As a fellow hairstylist. I to am trying to find my purpose in the field... I Have been burned out for awhile now and I start and stop alot, but I tend to run back when people beg and tell me how good I am at it. I am more fulfilled when I'm giving back. Last year I put together a braiding class Free to the young ladies/ girls of my community..... if felt amazing pouring into those babies and seeing them learning and grow in such short time. I say that to say this, Most of the amazing moments, money can't buy!!! Only 5 minutes into the Video and God is already confirming some things for me......
Do you have a license…. ? It’s not required but if you have it you can do other things like spa work
@@AyeJye yes, I'm licensed. I have offered facials in a previous salon I've worked in and it's definitely something I'd like to maybe dig deeper into. My regular clients are spoiled and they don't allow for much wiggle room... lol they like what they like.
@@laqueladoll7497 that’s great to hear ! I’m licensed too and I often have to switch what I’m doing …. Sometimes I did hair , nails, pedicures, body waxing, and eyebrow waxing….but now I feel like the career is too much for me so I’m switching careers now….if you have a license your opportunities are endless even community colleges are looking for teachers all you need is a license in certain states
@@AyeJye I tried brow waxing before, it gave me terrible anxiety lol... my biggest fear was ripping someones eyebrow off. But yea, I can totally relate with it being alot to handle. It can also be very rewarding which makes it very hard to leave the field. I'm just letting God order my steps when its comes to where he wants my gifts to take me.

I joined your channel because my 90 year old great aunt retired from being a traveling hair stylist after she retired she continued to do hair for a few of her clients in her basement until arthritis got bad. She said she traveled all states except 3, states

God spoke to me many years ago, to leave the industry & I struggled with walking away from it, cause it was all I knew… I obeyed & He has blessed me even more abundantly since! And I do not miss it. But I miss interacting with so many people. Keep obeying & keep being led by the Holy Spirit.

Yessss Love This For You! I Just Moved To Atlanta In May 2022. I’m A Licensed Florida Nail Tech And Had To Go Back School To Get More Hours To Be Licensed In Georgia. So Far I’ve Passed The First Part Of My State Board And Looking Forward To Passing The Next! I’m Trying To Figure Out If I Wanna Add Traveling Services To My Books. Seeing This Made Me Reconsider!

I was thinking... IF ya wanted... yall could make yourselves available to the Foster Care System and DFCS bc they NEEEEEEED traveling hairstylists and PAYYYY! Also see if yall can hit up the biracial or cross racial adoptions.... LET em KNOW!!!

@@AyeJye Yes!!!
1) Just call or go to your local DFCS- or whatever it's called in your state -during office hours (Make sure to have your ID, business card, cosmetology licenses, etc with you)
2) Ask for the Foster Care social worker, the Child Welfare Specialist, or Child Welfare Worker. The titles are different by state.
3) Ask the Foster Care social worker how you can become a Hair Care Resource for the agency-and other adoption agencies in the area- whenever Black/Biracial/Mixed race children need their hair taken care of before, during, after, and in between placements and adoptions. Tell them that they can REFER the foster and adoptive parents to you for hair care and education. (This should lead to them asking for your contact info ,etc and letting you know their terms and payments, dates, times, etc) (IF you can do ALL types of hair, EMPHASIZE that, so it won't just be a "Black" thing but tell them you SPECIALIZE in "Black and mixed" hair but it really doesn't matter to you because you can do ALL hair types.)
4) If they look at you funny, say they don't offer anything like that, or say they don't know what you're talking about, say, DFCS has a List of local hair stylists that take care of children's hair and that you want to be on that list, especially for Black/Biracial/Mixed race children. Also say that you want to help with hair care in cross racial placements or adoptions.
5) All of this should lead to them putting your name and contact info on their Resource List and putting your business card up and out there to the families.

PS- You may have to offer some services at discounted rates because much of this might be done through monthly stipends or something. I don't know for sure, but discounts would incentivize them to put your name out there, and REMEMBER, you can put any overages on your taxes as business expenses or charity work.
PPS-Sometimes non Black foster parents can be shy, embarrassed, know-it-alls, or plain weird, please give them grace. ;)

Honey, I can't take it , the editing is killing it ! I love the pink traveling bag. The wig you're wearing in the car looks so natural . I wish I could create such a natural look, but I am not talented as you are in that department . There's something for everyone and I just decided to stay in my lane and allow you to do the hair. 🥰 I get bored as well as a business owner. That's because we are always trying to be unique and you can't be unique without change. Giving back is always wonderful , because it comes back to you . Plus, you put a smile on others and you never know how you helped someone feel better or they had to go on a job interview and needed to look professional . May be one day I'll be touched by TJ.
