- 3 cups of cake flour ,2 teaspoons of baking powder ,one teaspoon of salt ,2 sticks of butter, 1/2 cup Crisco shortening ,two cups of sugar ,1/4 teaspoon of baking soda, 5 eggs, 1 tsp of coconut extract, half a teaspoon of vanilla extract and 3/4 cup of milk.
glaze -2 cups of powdered sugar and 3 to 4 tablespoon of milk add more if needed.
toppings-1/4 cup coconut and 1/4 cup of nut any can you like.

Thank you for this recipe and more importantly your method. I never knew how much butter, sugar & eggs needed to be creamed together. I never knew till I watched your videos that creaming these ingredients would produce such a light and fluffy foam. I always watch your videos, and this has to be the 4 or 5th cake I've made. These cakes always come out so light and fluffy. And, yes the internet is a blessing for the home cook, there's no way that a written cookbook could relay all of this technique.
I'm holding out for Fried Chicken, Catfish Steak, and Cole Slaw like they do them in MS. lol

I am from the south and I don’t know anyone who puts shortening in cakes. Shortening is used in making dough, such as biscuits etc. but not in cake. This is new to me.

Chef, if a cake recipe requires buttermilk can I use the sweet milk and add the lemon juice or vinegar to it to substitute for the buttermilk. Not sure if that's ok for my cakes.
Yes you can use whole milk sweet milk add vinegar make sure you do it 30 minutes prior to use so that it have time to turn
They check your receipt to make sure you are not stealing. You don’t need training to steal. By the way, you didn’t say what temp to bake the cake and how long to bake it. Don’t get upset about the stores checking receipts, they only do it because so many people are stealing these days and when people steal, the stores pass those prices on to the public. So really it’s in the interest of the customer that they check the receipts.
