This is helpful information but it's hard to hear with all the wind
Useful video, but for future reference, please don't shoot videos in heavy windy conditions because the audio suffers very badly. Or consider investing in a wind filter for the microphone (frequently called a "dead cat").

So it was kind of one of those situations of shall we do it or cancel. But we thought we would pull through and make it happen.
We are looking at different upgrades, but for now the channel is purely a hobby to try to help people :)

Before Covid struck I was going to buy a place in Figueira Da Foz to avoid all the Brits on the Algarve . Beautiful beach within reach of the University and close enough to Lisbon. Also good prices there.
Most good places right now in the Algarve is also suffering under hyper inflation. So watch out! Check out our most recent video :-)

Hello there.Thanks for all the informations.I currently live in Melbourne and thinking to move back to Europe. Lisbon/Portugal interests me. I'm working as a cook/chef and traveling the world.I was thinking to rent a room in a shared house and then start looking for a job. What do you think?
At 5:43, Lee Ann mentioned a place with new apartments, green nearby and near the beach but I could not hear the name because of the wind. Can someone tell the name of the city? Thanks

Yes, it's Parque das Nações :) but it's not by the beach. It's by the riverside
The river is very wide, you can see the other end in a far distance. So there is a lot of water ;)
Great video. My biggest question is, can you get the rental contract needed needed the d7 visa if you only want to rent a room in a shared apartment?
Yes and no.
If you are renting a room from another person, a sublease - this isn't likely to be accepted.
But if the landlord rents it to you with a:
- Legal contract
- Files the contract and your rental payments to Financas (AT) - which is the Tax Authorities
Then I can't see why that shouldn't be accepted.
Alternatively, or even better, try to look for a T0 - which is a studio flat. Same conditions as above counts here.
"The landlord pays all the commissions here". This was helpful to know.
From a casual perusal of the Coldwell Banker site, it seems they deal mostly in high end property sales and not rentals for mid-range places as much. Am I understanding this wrong?
I don’t have a full overview over their portfolio. I know there main business is sales, but Lee Ann that we are interviewing here is purely doing rental.
We have also made one other video that is showing how you approach this with different real estate agencies :)
I also do sales ;) but as a lot of our clients are relocating to Portugal and looking to rent first, we also help with that!
We also do mid prices rentals but it depends on the budget as in some areas it is more difficult to find properties as not all agencies have the concept of working in partnership with other agencies so unfortunately our hands are tied at a certain level

Great video, thanks! I am wondering how easy it is to secure a rental 3 or 4 mths in advance as that's how far in advance I need to submit my D7 application?
Getting the rental is probably not so hard, if you just find good people you feel you can work with. Lee Ann here could be one of them, depending on what area you are looking in.
I'm not too sure of visa questions, as we have been fortunate enough to get in without. But I can recommend www.sandragomespinto.com/ if you need help with that.

Hi Grant, unfortunately it is not so common that a property is on the market but only available in the future. A lot of our clients pay a few months for an empty apartment. However you can be lucky and have a landlord who is willing to not have the rental income for a few months and let's you start the lease when you arrive :)

What you are looking for is content insurance. We have ours through the energy company, but no we haven't covered it so far :)
