    It will probably be just like you said. 3.3 Ohm.

      Unless you intend to trigger the airbag Be careful since the ohm meter must apply a small voltage in order to generate a resistance reading.

    comments here are a sad commentary on the caliber of modern humanity.
    ..... I just did this for my very short and very light 85 year old mother who would probably be killed by a deployment. 2002 Prius. I used the 3.3 ohm 1/4 watt. This should work for most cars. They need to see a very low resistance but don’t measure it. The igniter is very high current, very short time, essentially a fuse that blows.
    The light refused to go out until I disconnected one battery cable and shorted it to the other to erase short term memory.....

      The reason the young man wired the 3 together (in parallel) is he could not locate 3.3 ohm components. Since he wired them in parallel the result is a reduction in the overall resistance of the 3 with a resultant increase in power capacity as you note. The computer in tis vehicle for the AB circuit is voltage sensitive therefore the result 3-3.5 ohms created by the parallel circuit will work. 3.3 ohm resistors are generally available to geeks like me if you know where to source. Basic resistors have a tolerance of 5/10% to the stated value so the three 10 ohm resistors in parallel will result in approx. 3/3.5 ohms. Just an fyi hooked in series the three would equate to approx. 30/35 ohms. If I recall I believe this airbag circuit will recognize 3.3 to 5 ohms as bag in circuit and thus not energize the dash light. To those who suggested "just remove the light" I would strongly advise against even attempting that unless you are experienced with solid state dashboard instrumentation and disassembling the dash to access the components! Kudos to the young man for putting himself out there via this informative post:)

    • @323spy
      @323spy 6 лет назад +8

      yeah. Wiring them up in series would add the resistances. It's not like wiring electricity in series. Two 10 ohm resistors in series would equal 20 ohm of resistance because there is only one flow current which faces 10 ohms of resistance then another 10 ohms of resistance further down the circuit. By wiring them in parallel you are giving the current 3 paths to flow through so it faces 10 ohms of resistance and takes the next path of least resistance in parallel, and in this case it does it 3 times equally. Taking 10 ohms and dividing it by 3 paths. Resulting in 3.333333 ohms of resistance. That being said, anything between 1 and 4 ohms should work. These are the readings that the control modules are designed for. So using a single 2 or 3 ohm resistor would work just as well.

    its funny listening to people that didn't get an education in electronic engineering.
    10 ohms and 3.3 ohms is very big difference. I'm sure you didn't need that much resistance. just helping out.

      yeah, its called a load. you could have measured the resistance of the part you disconnected and that would have given you a starting point.

    • @Stambo59
      @Stambo59 6 лет назад +3

      The part that was disconnected was the airbag, good luck with measuring the resistance on that, use the wrong meter and it will go off in your face.
      It also has a shorting bar so that it would read 0 resistance even with the right meter.

      Three 10 ohms resistors connected in parallel will give you value of 3.3 ohms :)

    Without an Airbag my jaw would probably be messed up pretty bad right now

      how do you know this for sdure when you didnt try it without an airbag? go and disable air bag and do the saem wreck again adn then post back rsults plz. personally i dont own drive any vehicles with airbags... they are garbage pos stupid as fuck imho. and always problematic and faulty ignitor and so on anyways, i will stick with my 1975 C20 truck. it odnt evne have shoulder belts form factory.. screw all that dumb shit.

      89imp03 aight or alright. It’s still wrong.
      Secondly check your airbag status lights. It is the total resistance iN SERIES the Ecu is looking for.
      In other words the bulb is included. Make what you want of that. It’s called rationalization. Aight

      doing this reactivates the airbag system for the passenger after removing the stock steering wheel, doesn't change much for you as the driver but it keeps your passanger safe.

      replacement drivers airbags are NLA for my lovely D2 S8, so it is either scrap the car or do something like this. Apparently the airbag that I have is dangerous and Audi won't fix it.
