Utah is stacked, feel bad for yotes fans because they were starting to get better but lost their franchise immediately. They have a very solid d core and the only thing is depth in bottom 6 and goaltending, but Connor Ingram can be good every now and then which he has proved in the past couple of seasons.
I wish they got an actual team name instead of Hockey Club
Blues now have a better bottom 6 and a goalie. They get in before utah, although itd be crazy if they both make it.
@@anthonyfaccaro7118 I mean I think they are top candidates for wildcard spots, I have to agree the blues are a lot deeper and they've had a solid goalie in Binnington for a good amount of years but their defense holds them very far back.
@@anthonyfaccaro7118I think ingram is the better goalie. It can go either or but Ingram takes the cake in my opinion
Yah
Fans just needed another 50 years to step up in scottsix
Sharks are going to be good quicker than people think. Not this year, but soon
Next decade
I hate that fact, but I agree, you'll be there soon.
I think a lot of people sleep on the fact that Logan Couture is likely to make a reappearance for the sharks this year. If he can even play just 50 games that would be huge for player development and team chemistry.
Everybody sleeping on Utah, they literally have one of the best if not the best young core of players in the whole league...
Those Utah Jerseys look very nice👌
Ottawa has so many good pieces, team D needs to be Travis Green's #1 priority. Cant win games if you score 4 but give up 5.
Overall you are damned right and you are also awesome! I have several picks for a big dark horse. As a lifelong Yotes fan witnessing that was tragic, but a really solid team of mainly young guns and underrated players gonna be dangerous. One team I have to mention only one other fan did is Columbus. For those of us who have followed the team since the old days these recent years of true severe tragedy have us fired up and ready! As for a team that many pick as a dead cert to make it I am sorry, but the Bruins are in such bad shape I don't think I can stomach it- it's sad, but true.
I feel like if Montreal gets all the improvements we expect and stay consisent. Man just look at this:
Suzuki: PPG Center, Selkie Canidate
Slafkovsky: 65+ Point Power Forward Winger.
Caufield: 35+ Goal 70 point Sniper Winger
Laine: 35+ Goal PPG Power Sniper Winger
Hutson: 35-40 Point Calder Canidate Offensive D
Dach: 50-55 Point Power Center
Newhook: 40-45 Point Playmaking Winger
Roy: 30ish Point Two Way Winger
Those are all the major additions or improvements we can expect. And if we compare it to last year. Man:
Suzuki: 75-80 Point, Selkie Votes
Slafkovsky: 50 Point Power Winger
Caufield: 25 Goal Sniper WInger
Laine: {Not a Canadien}
Hutson: {DIdn't Play Enough}
Dach: {Didn't Play Enough}
Newhook: Paced for 50 points
Roy: {Didn't Play Enough}
Considering we were already 8 wins out of a playoff spot with that team. Safe to say we can expect around a 8-10 Win increase from last year. Maybe more to be honest. I don't expect another 16 OTLs. I can see this being a legit playoff team when some people are still saying they are a bottom of the barrel lottery team. The players look ready to take that step and the core roster looks good enough to make it.
You also gotta consider regressions and health though. Not all of those guys will play enough games to hit those marks. And guys like Matheson probably had a carrer year. As much as us Habs fans want a playoff spot. I think patience is key. If we're good enough you can imagine Kent Hughes will start adding to this team. If they do make it though this year. I will say in 2 seasons when they resign or trade Laine. Lose Gally and Andersons contracts. Man that's 20.7 Million Cap we gain in 2 seasons. That's more then enough to sign 2 superstars.
You just gave the stats for an AHL team.
@-Subtle- why are they in the ahl if they are 35+ goal scorers in the NHL? And can barley hit 20 in the AHL?
@@4u2nvHock3y we are signing any superstars. everyone we have is here. Demidov. fills in Laine spot. and on D, god its Hutson, Rein, Mallioux, struble, xhekaj and many others.
@@claywhittington2564 Demidov is in the KHL. And even if he wasn't you can't rely on an unexperiened 18 year old to fill in the role of a 6'5 35+ goal winger
Awesome video you know your hockey 🏒 Utah is gonna be better than most think
I’m happy Soup Can is back in the league, even if it’s bare minimum salary as a back up. Has to be a good confidence booster for him to get his career back on track.
Even as a Leaf's fan, I'd love to see the Sens return to form. more Canadian teams at the top of the division would give us a better chance of a Canadian team winning the cup.
So do I buddy as a Sens I want the battle of Ontario to come back to life
Ottawa needs a good start to the season. Then maintain some consistency.
needs to make the playoffs for Giroux
@@dawsonholdsworth5371 Do we only have a year left on him?
@@PozzyTheOzzy
Yes, but likely he will sign another deal to stay local as his family is settled and from the area.
Respect for giving a full and fair analysis on the Sens!
But all around amazing picks for each division. I completely agree on the choices
Another under the radar team could be Ducks since they have a lot of young talent, they just need to click and will be scary. Probably another 2-3 years though
Agree! Ducks will take time, but it will only get better as long as they find some good winning chemistry. I always watch the going's on in Anaheim hoping for at least a really good regular season.
thank you. finally someone with brains
@@ravenclawseb135 You are more than welcome and you also are someone with brains. Zegras gets way too much heat and negativity and the Ducks fight like dogs not ducks to survive and win games. Ross Johnston was a great add- old time hockey player!
Columbus is motivated, we're bringing the cup home. For Johnny.
Yes and right on! You've always got to mention the Jackets as a true dark horse team. Motivated and we didn't just lose Johnny to tragedy- I hate to mention it, but I have to- Kivi. We've had way too many recent tragedies. My favorite player on the team is Olivier- he can scrap!
@@benmitchner2172 Sadly we just let my favorite player sign away, Josh Dunne. He would've been a true big body once he got up from the AHL.
Definitely kivi too -- I always see his jersey when I walk in to each monsters game.
Elvis has lost two great people in just a few years, I hope he can really channel that pain into some amazing saves and lead us a great season
@@drensden6574 OH NO! I DIDN'T KNOW THAT. MY OWN HEALTH HAS BEEN IN DECAY AND I AM ESTRANGED FROM BOTH MY PARENTS. I WILL PRAY FOR ELVIS WITH THIS NEWS. AT THE END OF THE DAY YOU ONLY REALLY HAVE TWO THINGS- YOURSELF AND GOD. I DID NOT KNOW ABOUT JOSH AND STILL HAUNTED BY KIVI.
I remember last year just before the start of the season feeling so unsure and almost unmotivated to watch my Sharks, but this year I’m extremely pumped to watch as our new guys start developing and our new team identity starts being formed.
I agree witht the central division picks.
Great video Johnny. Completely agree with you about the Caps, Sens, Utah and Sharks. Not having a lifelong affiliation with any teams, I tend to cheer for the underdogs anyway, but I really feel that those teams have the potential to surprise a lot of people.
NICKELBACK MENTIONED 🔥🔥🔥
Watch Jack Campbell shock all of us and win the starters spot out of camp 😂
Like Buffalo and the Utah HC to both finally make the playoffs.Ottawa and Montreal possibly may as well.
How are Buffalo, Ottawa and Montreal all supposed to make the playoffs in the same division as Florida, Toronto, Boston and Tampa
Sens just need 3 improvements from last season to push for and/or make a playoff spot.
1. Ullmark to come in and just post a .910 save percentage that alone likely increases the pts totals by 10-15pts on last season
2. Stutzle to stay healthy and have his wrist healed from last season (he played 70 games on an injured wrist and as a result he couldnt shoot) only had 1 PP goal last season he likely never stays out of double digit PP goals for a long time in his career.
3. Stay relatively healthy especially down the middle of the ice I think since theyve all become NHLers approx 3 seasons Stutzle, Norris, and Pinto have been available to play for around a combined 30 out of 180 NHL games
I honestly smell a quebec-colarado situation with utah.
They might go on a surprise playoff run this year
I know Pittsburgh on paper was supposed to be better last year but I like this team better this year
Detroit’s a true dark horse this year, and they’re gonna surprise many by not only making the playoffs but winning a series or more. I love the energy and dynamics of what’s going on in Utah.
Most of the East spent the off season actively getting better. Detroit signed half a dozen back up goalies and that's about it. They will be lucky not to be in the winning the draft lottery conversation.
Hopefully my Flyers will actually make the playoffs this year, and not collapse to bottom feeding teams when it actually matters most
As a Flyers fan I believe they need to be a bottom ten team AT LEAST they need one more big piece before they should start caring about the playoffs, it’s honestly not worth a first round exit over what could be the last big piece in a true Stanley cup contender in the future
Sorry, but i just dont see Pitt or Was making the playoffs. The East is a murderers row of strong teams. The 2 ancient teams aren't gonna be able to keep up.
that’s the point of this vid… some teams could surprise you
@@zasi1x442 exactly, lmaooo i guess hes a little slow
I'm always up for a good murderers row reference.
@@zasi1x442 he is arguing that these teams could make the playoffs. Im saying that i disagree, and that peoples assessment of these teams is accurate, and they will be good, but not good enough to make playoffs. He may view them as a dark horse, but i see other underrated teams having a better chance to surprise.
Gourde Should play Wing So Wright can move up or Vicw versa
thx jihnny hockey
Swedish skaters with a name ending in Lund have to be playing for the Sharks, this is the law.
You missed Nashville. Gonna have a huge season
Nashville isn’t a dark horse. Everyone knows they’re going to be good.
I never noticed how badly Utah just ripped off the Jets jerseys
Thoughts on Cole Caufield being called Coffee Hockey? Like taking the "eld" off his last name since his switched to #13.

Edvunsson was the goat in ny nhl23 sim
The sens need to stop wasting the first 20 games

I love your channel because you know what you’re talking about. But you did screw up a little bit picking the penguins over the Flyers. I’m just saying the Broad Street bullies are gonna be a more impactful team than the haters believe and the bi**hguins. Mark my words!!! The boys have raw talent, and when it comes to Knockin heads, they will keep their lineup brutal to make sure nobody messes with our stars!!! FACTS! 😝
Does no one realize that San Jose has 0 NHL level defenceman on the team or in the system? They are 10 years away from chasing a wildcard spot. No team has had defence this bad since most players were drafted to the war. Grier has no idea what he’s doing up there.
Sharks have a lot of talent upfront indeed but the defence looks awful. Did look like a clown-show last year.
I really like the Sharks, but I have to agree with you to a certain point.
Talk more about the Sens, theyre awesome. Youre awesome
Been hearing that for 3 years and they’ve been terrible. I’ll believe it when I see it.

Jonathan, the comment posted by @drillsey2446 made me think of a channel name, should you decide to change it. The comment was a compliment to your knowledge and succinct yet entertaining way to keep us informed, or what *you* like.
What about "Johnny Awesome"? There's another comment down the line (sorted by Top Comments) that *also* said you were awesome.

Stopped listening to this video as soon as I realized you were not picking the Habs as your dark horse team and opted to go with Ottawa instead. The same Sens team that has been supposed to make the playoffs for the last 5 or 6 years and continuously disappoints? Hilariously bad take
You said "the" dark hourse of each div,.. goes and names 2 in the first div he talks about .
i'm dead sick. as an Anaheim fan. we have a better team than san jose, were deeper in our rebuild. we did surprisingly good last year, in the start. and just because they have the number one overall pick, its all san jose. NHL media is the worst out of all the top leagues. i'm about to crash out.
I feel you man. I get into this hoping Ducks will be mentioned and they never are. Its really starting to piss me off
Ottawa 😂😂😂
@DERTHIX Dude lost his damn mind lollllll "I've been wrong the last 7 times, but this time I feel lucky"
Johnson Mary Harris Lisa Harris Frank
everybody is SLEEPING on montreal!!! their team is stacked!!!
I'm rooting against Utah for two reasons:
1) Arizona Coyotes had the best jerseys.
2) Utah Hockey Club? Meh. How utterly boring. Don't care if they change their name next year. Could have been so many great names.
They're out of names unless you want to go with AHL names. I think they can still come up with new names though. Kraken is a winner. Everything else is copywrited.
Third
White Carol Wilson George Moore Sharon
This is the scariest the Sharks have looked in a HOT MINUTE. Askarov was HUGE, but I think your sleeper is Cody Ceci. There is a little bit of EVERYTHING on that Sharks team. It's gunna be tough, but stats alone? That's a cup worthy team. Excited to watch plenty of hockey with my Canucks, Red Wings, Utah, Newfound love of the Oilers, and the Sharks!!!
I know damn well you didn’t just call the sharks a cup worthy team
Cup worthy in five years
Sens suck! Stu Skinner lol! Edmonton proved you can win regardless of defence or goal tending.
Bad take.
Lazy Take. 👆

Philly is better than pittsburgh they are basicly the same + michkov while pittsburghs core is one year older and bad bottom six like 29 point zero defence kevin hays as your 3C is not very good
