The bigest price on Tyros is for 76 keys, up-down screen, and bars controls replace button... Thats it. Few voices more and ... thats it! The sound generation modul its the SAME for both keyboards! They use PSR 970 speakers... One guy say - ''I feel Tyros sound richer''. This ''richer'' sound can be just from basic EQ setings...
great video, am switching from korg pa800 to yamaha, video made things easier for me to decide between T5 and s970. One thing, it would be better to compare the same instrument on both the keyboards by actually playing the keys than just playing the demos of the instrument on both the keyboard so as to get the response of the keys, the depth of sound, sampling and so on, more over t5 costs a hell of a lot more than 970 so obviously the quality must be compensating for the cost.
It's obvious Tyros 5 has a richer sound. They use PSR 970 speakers for both keyboards. The sound generation module is said to be the same: I would like to know where we can get this mostly important piece of information because I don't think possible distinct EQ settings can make such a difference.
A very important thing is: you can take the 970 with you and play without any problem: You can not do that with tyros because has no speakers . Am i right?
the main difference is the price : 3990€ Tyros 5 and 1850€ the s970. luckily the Tyros 5 sounds better than the s970, for 2000€ more to pay. anyway, the s970 is also a very good keyboard for a good price !
A bientôt !
Good video - was beginning to think I shouldn't have bought the T5 and bought a PSRS970 instead, until I got to the end of the vid. The T5 is an amazing machine!
You are one of the responders who understands the differences in abilities and qualities because of your real life experiences. The PSR_S950 is fine for some folks but not up to highest level the Tyros brings to the others. I am okay plying both boards since the PSR is a bit easier around for open mic nights where i am NOT the main attraction. If all I coud afford is the PSR_S I would be fine and okay.
The s970 is less than half price, its easier to gig as you have built in speakers, and don't need to lug around the cumbersome bass speaker and 2 small speakers as on the tyros 5, the interconnecting din lead from the bass tyros speaker costs around $60 to replace, the continual use of connection and disconnection as used for giging can be troublesome, frequent and annoyingly expensive. The s970 is quicker to assemble on a gig and sounds better through a professional amp. The s970 cabinet is slightly smaller and would be easier to transport plus the flight case for s970 is $279 wheras the Tyros 5 is $347......... Obviously the demo sound would be better on the Tyros 5 as it has those cumbersome bass speaker plus 2 top monitors wheras the s970 has the smaller built in speakers......ok but it still does not justify more than twice the price for what is the same sounds ????
Given the price difference, the T5 should way better than 970 right out of thr box but sadly it doesn't. Wont put in extra dollars to find out ways to make it sound price worthy.
a fair comparison will be connecting them to a pa system and quality differences are minimal the tyros 5 is abetter keyboard hansdown but the difference shrinks large not completely but much
Tambien he probado lo Tyros.
Buy what you can afford. That is where we all begin. Casio Privia 88 note keyboard if your funds are low and need decent piano voicing with decent hammer weighted keys. Even 10 year old Privias are great. with okay rhythms on board and speakers. Start here. These should be from $500 used to $900 new. USed is fine. Just get it and learn your skills over the net several years.Do not look back and stay out of the music stores if you have a credit card. I give you 60 Years of advice here. Let us know what you decide. Make a decision.
A me sembrava ottima, intuitiva, suoni di grande qualità... Grazie :)
Buonasera no!!!
Here is a problem. Both boards are similar for sure...but their ARE huge differences NOT SHOWN HERE, They are not addressed in this demonstration at all. ..just a few instrument voices here...No virtuose PLAYERS... and it would take a page to describe the Tyros advantages. These guys do not get it. They have their own opinions and own agenda which is okay......... PLUS You have to spend months with both boards AND be at least an intermediate ARRANGER player with adequate music skills to 'know' and 'own' these differences. They are vast. So...[forget about it]........ However if all you have is $$2500 for the PRS S950 then that will work WELL...exceptionally WELL for many players. Nothing else needed. If you must have a Yamaha ARRANGER. BUT...if you are a PRO with important gigs and good income coming in...the Tyros and GENOS line is just one 'ultimate' TOOL for the important jobs. Look at it this way. There is the adequate beginner-intermediate level drums or Saxophone and the very extreme advanced ones. Guitarist have a very difficult time with this too. At some point in your life your skills will deserve the top shelf...yet still not attain it.......or even NEED it.
I agree 100% with your comment " ....if you are a PRO with important gigs and good income coming in...the Tyros and GENOS line is just one 'ultimate' TOOL for the important jobs....." . It was just a brief comparison and in reality a pro player can not work with PSR-s970 where Tyros5 is available. I just Ordered a Genos and I may compare that as well.
Pro’s know that there is more to a keyboard then soundengines. If you’d help me understand and or list the differences.. that’d be great. Share your knowledge please! Saves people a lot of time.
And 'much better Psr S970 !!!!! Why is the output after the Tyros 5 !!!!!!! They say on the website that the Yamaha Psr S970 derives from Tyros 5 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Anyway I prefer the RDP S970 !!!!!!!!!! Everyone has their own tastes !!!!!!!!!
You' re the best team!Should make more videos on a different products !If you need more vodka, call me!Cheers guys!Dear Yamaha, go in your fucking labs and make some nice drums& bass like Ketron does.I understand Roland is selling only accordeons and is almost dead, Korg makes only guitar tuners and bullshit microns minikeys and Yamaha is updating Tyros 5 to S970 :))))))Mostly of the instruments companies make stuff for schools and begginers, but for MUSICIANS ?
The bigest price on Tyros is for 76 keys, up-down screen, and bars controls replace button... Thats it. Few voices more and ... thats it! The sound generation modul its the SAME for both keyboards!
Its personal choice,i dont see why i must pay double for T5! For me bether choice for my money is psr s970. Ofcorce with T5 we have a little bit more options in keyboard... Like sampler, or biggest sound library and t.c. Dont understand me wrong - if money is not problem for me - ill take T5. Happy?
The PSR-S970 has 2GB RAM, the T5 500KB working memory. The PSR-S970 has the next generation sound generation chip, same as in the Yamaha MONTAGE. So in some ways the S970 may be BETTER than the Tyros. BUT the NEXT Tyros will be better then again. It's always a leapfrogging forward of quality and technology. The sound quality is SO similar, that it's difficult to judge by camera microphone, and different size loudspeakers.
Two different worlds for very different purposes and musicians. Had them both. Great boards...... but if you are a One Man Band or 'the' Back UP for a group the Tyros has the Backing tracks on board. Korg will charge big bucks for VOICE upgrades and you will need your own third party backing tracks. The voices are adequate for performances and their differences may not be 'that' important. UNLESS you understand....The Tyros voices are already highly polished and the Korg needs DSP adjustments....especially everything other than the pianos, basses and organs. Korg has only drum patterns. The Korgs are heavier to carry around and more studio used but are great on stage with other capable musicians. The Tyros line is designed to perform with immediately. The Korg has a different learning curve and a tiny difficult to read screen icons. The tyros screen is a blessing for instant usage and visibility.

pretty good, but If you use the camera, sound quality is difficult to distinguish.

GrandAdan minus the heaviness of Tyros that makes it hardly portable. Lol
I think they sounds both similar))
I like the tilt-up display on the Tyros. I wish the S970 had it

And 'then the sounds and Styles are the same Tyros 5 !!!!!!!!!!
thanks for this video yeah I can hear too the sound quality of bith keyboards also you can compare the megavoice Brass and see what you hear
anybody know that piece from 12:54.........sounds good...

thats the biggest difference too the PSR doesnt have s art 2 voices a big advantage here

...... T5 & 950 ... PLZ ..

Let's compare tyroz with korg pa 600
is the Tyros connected to the Psr? Audio Out

like the vid but talking over the the sounds drowns out your voice alot of your speech unclear

970 has more resanance
S970: 7/10, tyros 9/10
