As both a fan of the Stooges and The Jesus and Mary Chain, it doesn't bother me much. Same/similar riffs are gonna happen when they're pretty straightforward - I think it's best to try and view the song as a whole.
Also sound like the Buzzcocks 'Something Goes Wrong Again' Everybody copies somebody... As long as you make it your own, and believe me these guys did just that.
Sorry - this sounds phoned in and sapped of all energy. Check out footage from their performances of this song 20 years ago. And yes, while it is the same three chords in "I Wanna Be Your Dog," it's hardly worth getting worked up over. Plenty of songs have the same chord progressions - and plenty of JAMC songs use progressions from other old songs (The Beach Boys in particular).
It was nod to the Stooges (who they were fans of), they weren't trying to rip them off. The Stooges did the exact same thing on some of their songs like Little Doll.
just when you think Jim's lost his voice of old...
FUCKING AWESOME
This is the very best live version of this song that I have heard. They slow it down and take their time with it. They allow it to rest on you.
I think it was even better and heavier on the 2024 tour.
I just heard this song live tonight in Chicago on October 13, 2024 and it blew me away. Absolutely stunning!
@@jedendwatrzy4189 I saw them in Riverside a month ago and they were amazing!

the closes on details as spots machines, or people faces or a big traveling above everything...
wow
@ricardobjork The Stooge's riff is from "I Wanna be your dog"... (0:54 to 1:11)

I must have that black "Scotland" shirt/jersey William Reid is wearing. Anyone have a clue as to how I could find this?

Yes...but they know it and so does the audience. Welcome to Postmodernism, sonny 👍
