Pushover, bad mother, selfish... Not so sure about that. If she stayed with her husband for the sake of her child, she would continue to live a miserable repressed life. Why should she condemn herself to that fate? She knew, as the family's little prince, her son would have everything needed to grow up with care and attention. She, on the other hand, didn't have the wherewithal to come close to that level of support. The court would never grant her custody. Gaining her freedom and arranging for visitation was the best she could do for her and him. Through these visits, her son would see his mother in her own environment without the oppression and influence of others. She would have the freedom to communicate sincerely and treat him in the manner she desired.
Living with grandparents could never make up for not having a mother. I was raised by my grandmother, who never cared if I came home on time or if I ate breakfast, lunch, or dinner. My mother couldn’t handle five kids, each just one or two years apart, so I hated her for years. But when I had surgery at 17, she stayed by my side, and from that moment, I began to love her.

To show that he was extremely disadvantaged but still raised them to adulthood and that despite what little he could do, they ended up in good colleges and jobs. He did his best and if it wasn’t for her pos husband the fl would have a great adult life.
She was trying to climb out of poverty, then trying to please the snobby household she married into only after his death regretted her choice to shun her father, but then her child did the same to her.
She's not a bad mother they poisoned her son against her, and she realized that he would be fine without her. There's a time to cut your losses and move on.
@@brightlight8852Nah, she's a terrible mother. She has no backbone & chose to run instead of standing her ground & taking back her child. Even if the family is powerful & rich, she still has a mouth & rights. What type of mother abandons her child after finding out he is being abused? She saw that he was scared, desperately pleaded with her to stay with him at least the night (because the poor kid was terrified), & saw that he was injured & in pain. He extended his hands because he needed HIS MOTHER. But she saw his gestures as "he & his father are working together to manipulate ME". She neglected her kid too, when he most needed her. After finding out he was abused, she walked away knowing he was terrified & injured. She left HER SON, with a father that abandoned his son & wife FOR MONTHS, & the grandparents that are spoiling him & raising him with no values. But you respect a man who refuse to pay ransom for his wife because his mistress ask him not to. Slap her at her dad funeral for a mistress. She did what she had to do. Abuse by his parents but he did nothing to protect her. What the point of being married to a man when you can’t even get basic respect from your husband.
I have witnessed mothers whose husband shows them no respect are equally disrespected by their children.
