet. Everyone who is not part of the solution remains part of the problem. We have tools that are disposal now to really create local community economies, and yet inspire as many people as possible, globally to incrementally embrace a way of life with greater regard for life and the well-being of the planet in the future.
Any milking human woman can tell you being away from your baby causes mastitis and it's not cool, you just needed to ask a breast feeding Mom and save yourself some years of experiments. And also I love this episode.
Takota says that polygamous societies are determined by alkaline soils, because they lead to more female births. Yet there is no evidence I can find for this claim readily available -- does he have a source that we can review?
Young man five years does not make you a success five years gives you the opportunity to think of yourself as a beginner give yourself patience. This is a lifetime of learning.
Young man, be patient if you think you understand it. You really don’t give yourself the opportunity to do this for a while before you think you figured it out. I have socks that are older than you are and I’ve been doing this since before you were born it keeps getting better. The earths ability to regenerate and the systems complexity are much more than you can understand now, and much more than you will ever understand give yourself the opportunity to be humble and allow the systems to teach you for the rest of your life. That’s the true magic of farming relationship to nature.
You should do some more research about your understanding of polygamy versus monogamy. It’s much more complicated than that. It has to do with resource distribution and changes overtime and it’s more any equality of the sexes and more matriarchal power. It has to do with genetics and social evolution as well it’s not simply soil conditions.
It’s not a matter of putting carbon in the soil it’s a matter of growing more life, both animals and plants and encouraging total systemic diversity that allows the system to create more life and thereby sequesters more free carbon dioxide in store the carbon dioxide in carbon based life when that life dies it decomposes, the result of that decomposition is soil that is rich and carbon. You’re thinking about it backwards.
Lool only there's no such thing as "organic" anything anymore, even if you don't use any pesticides it's still all contaminated, all you have to do is look up for your answers ! All soils are contaminated! This is extremely misleading tbh !
Syntropy and negative entropy are two different terms referring to two different things. They have nothing to do with one another and you’re using both of the terms incorrectly.

Kindly...Give me your latest video link which is about autism
👀 What is that glass sphere emitting vapor on the shelf behind Takota❓❓❓
So, I looked up Lamb's Quarters and could discern from the nutritional profile of the plant due to zero percent mineral notations.
