Thanks for the video. Can it be connected to an external battery for parking mode? Can parking mode detect motion or just bumps? Does the parking mode have a maximum time limit (24-48 hours) or can it last depending on the charge of the external battery? When it detects motion do both cameras record?
Hey Manuel! Glad you enjoyed the video. Yes you can connect it to an external battery for parking mode. I myself have the fuse kit that cost around 30 dollars which uses the cars battery to stay powered and in parking mode while the vehicle is off. The benefit with this module is that the camera will know when the vehicle is turned off and automatically go into parking mode. I’ve let my car sit for over a week and the camera was still recording so the battery will last you plenty long. And what’s great is it won’t drain your car battery. Let’s say you leave it for weeks and weeks, the fuse kit monitors the battery voltage and will automatically shut off if it gets below a certain voltage. That way your car battery isn’t dead when you go to start it. In parking mode it will detect motion not just bumps. Or you can set it to only detect bumps with the G sensor. And yes when it detects motion both cameras record. Hope this helps! 😁
When you wired the dash cam in fusebox can you open the app anytime? Even though you far from your car or you have to be at least 6ft far from your car? I just installed my vantrue e2 and im still figuring out the device.
Glad you enjoyed! I use my OBD port quite often and the fuse kit has the module that will turn off automatically so it doesn’t drain my battery. It all comes down to personal preference. For me it looks cleaner having all the wiring tucked away.
Great video. I found the instruction manual less than helpful. You addressed a lot of the questions that I had about this. Looking forward to installing it this weekend
Great video. Just another question about the parking mode. I currently have a OBD hardwire kit on my Vantrue S2. If I use this same connector on the E2, will it trigger the parking mode after I turn off the engine?
One of the better more detailed reviews. Though I do wish a little more testing had been shown regarding the parking feature. I have a car I'd like to protect and that is a huge feature for me. Otherwise, your review is still much better than a few other's I've seen.
Great video! I want to learn if you can mount the rear camera on front windshield and use as a cabin camera that views inside and the back end of the car at the same time. If so, would you mind doing a video on installation and what accessories needed to make this a success? Thank you.
Great video, but can you do a follow up one about the parking mode please? - How long roughly it will record for - How sensitive the motion detection is - How sensitive the impact detection is
I can keep that in mind for the future but those are all adjustable in the settings! You can adjust how sensitive the impact detection is and when triggered it will record for several minutes.
@@budgetconsumer Yeah I understand how it works. I just wanted to know whether you had tested it all and if it's overly sensitive when parked on the side of the road or in car parks etc and is constantly triggering and draining the battery?
If the camera senses movement very far away it won’t trigger the recording. Only when movement is close to the vehicle will it start recording. Personally I would use the motion detection over impact detection. If someone slams their door into your car it might not jolt the vehicle enough to trigger recording. With motion detection you’ll have a lot more files but that’s good just on the off chance something does happen. Always good to be prepared. As I show in the video there is a tiny module that will turn off the camera when the battery drops below a certain point. Since recording the video I have had my car sit for over a week on the side of the road with a lot of movement and when I went to start my car it started up fine no problem. This camera is definitely the most efficient as far as power consumption.
@@budgetconsumer Thanks for the information. When you had the car parked up for over a week, how long did parking mode actually keep recording for during that period, before the cut off point was reached to save the battery from fully discharging?
I had recordings for every motion detected up until I started the car again. Of course the SD card was pretty full. When I walked up to it after a week and a half to test the camera it detected my motion and started recording. Battery voltage was still good
Great review. Appreciate the in-depth information. I just purchased this dash cam after looking around. I previously used a cheap one from Amazon and found it didn't do have the stuff it promised. The build quality on this product looks to be solid as well. When updating the firmware do you lose all the settings such as license plate info you entered?
You don’t have to update unless you want to. If the current version you’re on is working then stick with it. And you can always check the website to see if they add new features in an update!
Are you able to mount the rear view camera by the front view camera and use it as a cabin view camera plus rear view? If so, would you mind make an installation video? Thank you.
Hey 👋 my car has the DAB radio antenna etched into the rear windscreen along with the demister, any idea if that will that cause any issues/radio interference? (Car had radio issues when i bought it when the rear demister was turned on in winter the radio would stop working, Audi replaced the back window under warranty) this got me thinking maybe the previous owner had a dashcam fitted and it damaged the antenna lines or something.
@Velocity0428 All cameras detect motion, I would say anything within 50 feet or so will trigger recording and I believe there’s an adjustment for the sensitivity. It will pick up anyone coming near your car or any cars driving by
How-question incoming. My wife said she can’t get the voice to work, maybe it’s not turned on, we’ll figure that out later. It’ll be a lot easier if I know WHAT TO SAY. Do you just say “record video”? That’s what I had her say. Also why not demonstrate the voice command? That’s a more helpful and inclusive review.
I didn’t see a need to include that since it’s pretty straight forward. The list of commands is in the manual and on their website. There is no action word to initiate the voice commands. You just need to loudly and clearly say the command. You should be able to adjust the microphone settings if you’re having issues
I'd like to get a shorter cable to connect the front and rear cameras. I have tried two different usb-c to usb-c cables that have not worked properly-they supply power to the rear cam but the app does not detect the rear cam. Do you have any advise?
I still have one question Parking mode Does it enter parking mode automatically when I turn off the engine Or do I need to activate it I do have the parking mode set for motion Once I turn off the car I don’t see anything showing that it’s on or in parking mode ??
Hey Ronald. So in order for parking mode to work you need to have the camera hardwired into the fuses. This is how the camera knows when your vehicle is running or turned off. When the vehicle is turned off the battery voltage will drop to about 12.6 volts compared to around 14.6 when running (since the alternator is charging the battery it’s higher) Once the vehicle is turned off parking mode will automatically engage after 5 minutes of not detecting any motion. Great review with good detail. Appreciate the polarizing filter / CPL detail.
Thanks for the video. Did you have to manually zoom in to get a pic of the license plate? Or did it do that automatically?
Hi great video thank you. Question how does it perform on bumpy roads like mountain trails. in other words the shock performance..
Great review, best I’ve seen. But why tapping into the fuses when you can buy the OBD power adapter?

I just got the same one hardwired at Best Buy. 😊

Thank you for the feedback! I will definitely keep that in mind for a possible future video. Is there anything in particular you are wondering about?
Is the OBD kit safe to use, or can it drain the battery if the car is parked for ~a week?
Definitely safe to use, there’s a module that turns the dashcam off if the battery goes too low. I’ve used it without any issues!
Great video! I want to learn if you can mount the rear camera on front windshield and use as a cabin camera that views inside and the back end of the car at the same time. If so, would you mind doing a video on installation and what accessories needed to make this a success? Thank you.
The Vantrue E3 has a cabin camera too. It’s on the back of the main camera
That’s right! Hopefully I will be able to show you that in the future
Great video on this product.

Can you make out the licence plate when the vehicle is moving. I would expect every camera to be able to make out a stationary license plate
Look at the video. I compare side by side
Does the hardwire kit eliminate the need for the 12V DC/Cigarette lighter power cord?
Yes it does! It looks much better with the wiring tucked away

How is the video quality of the camera at night?? Currently debating on the e2 or x4s dual pro
I show it in the video. It does a good job.
The hardwire kit you linked is different to the one you used.
It looks liked Vantrue updated there hardwiring kit. It should still work the exact same way. If you end up getting it let me know how it works.
How is this dash cam holding up today? I'm interested in this one after my Red Tiger died after a year
It’s been going strong. Incredibly reliable. I actually upgraded the the Vantrue E3. With the interior camera. Working on another review soon.

Good review but it would've been better if you also included how motion detection behaves.
Can you elaborate on that? I’ve tested this dash cam further after this video. Do you have a specific question?

I don’t understand why you need to hook it to your fuse panel Or battery when you can plug it into a 12v plug that is always hot
Not all cars 12v car socket is always hot. Mine is an Audi so the sockets aren’t powered unless the car is on
That’s true I have 1 in the front on my van out of them all that’s powered so I probably am lucky to have that now a days
Does the rear camera detect Motion in Parking mode or does it detect motion only on front camera?
It detects both
I'd like to get a shorter cable to connect the front and rear cameras. I have tried two different usb-c to usb-c cables that have not worked properly-they supply power to the rear cam but the app does not detect the rear cam. Do you have any advise?
Unfortunately there isn’t one that I know of. I have mine spooled up in the back. Otherwise you can tuck it away in a trim piece
can i store on my phone using wifi instead of sd card?
You sure can, you would have to use an SD card initially but you can transfer it to your phone and then delete it from the SD all within the app

Does it enter parking mode automatically when I turn off the engine
