The video was excellent. It looks like a lot of work unless one is going to make multiple casts.
Why cant you heat the clay in a slow cooker then pour it rather then going through the hassle of cutting pieces, filling and then ATTEMPTING to level the surface when gravity can do it for you much faster and with superior finish though?
Would you still use this type of mold if the bottom had large holes in it? Or is there something else you would do?

This is done to take up room and save on rubber, as well as making demolding easier.

@@djaysquare This is urethane rubber, not silicone. Urethane rubber is very adhesive.

im really confused why the plastic cup was hot glued to the base board? it didnt say its purpose or even show it being used please help
I'm confused about that part too. Re-watching isn't clarifying either.
Simply to reduce ammount of rubber required for mould. You don't need it to be 100% solid.

#Smooth-On How visible will the irregular cut along one of the edges be on the finished product? Any way to 'key' the cut? So far this IS the technique I need to use but the seam cut troubles me a bit...tks!
If the mold is made correctly, the amount of flashing should be minimal. It can be tricky to get this correct, but we are always there to help!

Great video; however, it show nothing about how to measure the proper volume of rubber for the mold, or the material for the casting. It show no quantities.
hot glue gun is NOT the best option for sealing things. My mold leaked out and a bunch got wasted. Also, this process seems rather tedious. What I did instead is fill in the cavity and let that dry, then i flipped it and poured the rest of the mold as normal, leaving the top exposed for pouring.
Is the video is informative, a little outdated graphics, but the information is there. The 70's elevator music put me to sleep.
