Now that is great. A bloke fulfilling an ambition without the local authority hindering him and it sounds like enthusiastic local help.
I love this channel, Paul and Rebecca's enthusiasm and the effort they put is is heart warming, loverly couple.
If you are ever near me in south west Bedfordshire there will be a cup of tea and biscuits available for you.
That’s amazing - as a planner, I’d love to have seen the planning application for it 😀
It’s a brilliant idea and it has been beautifully executed!
Thank god for people like Tim! Bonkers, slightly eccentric people who do projects like this. Great film - Loved it!
The human urge to leave a lasting imprint is a fascinating phenomenon in itself.
After seeing a 15 ft. tall cobblestone pyramid in a park in a small town near me I've been thinking of making my own, without considering why I want to. That intro really spoke to me.
Brightling?
@@wilfbm9067 - No, that's 'Mad' Jack Fuller's tomb. It's made of dressed ashlar slabs. I'm not even sure if he's still in there, but moved to a normal grave. He was supposedly interred sitting at a table, with playing cards. Fuller was a local squire, in the 18th century, who loved gambling. One night, he went a bit too far, and drunkenly bet a huge amount of money, that he could see a distant church spire from his bedroom window. When he awoke the next day, he remembered the bet, and was horrified to see a hill in between him and the spire. He went out, and, with some workmen, built a simalcrum of the spire that could be seen from his bedroom, to win the bet.

That is astonishing. I love prehistoric structures, always have, since I was a child. I'd love to have my ashes interred there. (Although I don't intend to go for a good while just yet). It just seems 'right' to me. Like all the great burial chambers, it's set in a place with a hell of a good view.
Tim, you're a genius.
Thank you.
I wish there were more of these! The thought of somewhere so beautiful that families could visit their lost loved ones, is a great comfort. 👏👏
Wow. That place is truly amazing. Isn't it fantastic to have people like Tim still wanting to do the odd stuff. Well done, yet again, to Paul and Rebecca for bringing this to the masses 😍
What a wonderful idea loved this thank you for your videos.
Thanks for watching!
Beautiful video. I found the intro so moving. Thank you for doing what you do.
I visited the West Kennet Long Barrow in 2016. It was an awesome and ethereal experience. My brother and I recreated the scene from Dr Who: The Daemons story!
They filmed that in our village when I was a kid, a very exciting experience, I wish I could remember more of it. 52 years ago :O
Wonderful idea...I couldn't imagine the trucks of stone through the country roads but really lovelly !!
Thanks for the Long Barrow video today. Astonishing architecture from the past. Cheers Paul. 😊
what an amazing idea we need more if this! i would love my remains to spend the rest of time in a place like that.
Likewise shayne
Ha ha, I used to work for Tim on his farm when I was a teenager a long time ago. Barrow looks amazing. Always wondered what it was like inside. Nice video. Thanks
I could feel my ancestors for a moment, the connection - what a great idea. Your topics are always interesting!
This works for me. Thanks for taking us there.
really interesting video again Paul and Rebecca , would love to visit it one day , really well done and thank you guys 😊
I love this. It's insane and incredible at the same time. It reminds me of Time Team recreating little things from the past, but this guy took that to another level, and it has a purpose too. Awesome!
What an absolutely brilliant idea! Kudos to Mr Daw. And thanks for bringing this to us who will most likely never be able to get there in person, Paul and Rebecca.
Beautifully Incredible how something like this, from an idea, can be brought to life. The filming, the editing, the interview, were each done with great respect for each other's thought's and feelings. What a Beautiful place ♥
Wooo. That was fascinating. What a great idea he had.
Is it possible to visit it?
Thank you. Great as always and really different.
Thanks Pauline. Yes, you can visit anytime. I think access would be restricted inside though to timed appointments.
When I get to the UK I must see this amazing structure! Great Video Paul!
That is absolutely WOW, an amazing break from ur norm vids and if that was my county, a place I'd wanna rest me bones or dust. Thanks to u both.
Completely mad as a box of frogs..... but what an utter genius. Wish I knew about the allocation of spaces. I would have had one for when I pass on. Tim, the world needs more people like you. Thank you Paul & Rebecca for introducing us to this story.
Nice, that is a magical landscape. I spent a summer working out of Pewsey in the early 00's and loved it.
wow, now that is an impressive structure! great video Paul, thank you 👍👍
This is rather amazing
Yet again you have nailed it folks, a really professional production with great questions and answers. What a smashing chap Tim Daw is. Thank you, knew nothing about this before your video.
The inside of this structure is incredible! Not what I thought from seeing the outside of the barrow.
I knew nothing about this. Thanks for doing a video about it and filling me in!
True experimental achaeology, wonderful.
Very interesting, thanks. Living in Manitoba, I liked Tim's woolly hat!
Well. You can't get any more different. I like his style. This will puzzle archaeologists in a few hundred years time.
Brilliant. Thank you
I love your channel. I live in the US and I have always wanted to visit the UK. Now I don't have to, I have your channel...jk
Do it anyway. Most of it is like Detroit on a bad day but once you get into the countryside it is like those Lord of The Rings movies. Oddly enough because it is.
What an extraordinary man and structure, all power to the community that got behind and supported this, magnificent
Great video. @Paul even if you never make your own lasting mark on the land, do remember you've already made a significant and much loved mark on the Internet.
Oh and BTW you might want to move your copyright onto 2023 for the final slide.
Excellent and soulful. Many thanks.
Our monolithic heritage beckons from the deep past young man, heed the callings of our ancestors. I sense it moves you.
Amazing! Thanks for another really interesting video. 👍
Lovely Long Barrow
Great modern take on our ancestor's ways. Thank you 🙏🙏
Wicked, and it was not made for profit, well done all involved....
Truly remarkable! I didn’t know anything about this even though it’s in my old stomping ground. What an achievement, and what a test of skill and ingenuity. It wouldn’t stay up if I had done it!
Although I’m mainly a canal, railway, tunnel, person, I was also captured by the mystic landscape of the Wiltshire downs as a youngster and did much walking in those days, gaining a very strong interest in the numerous old earthworks and tumulus mounds in the area.
Fantastic!!!
Fascinating and amazing - thank you for bringing this to us !
It sure made a change from building thousands of houses that fill every where up x totally excellent 👌
Delightfully evasive answer to the "How much cost?" question, one of all-time best, in fact! One assumes, or hopes, that specifics are discreetly available to the properly credentialled, showing legít interest.
Loved this Episode ! Thank you for making this happen and Cheers from California 😊
Grand work Paul sharing a great project.
Very nice indeed!
Many thanks!
Something different but really enjoyed the video.... love to know what the planners were really thinking when applying for a Longbarrow
Wow. In awe. Thanks for sharing guys!
Great stuff.
You need to update your copywrite date on the final page though !! 😉
Thanks, will do!
Wow that was fantastic. What a great idea. Thanks for the share. Please take care
A truly wonderful structure with a wonderful purpose.
Great vid - we need people like this
Absolutely amazing and I had no idea this had been built. A good find on your part which made a very interesting watch 😌
What an awesome vid! The way it looks, the way it looks inside, just wow! Nicely done Paul!
There are dozens of hidden tombs throughout the UK mainly on mostly former estates near me in Stirling,Scotland there was at least 7 one of which is of an 18th C rich farmer who had a fortified tomb built closed by a portcullis "out of reach of the Resurrectionists " (Bodysnatchers) opposite his farmhouse!
I've walked to the barrow so many times from the canal, but never seen inside. Now I know! And great to hear from the guy who got it built.
One of the coolest things I've seen in a very long time. Thanks for sharing, Paul.
I love a good adventure. You two are delightful. Xxx thankyou
Very interesting, thank you for the upload.
Absolutely beautiful, I'm a local and had no idea of the place, a new place to visit thank you.
Very cool structure Paul thanks for sharing
Wow what an amazing thing to do and see. What an experience for you. Thank you for sharing this with us.
That is great, this is magical as they were back in time. Home of the dead or visiting you gran or your great gran. Or the first of your family. Telling them your kids names, it seems right.
Amazing 👏.
Amazing!
Such a beautiful piece of art, amazing!!!
Wow. That just touched a very old nerve somewhere in my soul.
It would be wonderful to think that future generations would still be able to access your videos. That would be really making your mark. You're going to have to write a book .... but not a digital one!!
Great to see someone have a dream and see it through to completion.
Great video!!
Good luck from Spain!!
An inspiring project and a beautifully produced film. I salute you.
Thanks!
Absolutely fascinating! I noticed clips from Carnac in the (very well done) introduction. Do you have a video from your visit there?
Brilliant video as always
absolutely loved this👍
I'll look out for it, the next time that I walk the Kennet and Avon Canal path.
Fascinating and interesting.
An amazing idea and to actually do it! Mind blowing.
Fascinating idea! Is this a purely private location or is it open to the public to visit?
You can visit anytime, however only externally.
Loved this video and the intro.
Wow is all I can say! 🇨🇦
Years ago I had the idea of buying land that had an old barrow on it and making it available as an resting place for the ashes of Pagans. I never had the capital to realise this. Great to see how this guy has done it and I love his design and creation.
A real achievement and well worth the effort.
Damp proofing, disabled access... oh, good grief! I should think not! Fantastic concept..♥.
That is amazing. It looks peaceful.
Fascinating; what a nice idea, we could do with one up here in Snowdonia.😇
Awesome!
Fantastic looks like it's been there for ages fits in with the mystic Wiltshire country side
I really appreciate the beautifully written introduction
What a lovely idea ❤
Fabulous!
Really interesting as ever and a really nice chap. Why do I spend every Sunday early evening setting up OS maps on my computer to find out where you've been this week? Don't answer that! 😃
Well done
Another great video. We do indeed want to leave some mark that will be there when we are gone. Sometimes it's graffiti, sometimes its RUclips videos, and sometimes it's a long barrow. I love it.
Wow 😮 You stamping grounds are very close to where I grew up and so not on,y enjoying old stations and canals, do do it ‘on my turf’, but this one? Just … wow
Well what strange things you find hidden away in the country side!!! 🤔🚂🚂🚂
Tim is such a great chap
(Probably plays a lot of Minecraft...!)
What an amazing thing, place and man....terriffic film.
