Drawers are my storage nirvana. It make it easier to put things away, no more moving boxes from top to bottom, and finding room to put them while I get the one I want. Drawers also make it easy to access when working so I don’t lose my mojo (yes squirrels).
Hi Girls,I did what you did with the hoops. I put a big peg board across the wall and now can see what hoops I have got. I renovated my sewing room by putting Shelves to store all my threads&Fabric that way they are all off the floor. Thank you for the great tips. I will take some of those ideas.Use an old book case to see my bolt fabrics. And now am getting ready for my new Aveneer to come to Australia. Not till Late November. Have got the Lumanaire3& the big 10 needle 1055X. Love them all.Love Brother Products.Would'nt buy any other brand of machines. Thank you again for a great show. Caroline(Queensland,Australia)
Thanks for another great show girls! It’s always inspiring to watch. I agree my best organization tip for my sewing studio is put everything on wheels.
Wheels are the best in the sewing room. I got fed up with things from cutting table to ironing board and back and forth. I went to dollar tree and got a container 13Lx8W. I also bought some cheap plastic cups. I glued 3 to bottom. I put things I’m always using. Scissors, markers, measuring tape, and measuring tools, tape, and few other things. I try & keep things I need most and will clean out each week to weed out things I don’t use that much. Right now I actually have it sitting on box for my Brother machine I use for travel. I do want to get a small table on wheels or a small rolling cart. It has reduced 95% of the from table to ironing board and my stress also.
I have a Horn Table - able to store my Luminaire - folds down and closes completely. Also has an area for hoops and the top of the embroidery machine as well as a place to put my serger. Wonderful table - didn’t see any like that at the quilting shows I have been to - most just have a large horizontal table.
Great ideas! For drawer storage I cut large rectangular strip labels of dry erase vinyl and write what is in the drawer on the label and place it on the drawer. Then I can change what's inside when I add/remove things or change drawers.
I use plastic garment bags, label the outside and hang the patterns, fabric, thread etc all in the same bag and put it in the closet until I sew the garment. You can do the same with any type pattern.
I cut fabric on my kitchen table and it all stays until I am done cutting my project. I had an old boyfriend from high school days stop in one afternoon to catch up and he took a look at that table and shook his head like “what is all this doing in the kitchen”. I saw his judgy look and thought…Phew, I dodged a bullet.
I feel seen. My cutting table is the landing zone for everything and then I can’t find anything 😮 Great suggestions now I need to keep myself accountable.
I have the Brother 500D, my new machine is the Brother M380D also have the straight stitch Brother PQ 1500sl . Love the pill box idea for needles. Not sure if I'm allowed to mention a designer that designed a machine carrier for small travel machines ( sew sweetness) made a cover for my 500D from another designer By Annie . My embroidery unit is also in a bag I hacked from Sew sweetness
Hi Frances! It sounds like a big task, but just think of the fresh, new space you'll have once the windows are in! Forced cleanups can sometimes lead to rediscovering forgotten treasures in the sewing room. ~tw

Hello everyone from Wyoming.

Love the frosting can idea. I use old spice bottles, but Iike the way you can also have a place for rotary blades.

i use a magnetic paper clip holder for safety pins.
that's a great idea!

You also have great ideas, Carrie! Thanks for watching and sharing! ~ms

The rod is a great tip to keep it from bowing out.

I use pegboard for my hoops as well
That is such a great idea, Teresa! ~tw

When I get loose leaf patterns, I use a binder with plastic sheets.
Having to do forced cleanup in my sewing room. Having windows replaced so things need to be moved away from windows.

I organize by machine model. It helps as some presser feet are different widths..
Great idea, Cynthia! ~pw
Would live to help you tidy up.

We should put a swear jar nearby and any time something that doesn't belong goes on the cutting table a monetary penalty goes in the jar!
Many scanners can scan film into photos
I have the Stellaire.
SEW fun, Jane! Thanks for allowing us to be at your side! ~pw
How big are your sewing rooms?
I commit to that.
Try Walgreens to see if they can developer your camera film..
I will try that - would hate to lose these photos ♥
I write the name of the machine on every hoop with a sharpy.
That's a great idea, Jane! Thanks for sharing! 💙~pw
