You fucked yourself pretty well Arch, buying expensive luxury items on credit. That is a good 18% interest per annum. Better get rid of those ‘clanky’ looking watches fast to reduce your debt ASAP.
I know the feeling. Nothing like owning a Rolex. Get rid of the POS citizen garbage and get yourself a respectable watch like an Omega, Cartier santos, Rolex, and feel proud again.
@estatesla ...Had Omega...Cartier..Patek..etc...don't care much again about luxury timepieces. It's not a good investment...I am glad I cash them out...
eBay in America takes 15% on total amount of the sale up to $1,000 calculated per item, 6.5% on the portion of the sale over $1,000 up to $7,500 calculated per item, and 3% on the portion of the sale over $7,500. I’d say just let them broker the deal as they authenticate it before it goes to the buyer, which helps with any funny business.
He makes a lot of good points. You should always mark your investments at the bid, not the ask. Buy bullion for a long term security if money goes bad. Buy watches to wear, assume its worth the melt value when you walk out the store. Mass produced items made by robots are always subject to continuous decline, like sports cars and other luxury items. I lost 20% owning a couple of Porsches over 3 years. Did I have fun, yes. Did I expect to lose money, yes. If I bought watches with the proceeds I would expect the same result.
watch investing was never alive.... it was as with most other things during Covid.... a artificial shortage... But most Rolex watches are a great store of value... I recently got a GMT Meteorite at the AD for $44600+$4000 in sales tax... I walked out of the dealer with $10,000 in instant equity incase I had to sell it, but I'd never do that.
got my 39mm with the white dial on the 3-link "Bader" bracelet watch on AMZWATCH 3 weeks ago and am loving it to pieces. Absolute fantastic watch that wears super comfortable on my 6.75 inch wrist. Chose the 3-link over the 5-link bracelet for the toolless quick adjustment. Way more comfortable than my Longines Hydroconquest 41 mm.
My Rolexes are from 1966 (Bart Simpson 5513, with massive volcanic-level patina and dial tropicalization and "long five" bezel) and 1967 (impeccable matte dial 5513, with original riveted bracelet). Not to tell the time today but rather to remember the good times back then. All the childhood memories come to life whenever wearing them. This is not possible with a modern 124060. I don't need another Rolex.
If you buy because you understand the brand and like the watch , it’s time to buy now. If you want to flip, resale at profit, it’s a bad move. It ain’t gonna happen the resale market is dead
I haven't bought a watch in 3 1/2 years but might treat myself to one soon for my 50th b'day. I lost money on the ones I own. Not the end of the world. They're luxury after all, they're not meant to make money, but to be worn and enjoyed! What's the effing point of living otherwise? Pass down all your savings to your descendents? Yes yes, it's nice to be able to get out of a watch you don't like anymore, recoup the cash and spend it on another watch or anything that gives you joy. I get that. But investing, as in making actual money? Not going to happen bar a few exceptions (SS Daytona and GMT, basically).
Australia🇦🇺 is 32x bigger than UK🇬🇧 so obviously “Aussies” love real estate!! Sometimes I think 🤔will a new Rolex make me any happier than my late father’s Valjoux 7750!! Truth is even if I sell 2 million dollar homes and get $40,000 commission!! I will not take that ETA off my left hand. So it’s a waste buying 18k gold Rolex!! My watch dealer promises me there will be ETA 7750 parts available year 2050 for my son service his grandfather watch ⌚️……
Sell the JLC, Breguet and Zenith ,keep the Patek,Rolexs, speedy ,3 in a roll ,1 to wear,I only say keep the speedy because it was a gift, personally I hate them
Watches just like homes and cars are depreciating assets for the most part, they have always been till more recently with all the inflation cause by .gov in the last decades. If you want to keep your money safe buy gold, a 50k rolex would buy you 20oz of gold which will last you for generations and is liquid everywhere you go.
Its wrong.Vintage Watches are good, when they are original and rare. And sometimes rare New watches. But both is dificult to choose. And you have to hold them a long time.
I see another RUclips watch person who say another watch brand Squiggly is as good as Rolex??? And better value.. so I put my life savings into that. Is as good, yes?! I now not sure
Watches were never intended to be investments. They can be investments under the right circumstances, or if purchased sufficiently cheap. However, with that logic, anything can be an investment. If one purchased a bunch of toilet paper and hand sanitiser before COVID, and sold them for a profit, then technically toilet paper and hand sanitiser are adequate investment vehicles. If one purchases a precious metal or a stock, on the other hand, unless one intends to directly utilise them, they don’t offer any real intrinsic worth. Unless I’m planning to use the gold, or to buy enough of a stock to become a major shareholder, neither are useful to me. My only hope is to watch the value increase and to sell when the time comes. If you don’t purchase a watch, you don’t get to wear a watch. If the market dictates my behaviour, then technically I will be forced to sell my watch once I’m in the green, and I can’t purchase a watch unless there’s potential upside. I feel like that defeats the purpose of being a watch enthusiast.
For sure grey market is slow. June 2024, I was able to sell 2 Rolexes. August and September 2024, I have hard time selling now. I have couple watches still waiting from AD.

Glad the "watch investing" era is dead. Enthusiasts rejoice!
buy high sell low? great advice archhh
The muppet boiler room secondary grey luxury watch market is dead
It's not dead. The secondary grey market is very important part for watch collectors and investors.
It's all gone pear shaped.
All ovah Red Rovah!!!

Who’s here watching from the year 2054?
Beauty Big Boi. Liking this new/old school format. Keep it up Arch.

Likely far more than 18%
Few years back you would be shouting tudor, zenith, jlc, bregaut are shitters.
🥷did someone say SAFE ?
Great news (not news though) for people who just enjoy watches.
I sold my rolex...had 3 of them...and I break even..made no profit. I am now out of luxury watches...I now wear a citizen
A lot less stress actually wearing it when you clang it against the elevator doorway, etc. my $20 Casio field watch functions just as well too 😁

A stock broker is a professional salesman, the shoe shiner is not. Neither can predict long term results.
Yes, but who wants a Rolex now after we have been and are still being told to get lost by the AD’s. They just don’t like customers.
The Rolex bluesey is a decent and respectable Rolex.
When are people gonna learn that watches are not smart investments
Watched were never investments. If you want to invest then buy stocks, mutual funds, real estate, or businesses.
Or precious metal
The JLC was by far Arch’s worst purchase.
yeah. zenith open butt is close.
It’s Phuket to the Phat
How does someone in debt , own one luxury watch?
simple. you dig your hole further using loans and credit

Got call for Pepsi watches of Switzerland last week in Melbourne. Picked up Friday. All over phuckers
I quite like the Breguet and the Zenith
Enjoyable video and informative I think watchs were always a long term investment and you should wear and enjoy them.
good video Arch
Only at retail - don’t buy outside that. But honestly you should have never done that anyway
