I watched the clip. I would say I am a Fan since 18 years. I know the shows with Richie and one show(2013) without. I also have experiences with entertaining people. What I see is Jon with support band. I don't mess up with Phil. He is a great guy. Jon and Richie had together a special chemistry. This is missing and not replaceable. The sound for sure changed. It's not a specific riff or note anymore in there.

With or without Ritchie, they would not be making songs like those now. As Jon himself said, those songs are great to write when you're in your 20s or 30s, but they are not songs that anyone would write in their 50s.
Yes, sir! It sounds even better live! Still miss a decent guitar solo for this. Something more soulful for the mood of the song than just striking same notes and going up in the end.

I've changed my mind on this song. I don't like it. It's not awful and I would be able to forgive its softer nature if "Walls" was actually a rocker but I can't and it isn't. "Walls" is a better song, perhaps, but the laid-back pop feel of that song pisses me off more than the mediocrity of this one. But I wrote a song to: It breaks my heart! John Shanks is to blame! "When We Were Us" Is kinda lame! I'm not of the mind that Bon Jovi needs Richie. They don't. But the kiss of death to the band was when Jon decided it was a good idea to make John Shanks his new right-hand man. That was stupid, Jon-boy. As a producer, he was tolerable and he still is when Billy Falcon co-writes and has creative input. But when it's just him and Jon, we get uninspired mediocrity and over-the-top pop production that's no better than modern Carrie Underwood or Katy Perry. You're a rock back. Be a rock band and screw this U2/Coldplay sound. It's boring and uninspired.
