Liliana was seeing a young girl trying to save her brother. Lili's own backstory is her in her youth trying to cure her brother but actually killing him (and ressurrecting him as a zombie) in the process. Its what gave her the spark.
Ive always had a rough understanding of the story and I'm glad I do. It's definitely not perfect, but im glad I was able to pick a few things out that others didn't see

Yea. I get the whole blind reaction? but why react to a trailer about a card game you got no interest in and dont plan to do? The war of the spark was a high peak of story conclusion to magic the gathering's lore and story. And so many reacted to it simply cause the trailer was making headlines and people jumped in on the hype train milking for views.

No .. as she see their fate backward.. she reminds her path to planeqaljer as a child, she had to take care of her young brother but failed and turn him into a zombie. Swing this put her into anger in the real time lapse, and she decided she had enugh being manipulated…
Not that I think this will happen, but if Bolas can absorb sparks, why not other Planeswalkers? I could see Gideon giving up his spark to Liliana to save her while also making her more powerful, this leading up to her doing this with other sparks. I wonder if in the teaser the last candle burning is Liliana with several absorbed sparks after using them to defeat Bolas, being the last Jedi..I mean, last Highlander...I mean, last Planeswalker in existence. If this is true, then she could use Teferi's powers to reverse time and everything that Bolas has done, throwing everything back to the original Ice Age. Just a crazy idea/theory of this End Game.

What’s interesting about this trailer is that Gideon is focused on defending Ravnica against Liliana and the Eternals, while ignoring Bolas and the Citadel behind him. Why would he do this instead of using the blackblade to try to slay Bolas? Maybe he learned to take a less headstrong approach after the disaster of Amonkhet.
I think we have to remember Gideons origin, where he channelled all his attention to defeating the God ahead of him and all his friends were killed. He's wary of that and paying more attention to things around him maybe? Also, I'm assuming he was making his way towards Bolas, then got attacked by the horde so was more defending himself rather than looking to fight them?

The card that represents her betrayal is called Price of Betrayal. And the italics read "The moment Liliana defied Nicol Bolas, her contract was broken, and her life was forfeit. But she was free to choose her fate, and she decided it was worth the price." But the event that takes place next is represented by the card Gideon's Sacrifice. Its italics read, "To Liliana's surprise, the cost of betraying Bolas did not fall on her." In other words, Gideon sacrificed his life to save Liliana. So yes, Gideon is dead. Nicol Bolas is defeated. And Liliana has gone into hiding because she was wrecked by Gideon's death. It was decided by the Ravnica Allegiance that Liliana was too dangerous to be allowed to live. And Kaya was hired to hunt her down. And the story ends there. We do not know if Liliana is alive or not. Gideon and Domri are dead. Bolas is not dead, but he is exiled into the Prison Realm where he will remain for all eternity, powerless and unable to hurt anyone. The End. So far.
People seem to miss that Liliana looks back at the people crushed and seems to absorb their souls...... AND then she gets the major change of heart and soul from the pain to turn on Bolas.
@@Fibblewinter almost? God would be a pretty accurate description of the Planeswalkers when they were Oldwalkers. I think he is just trying to go back to that level, he really doesn't need any more than that to be unstoppable

They were all pretty much immortal and extrmely potent but few had the ability to create or destroy worlds on their whim ( i can think of Serra, Karn and Bolas and that sums it up)... just imagine the old army of Urza and co battling in giants mech, they werent really gods.

What some folks fail to realize is B is not evil just very self-centered, self-motivated, and fairly amoral. Which is very very easy to create evil characters with and much more difficult to make good ones with. But, there comes a point where self-preservation becomes lower on your priority list even when your priorities center around you. In this case: - Bolas has her freedom, which is a very on color thing for a character in black to be pissed about. - Powerful Walkers have been toying with her life for a long time. - Seeing that girl and her brother die in that wreckage reminded her of her own life and how she lost everything. And the last thing you want to do to a character motivated primarily by getting what they want. is be the living effigy of what's been stolen from them. I don't expect she'll die. There's no more powerful force for a person than sheer, unmitigated spite. And there's no color more spiteful than Black. She doesn't give half a damn about coming out of this young and pretty anymore, she just needs to see Bolas dead.

Or this is the end of this timeline and we go back into a soft reboot and everythings fine.
