I have listened to that cd countless times, never gets old. I also listened to the deluxe edition on amazon music to hear the bonus tracks, good extra aural fun. It's not just the kids who wanna rock, us middle agers like it too.
Was lucky to see the 30th Anniversary Tour. Played the whole album. Phenomenal show. One of the best shows I've been to. His band is incredible. The other guitarist Keith Scott is underappreciated..
I actually saw Bryan perform with Sweeney Todd, here in the Falls. He had super long hair back then. They played for two nights, and I went for both of them, they were so good. "Cuts Like A Knife" and "Reckless" are both great albums, but it was the next one, "Into The Fire," where I think he reached his true peak. More mature songwriting, and with two years of continuous touring under their belts, the band was super tight and red hot, especially Bryan's lead guitar player, Keith Scott, was literally on fire, laying down some of the most smoking playing to ever grace any power pop album.
I loved his single “this time”. Not sure what album it was from but some good memories. Reckless is a classic. Every damn song is class! I love the way ‘Kids Wanna Rock’ goes straight into those chords of ‘Its only love’. Classic!
Brendon, I totally agree with you on this release. This is an awesome box set from start to finish. Great review! I saw Bryan in Charlotte NC back in the early 80"s and that's when i started collecting all his releases as they came out. Thanks for the review.
I listened to quite a bit of Bryan Adams in 1985-87. Heaven still sounds achingly beautiful all these decades later. Funny how the summer of '69 seemed to be just as far back in the past then as it is now, hahah... For a teenager almost twenty years was an eternity! And in the eighties the sixties already had a mythical quality to it.
It's his Best of Bryan Adams records ever!! I remember buying the album when it came out!!! Later I bought the cassette so I could cruise around and listen to with my friends!!! Fun times!!! Later the CD and the boxset u have!! Great review!!
So you have bought it at least 4 times! That’s what these artists count on with each new version. Def Leppard is an artists that I have bought their album Hysteria in multiple formats and multiple editions. Easily 4 or 5 times for that album.
Nice post Brendon. Need to revisit Bryan's catalog as only cd of his in collection is Into the Fire. Imo, a real strong record but thinking should expand to pick up this one also. Had no clue Reckless was so packed with quality tunes. Thank you again, brother man. 👍
I have it. I quite like it. The Blu ray audio is serious fidelity. Love it. I’m also surprised the title track “reckless” didn’t make the official album track listing. Weird. It is a great tune.
Own the boxset and it really enhances what is already a fantastic album. Really wish they would do something similar for Cuts Like a Knife, Into the Fire and Waking Up the Neighbours.
You mentioned "brings back memories" You're talking about Bryan Adams & wearing a Def Leppard shirt. My memories of the 1980's is my sister who was a big Bryan Adams fan & my brother a big Def Leppard fan. I was the Artsy David Bowie, Talking Heads, Ramones fan.
Seen him on the reckless tour at the stadium in dublin - gr8 night - it was a seated venue - we were all standing on the seats - the bouncers/ security!! kept dragging us back down - brian had a go at the security from the stage lol - a gr8 night - he and the band where superb
Great review Brendon! I have the 2CD version. It says a lot about the songwriting streak that Adams and Vallance were on, that 6 out of 7 "throwaways" ended up recorded by other artists. "Draw the Line" was also recorded by Loverboy guitarist Paul Dean on his 1989 solo album Hard Core.
I have this as well and love it. However where is "Diana"?? There was room for it on the CD. So wish it would have been on it with the other bonus tracks..
@@BrendonSnyder It was released back in the day. It was the B-side Single to "Heaven"...Its not a demo, its fully produced and has never had an official album release. Have you not ever heard the song? Its amazing and one of Byran's best. Dang, I cant believe I knew something that you didnt..lol...It reached #21 on the US Rock chart in 1985! Upon futher research, it is rumored that Bryan had an affair with Princess Di. He has refused to release or play the song...So you wont find it on Itunes or spotify or any other streaming service...I dont his reasons, but anywho, its one of his best songs ever!
Reading online that the song was meant a light a comedic account of her wedding and that he was afraid the song would offend the Royal Family. Perhaps he left it off the boxset for the same reason.
My favorite Bryan Adams album. Lou Gramm, Steve Smith and Rob Sabino were the guest musicians. Not available yet. Edge of a Dream. Recorded by late Joe Cocker. Available in the soundtrack to the movie Teachers. Jim Vallance hopes that BA will release his version in the future. Back in the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s, I passed by Little Mountain Sound, Vancouver many times. Unfortunately, he was not there when I passed by the studio. 😞 Not available yet. Edge of a Dream. Recorded by late Joe Cocker. Available in the soundtrack to the movie Teachers. Co-writer Jim Vallance hopes that BA will release his version in the future. How appropriate you wear the Def Leppard shirt! BA and Jim Vallance went to the office of producer-writer Mutt Lange later in 1984. He could not be available for the next BA album because he was working with Def Leppard, Heart and Eddie Money. When BA and Jim Vallance broke up their partnership, BA hired Mutt Lange. Waking Up the Neighbours, as displayed behind you, was the big comeback in 1991. RIP Michael Kamen, co-writer.
curious how it sounds as the masters burned up in the 08 universal fire, thus he has to use back up tapes. i only wish it had the song, "diana" on it, which bryan has explained why its not which is understandable.
Brendon, according to you, what would be Bryan Adams best/ rockiest release post 90's and what do you think about his cover album? You got me interested in him again... Thank you. Cheers.
His post 90’s output doesn’t really rock the way he did in the 80’s. There are still “rock” elements. My favorite albums post 90’s is Spirit (2002) and 11 (2008). Regarding his covers album, there are some good moments but it’s not one of my faves. For me it’s Bryan Adams writing that I’m interested in.
Well only if you’re looking for him to recreate Reckless again. His sound and style has changed over the years but I think he’s still made some very good albums even if they are different from Reckless.
I’ve loved the album in almost 40 years - but damn - the track Reckless simply kills me. Such cool riffs. How can such a track be left out?! 🤷🏼♂️😵💫🥴🙌🏻🎸

Your research is impeccable and makes the background stories that make a real difference !!!
Thank you Robert! That’s much appreciated and good to know.

I’ve never been a big fan of Into The Fire. I’ll have to give it another listen.
@@BrendonSnyder I’m a big fan of Cuts Like A Knife and Reckless but never got into Into The Fire - I always find it heavy going.

Reckless is a classic. Every damn song is class! I love the way ‘Kids Wanna Rock’ goes straight into those chords of ‘Its only love’. Classic!
Not a bad track on the album. Even with all 7 of the outtakes added, the album holds up great.
This Time is on Cuts Like a Knife
One of my favorite albums
It’s definitely a classic!

Reckless is the Ultimate Adam's crowning achievement..you can't go wrong when you know kids wanna rock in heaven back in summer of 69.😉
Yeah all 3 of those songs are excellent!

I’m sure it was one heck of a night!
Paul Dean also recorded draw the line. It's on the hard core cd.
That’s true and I own that album as well. An underrated classic IMO!
@@BrendonSnyder absolutely!

That was my thoughts exactly. Even the outtakes were first class and became hits for other artists.
Thanks Brandon
I love his work
Great video .
He classic era can’t be beat!
I just watched the new album review this morning. I have yet to listen to it!! Haha
👍
I have this as well and love it. However where is "Diana"?? There was room for it on the CD. So wish it would have been on it with the other bonus tracks..
IDK…is that a song from the same era? Maybe it’s only in demo format and they wanted to keep it all at fully completed songs.
