I love your videos and, as a PhD student, I feel incredibili lucky to have found your channel with such unvaluable content. I could not agree more on 'think before you write' and I will explain why with a short story. As I struggled with motivation in the last period, I've started keeping a journal for writing all the ideas or thoughts I develop on my research field. What I’ve noticed is fascinating: pages written during small bursts of inspiration often appear messy and unclear, as I rush to capture my thoughts before they fade. In contrast, when I revisit these ideas at the end of the day, I find that my writing becomes more structured, the content clearer, and even the handwriting more clean.
Charlotte, your uploads are always such a breath of fresh air! I've been looking forward to your research-driven content cause it inspires me to be ntentionally disciplined and stay focused. Don't stop sharing your work/methods!!
hello. thank you for creating this channel and sharing this video. i too feel like addicted to writing. especially on pen and paper. i really get the benefit to my writing skill as lecturer and researcher. greetings from Indonesia.
You can learn the mechanics of writing for sure, the rules governing grammar, sentence construction, figures of speech even, but the craft of writing concerned with style, rhetoric, diction, artistry, as well as the presentation of ideas comes from within, more so, from the well spring that is inspiration As a poet and university student I can tell you writing is tailor-made for a specific audience, a niche market, if you will. Writing however you want as a habit can only get you so far (nowhere most of the times). You have to know what supervisors / publishers / editors are thinking and their inclinations: their likes and dislikes. Also very important All the very best on your personal journey as a PhD student🌱
Yes, so true, I definitely believe the skills for writing a paper, a book, or a poem are so different, almost the difference between creating a video or a documentary vs. a full length film and it will be difficult to get good at all of them at the same time 🤔
Two books in Charlotte's list are master classes in breathing literary life into ideas: Man's Search for Meaning, and The Man Who Mistook His Wife for a Hat. Read a book like you're learning to dance, and this book is your partner for as long as the music lasts.

Hi, I watched one of your videos about scientific articles a month ago, and today I came across a very popular video on TikTok. I think it’s you or someone who looks like you. You were sitting next to someone I assume is your boyfriend, wearing a yellow jacket, on a bus. I’m not sure if you’re aware of this or if it’s just someone who resembles you?

really loved this video. A short book on creating a writing habit I can recommend is "How to write a lot" by Paul J. Silvia. BTW is that a bombilla in that mug? 🧉
