Felt like I should come back here and give y'all another update. As of April 30th 2022, she's married. She got married to her boyfriend/fiancé of 11 years. And she's very happy and is doing really well. She still has a long way to go, and she still struggles a little bit with her self-esteem, but I've got her back and I plan to help her with that in the coming years. She's also closer to being able to get a job. So soon she will be able to have money of her own. She's doing great.
I don’t really have depression bc I haven’t gone to diagnose it or whatever so I’m just gonna say I’m suffering from sadnes. I am 13 I have had it since I was 12. My dad would always go and say I was selfish and wasn't normal, I said all these things to my online friend and my dad came in without knocking and heard everything, he said "thank you" and stormed out. I have locked myself in my room and I'm crying so much, he probably told my mother. I hope someone reads this and you should know if you have been through some sh!t then you're not the only one Edit: Hah I have fake friends in school. Very annoying. But know that my bestfrind will always be there for me. Take care❤ Edit: Man wtf it’s been 3 years. I just want to say, I fixed things with my dad. Like we talked everything through and our relationship has been growing and we’re really close. I never hated him or anything it was just a really long period where I felt like we never got along and he never tried to understand me. I know my parents put so much pressure on me to get good grades that when I got a C+ on my math test (at my school that is a 81) (I know it's not the best grade but I tried my hardest) I actually broke down crying because I knew they would kill me
This sounds like my parents. They yelled at me when my grade went from 9.7 to 9.6, and when I said it was okay they said I was grounded until I had 9.9, and until I fixed my “ ridiculous “ grade.

Another update guys two years later. It is me again, the friend she stayed with in the video. Again, I don't have proof to show and all I have is my words. She is doing a lot better. She has had some bumps a long the way but she is happy to be free of the weight her parents placed on her. She has been living with my aunt for two years now and well she really is from what I can say doing a lot better. She still has a long way to go but I am proud of how far she has come. Thank you all for you support and nice comments. Andrea and I really appreciate it. In fact this year she had a lot of fun scaring people at a haunted house for Halloween. And I am happy she now has the freedom to do that. Her family is not hanging over her head as much anymore. And she is happy she doesn't have a curfew or have to tell any one where she is. And I am sure she is glad she doesn't have to ask to go out anymore XD. So yeah. Like I said, she dose have a long road a head. There are still some challenges she needs to face and over come but I'll be there with her to help and offer support. So wish her luck guys. And thanks so much again!

UPDATE: The friend who let her stay at her house commented on this video, and we now know that Andrea moved out at 19 and had lived at the friend's aunts house for two years. She has her own place now and never has to deal with her parents again, and she got married a month ago!
Some of these parents who have "golden children" and are still never satisfied really need a wake up call. They need to get a serious refresher course maybe from some of those parents who lost their children in a school shooting or other tragedy. People who now, just want their children back...regardless of their imperfections. Love your children, mistakes and all. You don't get a second chance.

This is my Best friend's story. I know her so well and I still care about her so much. Her parents might not care but I do. She is part of my family and my adoptive sister. I love ya always My creepy freak of a sister.
I was always a straight A's student in elementary... middle school I had a bit more trouble and got some B's. I would get C's every now and then, and I would get harshly punished. Even to a point where I sobbed so much that I used to throw up. My father would always yell at me about my grades and act like I had failed a class and I wasn't going to pass. I made it through to high school... my life is still currently a living hell. This is only one on top of many problems I'm facing with. I haven't seen anyone and I'm hesitant to talk to a therapist because I'm highly antisocial. My mother is the only one trying to help me. I've come here possibly asking for advice from random strangers who have hearts.
Hy honey, I know damn well that this is very hard... but talking to a therapist can really help you, because eventually, you will talk to people and get friends. I hate living with my parents, im 17 and I can't wait to go to collage. Look, some people(parents) will never change and maybe they will never, ever understand you. My old parents Always compared me to other girls they forced me to be clean and my hair to be washed every day.And then when I turned 18 they started being strict with me and abusing me. So i told my grand parents about this and i lived with them for a good 3 years and i moved to my new parents house and my brother And my old parents were arrested for how they were treating me a 7 year old kid getting abused by her parents!!!
I feel you. I think i might also have depression but I wasn't diagnosed with it yet. I'm one year younger then when you were diagnosed with depression. It's not because of my parents but my parent most specifically my dad. As I got older my dad put more pressure on me and he dosen't really get what I'm going through either. I try and confront him sometimes but it always fails. Luckily I have my mom who tries her best to help me but it dosen't always work.

I remember some dad of a guy at school grounded his 19 year old son for six months because he came charging in on them when he was naked and he thought he was "being a teen". That was a father who left playboy magazines all over the house and told people to "get used to it" and "it's normal."

I have parents like this. I'm 11, but it started when I was eight. They blame me for everything and get super mad if I don't do things perfectly the first time. (Also, I am not begging for sympathy- although it is nice- but I just feel like I can't tell anyone else.)
I actually kinda have the same thing, my dad was calm, he actually loves me. And he loved me the same thing as his wife because I said Dada before I said Mama. My mom was actually harsh on me, she made me do chores, she forced me to play piano so I can be "the best" in my family. She would yell at me when I cry.

One time I didn't eat breakfast and my canceled my birthday party, he asked why I was so bitchy, I didn't do anything except wake up and lie on the couch. I was holding my stomach because it hurt and it wasn't because I was hungry. He kept asking what's my problem and he threatened to send me to my room. I wanted to cry but I was on my way to school. (I just wanted to share my story don't feel bad for me please I'll be sad)

I can kind of relate, in school I would get a 3.00 gpa and my mom told me that i better bring them up. Now I have gotten 4.00 GPA and my parents don't care at all. On my state testing for math I got 20/20 and my mom didn't care, but at the teacher meeting she had a reaction when my math teacher told her, so I asked her why did she have a reaction now and she said that so it doesn't look like she is a bad parent even though she acts like one when no one is looking or paying attention. It makes me very mad at this because I am trying and my grandparents see that and they care more than my mother.
That's why I stopped showing my parents my report card and test results. My mum doesn't care but my dad got mad at me for getting a 3.60 gpa and when I brought it up to a 4.00, nothing happened except he wasn't threatening my summer vacation
There is a difference between wanting your child to do better and wanting a excuse to yell at your child for never being good enough for you, no matter how far you go or improve. I went out through the same, my whole life i focused out on the grade, on the GPA, it was never about the grade, no matter how high i went, 3.9, honors program at college, ambitious majors out it didn't matter where i went, and yet at the same time i was killing my mental health and neglecting on just the most base of socializing i had problems speaking out to people out ironically since we were never taught to look people in the eye or speak out our opinions when we were small. And when we went off we realized that made us floormats to everyone else and they were unbalanced people out. Do great things, and they take all the credit for all the great things that happen out in your life, and stick you with the blame for all the bad. Even if their advice is terrible and fails, they hold it against you.

I had the same issue with my parents. Along with the responsibility of caring for my younger siblings. When I turned 20 I had to move out. My environment was too toxic to my mental health. It took me years to get to where I am today, build a life of my own, but I know I made the right decision. Just because someone gave you life doesn't mean they can control it.

Another update guys two years later. It is me again, the friend she stayed with in the video. Again, I don't have proof to show and all I have is my words.
She is doing a lot better. She has had some bumps a long the way but she is happy to be free of the weight her parents placed on her. She has been living with my aunt for two years now and well she really is from what I can say doing a lot better. She still has a long way to go but I am proud of how far she has come. Thank you all for you support and nice comments. Andrea and I really appreciate it. In fact this year she had a lot of fun scaring people at a haunted house for Halloween. And I am happy she now has the freedom to do that. Her family is not hanging over her head as much anymore. And she is happy she doesn't have a curfew or have to tell any one where she is. And I am sure she is glad she doesn't have to ask to go out anymore XD. So yeah. Like I said, she dose have a long road a head. There are still some challenges she needs to face and over come but I'll be there with her to help and offer support. So wish her luck guys. And thanks so much again!

UPDATE: The friend who let her stay at her house commented on this video, and we now know that Andrea moved out at 19 and had lived at the friend's aunts house for two years. She has her own place now and never has to deal with her parents again, and she got married a month ago!

Some of these parents who have "golden children" and are still never satisfied really need a wake up call. They need to get a serious refresher course maybe from some of those parents who lost their children in a school shooting or other tragedy. I was always a straight A's student in elementary... middle school I had a bit more trouble and got some B's. I would get C's every now and then, and I would get harshly punished. Even to a point where I sobbed so much that I used to throw up. My father would always yell at me about my grades and act like I had failed a class and I wasn't going to pass. I made it through to high school... my life is still currently a living hell. This is only one on top of many problems I'm facing with. I haven't seen anyone and I'm hesitant to talk to a therapist because I'm highly antisocial. My mother is the only one trying to help me. I've come here possibly asking for advice from random strangers who have hearts.
Hy honey, I know damn well that this is very hard... but talking to a therapist can really help you, because eventually, you will talk to people and get friends. I hate living with my parents, im 17 and I can't wait to go to collage. Look, some people(parents) will never change and maybe they will never, ever understand you. One time I didn't eat breakfast and my canceled my birthday party, he asked why I was so bitchy, I didn't do anything except wake up and lie on the couch. I was holding my stomach because it hurt and it wasn't because I was hungry. He kept asking what's my problem and he threatened to send me to my room. I wanted to cry but I was on my way to school. (I just wanted to share my story don't feel bad for me please I'll be sad)

On my state testing for math I got 20/20 and my mom didn't care, but at the teacher meeting she had a reaction when my math teacher told her, so I asked her why did she have a reaction now and she said that so it doesn't look like she is a bad parent even though she acts like one when no one is looking or paying attention. It makes me very mad at this because I am trying and my grandparents see that and they care more than my mother.
XD They don't care if you have 4.0 GPA and a 20/20 on state testing for your maths? That is horrible, that is enough to get you to an Ivy league
That's why I stopped showing my parents my report card and test results. My mum doesn't care but my dad got mad at me for getting a 3.60 gpa and when I brought it up to a 4.00, nothing happened except he wasn't threatening my summer vacation

There is a difference between wanting your child to do better and wanting a excuse to yell at your child for never being good enough for you, no matter how far you go or improve.
I went out through the same, my whole life i focused out on the grade, on the GPA, it was never about the grade, no matter how high i went, 3.9, honors program at college, ambitious majors out it didn't matter where i went, and yet at the same time i was killing my mental health and neglecting on just the most base of socializing i had problems speaking out to people out ironically since we were never taught to look people in the eye or speak out our opinions when we were small. And when we went off we realized that made us floormats to everyone else and they were unbalanced people out.
Do great things, and they take all the credit for all the great things that happen out in your life, and stick you with the blame for all the bad. Even if their advice is terrible and fails, they hold it against you.

I have depression too....I never really talk to anyone about it so no one really knows .-. the only people who know about my depression are me, my parents, and my closest friends... I hide my depression at school but I never really get cured for my depression....I don't have a councilor or anything like that because I don't even want one...councilors don't understand .... the ones in my school just make it worse.. I know because years ago when I was in the second grade I had a counciling appointment the teacher gave me for some reason cause I felt like all the teachers and students at the school hated me and I only had my friends and parents to help me.. when I went to the counciling appointment the councilor just asked me suspicious questions and made it worse...that's why I don't trust councilors anymore

I had the same issue with my parents. Along with the responsibility of caring for my younger siblings. When I turned 20 I had to move out. My environment was too toxic to my mental health. It took me years to get to where I am today, build a life of my own, but I know I made the right decision. Just because someone gave you life doesn't mean they can control it.
