Ali Hillis as Lightning was just awesome! Great job Ali for giving us a great voice acting for one of the best female protagonist in a video game.
And so many people complaining about Vanille's English voice- if you understood Japanese, you'd know she was annoying in Japanese, too. Both voice actresses did what they did to portray the character. In English, she was perky; In Japanese, she talked like a baby girl. Just because you don't understand the language, it's not annoying to you. You know?

@@gorillazzillathemeh5897 I love Vanille's voice in both languages. All of the voices in the game are amazing for both languages. They crushed this game with all things audio - especially the music and voices.
Did you know that Lightning voice in japan is also the japanese voice of Aerith from FFVII Advent Children??😲

Maaya Sakamoto is one of the top Japanese voice actors. I love her voice.
Oh Maaya, everytime I hear her it's Aerith, or Haruhi, or Chrona, or Ciel...I love her so much! Her work as Lightning was awesome as well, and Ali's voice is so deep and serious, I like it too! ^^

I thought all the English voice-actors for the main cast were brilliant, especially Snow and Sazh's.
Troy Baker is fuckin' amazing.
I usually prefer the japanese over American dub but this is an exception they were all great and it fit the personality perfectly

Holy christ, Laura Bailey was Serah?? Last time I heard her voice was in Saints Row 3- as the one of the female boss voices! XD I'm gonna be imagining Serah every time now!

i think this is the only game where i accept the English dub! they are the best. it's not that i like the celebrities, but their skills that got me to approve of it as a fan. they are truly amazing.

When I first played the game(English dubbed) and saw Hope and his character,I was thinking that Yuki Kaji can definitely do a good job voicing him!!Hahaha.Hope reminds me of Shu Ouma from Guilty Crown and they share the same voice actor!What a coincidence!! XD
You should of taken out the music when they were talking. I had to put my ear on the speakers to hear -.-

The way hope sounds in English is actually really different when Vincent speaks casually and nirmally

Fellow Australian.I think the term is Broad Australian from what we got taught in Eng Lang. Don't you think it's funny how the American, at least imo, pulled off a better Australian accent than the actual Australian (Vanille's VA)

lightning i know as the asari liara, her sister i know from another show as a cocky kid, that fuses with another kid to become the most arrogant child i have ever seen, gotenks.
snow is well hes also in naruto hes reprising as pain, and yamato, sazh is killer bee, hope, vanille and fang, nothing, orphan also appears in naruto as sora, the pseudo jinchuuriki, ahh the glory of english dubs, boy i like this

@untseac And FYI, I don't think Snow seems stupid at all in the English dub, though a lot of people seem quick to say he does -- he's trying his damndest to just look like a hero and convince himself that he is one, to help take the load off all his friends and push himself to the level at which he must be to go on. And as for Hope, you do realize that very often male voices change earlier than 15, right? I know a 12-year-old who sounds much deeper than Hope. He sounds very young to me.

I read in an interview the reason that ali made lightning's voice more deep and textured was because her and the director felt that for a western audience that kind of sound carried strength better. But whatver decision they made had to be discussed and approved by square enix. They had the right to tell them "no her voice should be lighter" but they were OK with the NA interpretation
Vincent Martella did a SUPERB job voicing Hope.
The moment you realize that Lightning's english voice is the damm Liara T'Soni.
I hear it, it looks like voice actors whom have a singular voice they're known for isn't exclusive to the Japanese side, some of these western voice actors will bring that one voice to any characters they voice

For me, I think the reason the english voices sound better is because the way the characters look seem to fit the voice. The characters just look like they speak english aha

I think the English voice actors match the characters a little bit more in general. I love all of the actors though, all very talented. I did love Japanese Hope(Yuki) especially, both were splendid!

Plus I'm straight, but I gotta say that Troy Baker is an Adonis. I wish I had his face...and his muscles...and his voice...and whatever lady skills he has.

I never played the game, but I have seen (more than) a few clips. I really didn't mind the English dub mostly (since I heard it first). But Lightning's Japanese voice makes me feel her fragility and strength more... (whereas with the English, even though obviously it's my language... not so much?)
I think Snow and Hope's English dub is... fitting if they were English (I can imagine a boy like Hope, for example, not.. "too mature"?) Although Snow's character was grating to me at times

I think Celas one is much better in english. Serah's japanese voice fits her better as well (the english one doesn't sound "childish" enough). All the other ones are very similar and equally good. Japanee voice actors are usually REALLY good and MUCH better than U.S. ones though
