If you need help doing row 3 and beyond, here’s a tutorial I used to learn the stitch: ruclips.net/video/1_5pHBcVhuU/видео.htmlsi=_yobw8npqBfxAXOz Also, I am doing an extended double crochet/ UK double crochet in this video instead of the US double crochet like intended- either one works though. This is a really old video so my newer videos don’t have this problem! :) Sorry for the confusion 💓

You are doing an extended dc not a normal dc. An extended dc is yarn over pull thru 1 loop then complete as a dc with the last 3 loops on the hook. A dc is a yarn over pull thru 2 loops, yarn over pull through last 2 loops. There are a lot of beginner crocheter that may not know this. Beautiful skirt.

to start row 3, you need to chain one after doing the 3 dc in the last stitch. Turn you work and do a single crochet in that same stitch and then continue the pattern: skip 2, 5dc in the third stitch, skip 2 and a single crochet in the third stitch

This is beautiful. Never thought of using mandala yarn for this. Have u thought of working this in a continuous circle so that u don’t have to have the unsightly seam? Like literally just at the end of the chain just attach it with a slip not to the beginning then u can work the skirt going around a circle and still add the pull string to the top. Since it’s just an easy stitch being repeated you can literally just work this in a circle and skip all the other stuff. So much simpler and no seams!

So, I just found you...you’re cute as a button! See to have a super sweet disposition...
I’m sub’d to prob every crochet channel that’s doing tutorial on YT lol.
If you don’t mind some critique to help you improve your channel so it’ll grow...if so, keep reading, if not, skip on past.
I’m guessing that you are using a phone to record this...I would if I were you and wanted to perfect my vids to grow your channel, I would invest in a good camera/mic setup. That’ll include a stand, good background, and super bright lighting. Now I know that’s some money, so like I said - eventually. Buy things as you can. I’ll also suggest a white and a black background. That way depending on the yarn your using it’ll show up well. You can get a flat sheet and a ‘science fair’ style poster to lay sheet over as a cheap, yet great background. Zoom in really close so it’s easy to see where what you’re doing with your stitches.
Not sure if you have any crochet stitch books. There’s like a ton on Amazon. I’d get one and start reviewing the stitches. Let your audience know that you are using American terms, as ‘English’ (as in England) use different terms. The stitch you are using here at the beginning of your vid, is called a ‘herringbone double crochet’. A normal dc is - yo, insert hook into stitch, yo pull out of stitch, yo pull through 2 loops, yo pull through last 2 loops. You were instead doing the herringbone st, which is - yo, insert hook into st, yo pull out of st and pull through first loop on hook, yo pull through 2 loops, yo pull through last 2 loops. Jsyk.
You want to zoom in really close so that ppl can easily follow what you are doing. It’s esp needed for newbies learning, *(which the comeback of this craft is due to yt’ers doing these tutorials). Everyone learns differently, so you may be able to teach so that some will learn better with you than another channel. Some great channels to checkout are Hooked by Robin; Bag O Day crochet; the Crochet Crowd; MJs off the hook designs; Daisy Farm Craft...just to name a few great ones. Watch how they record/teach. Great to learn from these long time veterans.
I wish you all the luck! I know it’s hard getting started. Do it bc you love it! It’s a great way to preserve what you’ve made and how it looks. It’ll take a good while to grow, but be patient and you’ll get there! Good luck! Now I’m off to watch your other vids!

Beautiful skirt and beautiful work! That doesn’t look like a traditional DC. I thought you were using UK term at first…But looked close and noticed you only yarned over once when you went into your stitch but then yarned over three times when you were pulling through your loops on your hook. Usually a double crochet is pulled through with twice not 3 times. Anyway, interesting. I’m just wondering if maybe there is a different name for this type of double crochet stitch?

You place it in the first and last stitches of the row if that makes sense! So for the beginning of row 3, you'll chain up 1 and turn your work. If your using a 6mm hook like the video I would size down to a 4.5mm or 5mm. Should work better for your yarn size if you're still working on this 😊
