  • A heat detector is a device that detects an increase in temperature and triggers an alarm. It is typically used in a fire safety system, but can also be used to detect other temperature changes. Heat detectors work by sensing the temperature of their environment and comparing it to a predetermined threshold. When the temperature exceeds the threshold, the detector triggers an alarm. The alarm may be an audible sound, a flashing light, or both. Heat detectors come in various types, such as fixed temperature or rate-of-rise detectors. Fixed temperature detectors are set to a specific temperature, and when that temperature is reached, the alarm is triggered. Rate-of-rise detectors are designed to detect an increase in temperature over a certain amount of time, and they will trigger the alarm when this occurs.
