I don't get it though. From the beginning the husband was not interested in FL. She pursued him and then used her achievement as a bargain to get his commitment. She started her romance wrong and there was little chance of it turning right after that. His everyday treatment and then his allowing their son to also treat her with disrespect were sure signs that neither of them cared. If the teacher could cook as well as FL could, she probably would only have been missed that first day and not beyond that. I find his "efforts" to win her back so lackluster and lacking in genuine feeling, that it's really insulting. They wanted their cook and maid back, not their wife/lover and mother. Sad story really.
I agree. The FL makes me very mad. She's a 2 legged doormat and lows them to torment and bully her. I would have gotten that teacher fired for the affair. The hubby is cheating. It's quite obvious. I wanted the inlaws to severely beat and scold the hubby and son and humiliate them as they did to the FL. The inlaws are great! They love their daughter and approve of the divorce. They never liked the SIL and less likely now once they find out about the affair. This drama mixes several different themes, but the ending should have been that she picked the 2nd ML decisively. Father and son made their choice already, so they should allow the FL her choice . Both the 2nd ML and nephew love the FL wholeheartedly, and the FL can be a mother again, only with the child that wants her love. The writers need to be more decisive in their endings and more realistic. She wouldn't have gone back to that hot mess.
Some people get used to what they have and take it for granted. Even the most stunning and sought-after people get cheated on. Once you take something for granted, you gradually stop respecting and caring for it, even if it is something others would kill for.
The son is just like his father. Heartless and shameless. He learned how to miss treat his mother from his father. So sad but she deserves to be happy and have a peaceful life.
i LOVED this FL - no putting up with crap from the husband and kid until almost the end, just accepted they were arseholes and got rid of both of them. When they tried to get her back she refused to accept their BS and made it clear she wasn't buying the crap they were selling, as well as insulting them HARD. Made the most of her second chance. I loved it when she snapped. She said for 7 years, she tried to be a good wife, gave birth alone, and raised a son who now disrespects her and favors the mistress over her. He and her brat of a son want to play house and be a family with the mistress? Go ahead. Why should the female lead care about the 2 who never loved or respected her? He even lets his son call his mistress mom. How disrespectful is that? That right there should have been proof and a hint that the female lead was done with them. That she wants nothing to do with them. As she told him, he brought the mistress to live in their house. They act more like a family than they ever did with her. She's just giving him what they wanted. Since they never cared about her in the first place. I love how the female lead's father lectured him. He was like, "It's no wonder my daughter left you. You invited another woman to your house. How can you not see she ruined and destroyed your family? And you dare to say there is nothing between you and your mistress?"
The only thing I disagree with the dad about is this: it was the HUSBAND who ruined his marriage, not the mistress. HE is the one who made marriage vows to the FL, HE is the one who owes her love, trust, respect, and loyalty. A mistress can’t “destroy” a family if the man is not a willing participant!

Are they seriously trying to sell us that the ML was completely oblivious to the green tea teacher coming on to him the whole time? I think the major problem in the story was that teacher Su couldn’t boil an egg. If she was able to cook, father and son wouldn’t bother to miss FL and everyone would be happy and satisfied 🤔

I don't even know what her ex expected of her. He was the one who drove her away. She was never someone he loved and when she left, he felt like she wronged him. Honestly, the homewrecker didn't even do much. All she did was flirt and act innocent. She didn't make the ex do anything. At the end of the day, if he had even respected and loyal to his wife a little bit, he wouldn't have given homewrecker a chance. It was his fault, he made that choice.
I didn't like the husband and son, but I didn't like the wife (Female Lead) either! She had no reason to: * Present her husband with the completed divorce, without even being present, instead of telling him like an adult before the fact. * Leave her son without saying goodbye or even attempting to stay in contact with him; no matter how bratty he was, he was a child. * Push her child away when he was attempting to give her a gift and was saying he was sorry. * Lie multiple times to the kid with brain cancer. Things like she would never leave him, despite having no intention of keeping that promise, and then actually leaving soon after. There were multiple examples of behaviors like this that I found disturbing by the FL. So I didn't like her more than show's supposed bad guy, the ML. I ended up not rooting for anyone, and didn't care what happened to her.
Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that it was implied that the FL openly manipulated the ML into marrying her for her medical genius. To help his business. Just, wow. What a couple.

I don't think she "let" it happen. It is the mistress who brainwashed the child against his mom. Sometimes in a daily routine, it is hard to notice that things are going wrong. 56:48 at this point, the father should have told the child, "yes. Yes, I completely agree. It's true the husband was abusive. But, she literally did nothing about it until she got the second chance and finally decided to divorce. If she let her kid get brainwashed without doing anything, did she protect the kid? I would have done everything in my power to separate him from that woman (in an extreme case getting a stay order from the courts) even if it ruins marriage. Protecting my child's body and mind comes first. Both the mom and dad should be ready to have a kid, or not have one at all.
It's her fault for expecting to buy his love with her research. It's a marriage of interests on his part, and I'm only sorry it took her a death and rebirth to figure that out.
It is truly terrible when the father teaches the son to be disrespectful to his mother. Made me want to cry when FL's "2nd son" loved her like she should have been loved by her biological son. Also it was pretty generous of them to recommend a fellow researcher. 1:26:06 also I'm glad that the ML didn't poison his son's mind against his mom (and they both lived their lives knowing they had made a mistake). I wanted to see this ending. I don't think it's an open ending.

Having spent most of this energy calling the FL cruel while trying to convince her to come back, in the ten years that she was abroad, the ML realised his mistake and didn't make excuses for his and the son's behavior. He ensured that his son recognised the FL's achievements and was proud of her. He realised that he and his son were both wrong, and his son grew up with that knowledge. And I don't think the son ever called the other woman mom after his mom left him.
Near the end, when the son asked his father about Teacher Su, you can tell son favored his father getting together with the teacher as Teacher Su was still waiting for the father. An echo of the previous life.

Her ex-husband and child treated her like a slave, with no respect, caring, or love. Only a person can take so much abuse. After it, they can walk away without looking back. She wasn't happy when she was in a relationship with her ex and child. Her wake-up call was when she was dying and realized that her child and husband abandoned her for his mistress. It was at this moment that she decided to walk away. Good for her. Nice message, y'all. Don't lose yourself instead embraced you.
I found this one confusing. Why when the 2nd FL attempts to manipulate the ML (this is in general in all dramas) it is wrong, but then the FL does it and gets her karma bc of it we defend her? She intentionally manipulated him into marrying her, knows that he does not love her, becomes this submissive stay at home do everything for the ML to love and then cries fowl at karma. The only true innocent victim is their son. Children’s first guides are the parents. He mimics his father bc he sees strength while the mother is only showing submission and no one is correcting his behavior. Both FL and ML lived the consequences they deserved due to the choices they made. She chose manipulation and he chose to be manipulated. He resented her for it, thus, his treatment of her and she accepted it for fear of losing him. I loved when she finally chose herself and I loved that he had to fight for her. My heart tho goes to the child bc the parents forgot to parent. This is my opinion of this drama.
She didn't manipulate him though. She only suggested the possibilities if he were to marry her. In the same breath, he promised her marriage. He could have accepted the gift & still rejected the marriage.
I think it is great to talk about her breaking it but there were so many mistakes she made which she could've rectified when she traveled back. A woman accepting to be on the receiving end is not an equal relationship. If she fought and he exerts effort to rectifiy the mistakes then their bond would have become stronger. That is how relationship progress. She cannot blame him for the mistakes yet to commit but only for what has been made already. If she tried to change the power dynamics then it is a different story. Well problem with people is, they don't want to fight.
Well… I was thinking this was good, but got totally let down at the end. There is no real solid ending, just a sort of cliffhanger. I say sort of because FL gave her answer to which man she would choose just before the two men showed up with flowers. Most viewers don’t want to accept her words, she sealed her heart with cement. I still think this is a good story. 👍

Although the story is good but the child's character makes me sad. There's no way in hell a child would treat his/her mother that way. Child being stubborn is part of growing up but not to the extent that disowning his mother is the best way.

While these types of Ml are hateful, I don’t feel as much pity for the Fl either because if he loved you then after marriage changed I feel bad but he never loved you, he was always cold, self centered and yet you still chased and married him. I saw someone in the comments say she hoped he will change and that’s the problem stop hoping this men will love you if you try hard enough. Her 7yrs of pain are self inflicted, it’s good she has woken up and this time may she love herself more and find someone who loves her. Remember for a relationship to be happy both parties should be actively trying hard

This one was a bit odd but not unenjoyable. The kid was so creepy at the beginning I was sure he was the drama's antagonist. It felt like this was written by a woman trapped in a loveless marriage surrounded by thankless kids and this script was her way of coping. The mother going off to cure brain cancer while her husband becomes a monk was a bit comical but still cathartic. People might be a bit confronted by the story of a mum leaving their kid behind (no matter how creepy and horrid he is) but if you can accept that it might be a fun hour and a half watch. Spoiler: the ending pretends to be open ended but it seems pretty obvious to me that she'd still reject the ML
I agree with your review, but for me a kid should not bear the brunt of parents' dispute. Mom could take the kid with her and teach him to be a better humankind fr he's still young and teachable still.

Yes the son was cruel and thoughtless at first, but he definitely learned how he hurt his mom and tried to repair the relationship. At his oung age, I wouldn't have held it against him and cut off all contact like she did at first...it sounds like they kept in contact after she moved abroad though, so that's at least something.
While you all are talking about the ending, I wish we could see a reconciliation of the FL and her son. While he's obviously heavily influenced by his father's emotions, he's still her flesh and blood and should spend time with her getting to know her and letting her see he's outgrown the childhood phase. Frankly, that's more important than which man she chooses...
This kind of plot is a bit out of the ordinary, but if this situation arises like kind of unliking the husband and child bec of their bad behavior towards her, it's more acceptable that she goes on her merry way than continuously live with those two, before she was a wife and a mother, she was a human being first and she's got the right to be happy and stay away from what hurts her the most
I’ve seen other versions/variations of this one, open ending too. It’s the first time I see this whole cast. Not always one sided love magically become mutual after years of marriage, she pursued him until he married her but never showed her love, the SFL only took advantage of the cold or distant relationship (still wrong) and after FL decided (on her own again) that she had enough and left, the ML realized that he wanted his family unit to remain. I dislike the fact that she was cruel to her own child (she literally pushed him to the ground) instead of trying to maintain somewhat of a relationship.
The ML did realize that he wanted his family intact-that does not mean he loved her or respected her. He just liked having someone wait on him hand and foot, ignoring her own career and all of her personal needs. Who wouldn’t want that!?

His father made it clear to him that his mother's only mission in life was to serve them, and could be nothing more than a housewife. The husband even told her to her face. The role of raising a child is never the sole responsibility of one parent if both of them are still alive. If anything both failed. The husband as both a spouse and father, the fl's major fault was the failure to put her foot down early on.

I loved it when she snapped. She said for 7 years, she tried to be a good wife, gave birth alone, and raised a son who now disrespects her and favors the mistress over her. He and her brat of a son want to play house and be a family with the mistress? Go ahead. Why should the female lead care about the 2 who never loved or respected her? He even lets his son call his mistress mom. How disrespectful is that? That right there should have been proof and a hint that the female lead was done with them. That she wants nothing to do with them. As she told him, he brought the mistress to live in their house. They act more like a family than they ever did with her. She's just giving him what they wanted. Since they never cared about her in the first place. I love how the female lead's father lectured him. He was like, "It's no wonder my daughter left you. You invited another woman to your house. How can you not see she ruined and destroyed your family? And you dare to say there is nothing between you and your mistress?"
The only thing I disagree with the dad about is this: it was the HUSBAND who ruined his marriage, not the mistress. HE is the one who made marriage vows to the FL, HE is the one who owes her love, trust, respect, and loyalty. A mistress can’t “destroy” a family if the man is not a willing participant!

I didn't like the husband and son, but I didn't like the wife (Female Lead) either! She had no reason to:
* Present her husband with the completed divorce, without even being present, instead of telling him like an adult before the fact.
* Leave her son without saying goodbye or even attempting to stay in contact with him; no matter how bratty he was, he was a child.
* Push her child away when he was attempting to give her a gift and was saying he was sorry.
* Lie multiple times to the kid with brain cancer. Things like she would never leave him, despite having no intention of keeping that promise, and then actually leaving soon after.
There were multiple examples of behaviors like this that I found disturbing by the FL. So I didn't like her more than show's supposed bad guy, the ML. I ended up not rooting for anyone, and didn't care what happened to her.
Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that it was implied that the FL openly manipulated the ML into marrying her for her medical genius. To help his business.

Yes, I completely agree. It's true the husband was abusive. But, she literally did nothing about it until she got the second chance and finally decided to divorce. If she let her kid get brainwashed without doing anything, did she protect the kid? I would have done everything in my power to separate him from that woman (in an extreme case getting a stay order from the courts) even if it ruins marriage. Protecting my child's body and mind comes first. Both the mom and dad should be ready to have a kid, or not have one at all.

It is truly terrible when the father teaches the son to be disrespectful to his mother. Made me want to cry when FL's "2nd son" loved her like she should have been loved by her biological son. Disrespect and betrayal is difficult enough to take from a husband, much less your own child. The husband and child may have learned their lesson but the betrayal was too deep for her to forgive. I know the feeling.

Having spent most of this energy calling the FL cruel while trying to convince her to come back, in the ten years that she was abroad, the ML realised his mistake and didn't make excuses for his and the son's behavior. He ensured that his son recognised the FL's achievements and was proud of her. He realised that he and his son were both wrong, and his son grew up with that knowledge. And I don't think the son ever called the other woman mom after his mom left him.
Near the end, when the son asked his father about Teacher Su, you can tell son favored his father getting together with the teacher as Teacher Su was still waiting for the father. An echo of the previous life.

I found this one confusing. Why when the 2nd FL attempts to manipulate the ML (this is in general in all dramas) it is wrong, but then the FL does it and gets her karma bc of it we defend her? She intentionally manipulated him into marrying her, knows that he does not love her, becomes this submissive stay at home do everything for the ML to love and then cries fowl at karma. The only true innocent victim is their son. Children’s first guides are the parents. He mimics his father bc he sees strength while the mother is only showing submission and no one is correcting his behavior. Both FL and ML lived the consequences they deserved due to the choices they made. She chose manipulation and he chose to be manipulated. He resented her for it, thus, his treatment of her and she accepted it for fear of losing him. I loved when she finally chose herself and I loved that he had to fight for her. My heart tho goes to the child bc the parents forgot to parent. This is my opinion of this drama.
The Female Lead made many morally dubious decisions, so I ended up not liking or rooting for anyone. I feel like I wasted my time.

I think it is great to talk about her breaking it but there were so many mistakes she made which she could've rectified when she traveled back. A woman accepting to be on the receiving end is not an equal relationship. If she fought and he exerts effort to rectifiy the mistakes then their bond would have become stronger. That is how relationship progress. She cannot blame him for the mistakes yet to commit but only for what has been made already. If she tried to change the power dynamics then it is a different story. Well problem with people is, they don't want to fight.

Well… I was thinking this was good, but got totally let down at the end. There is no real solid ending, just a sort of cliffhanger. I say sort of because FL gave her answer to which man she would choose just before the two men showed up with flowers. Most viewers don’t want to accept her words, she sealed her heart with cement. I still think this is a good story. 👍

Although the story is good but the child's character makes me sad. There's no way in hell a child would treat his/her mother that way. Child being stubborn is part of growing up but not to the extent that disowning his mother is the best way.

This one was a bit odd but not unenjoyable. The kid was so creepy at the beginning I was sure he was the drama's antagonist. It felt like this was written by a woman trapped in a loveless marriage surrounded by thankless kids and this script was her way of coping. The mother going off to cure brain cancer while her husband becomes a monk was a bit comical but still cathartic. People might be a bit confronted by the story of a mum leaving their kid behind (no matter how creepy and horrid he is) but if you can accept that it might be a fun hour and a half watch. Spoiler: the ending pretends to be open ended but it seems pretty obvious to me that she'd still reject the ML
I agree with your review, but for me a kid should not bear the brunt of parents' dispute. Mom could take the kid with her and teach him to be a better humankind fr he's still young and teachable still.

Yes the son was cruel and thoughtless at first, but he definitely learned how he hurt his mom and tried to repair the relationship. At his oung age, I wouldn't have held it against him and cut off all contact like she did at first...it sounds like they kept in contact after she moved abroad though, so that's at least something.
She needed to get away from him so he could break the cycle of manipulation and the pernicious influence of his father's disrespectful attitude.

While you all are talking about the ending, I wish we could see a reconciliation of the FL and her son. While he's obviously heavily influenced by his father's emotions, he's still her flesh and blood and should spend time with her getting to know her and letting her see he's outgrown the childhood phase. Frankly, that's more important than which man she chooses...
This kind of plot is a bit out of the ordinary, but if this situation arises like kind of unliking the husband and child bec of their bad behavior towards her, it's more acceptable that she goes on her merry way than continuously live with those two, before she was a wife and a mother, she was a human being first and she's got the right to be happy and stay away from what hurts her the most

I’ve seen other versions/variations of this one, open ending too. It’s the first time I see this whole cast. Not always one sided love magically become mutual after years of marriage, she pursued him until he married her but never showed her love, the SFL only took advantage of the cold or distant relationship (still wrong) and after FL decided (on her own again) that she had enough and left, the ML realized that he wanted his family unit to remain. I dislike the fact that she was cruel to her own child (she literally pushed him to the ground) instead of trying to maintain somewhat of a relationship.

The ML did realize that he wanted his family intact-that does not mean he loved her or respected her. He just liked having someone wait on him hand and foot, ignoring her own career and all of her personal needs. Who wouldn’t want that!?
I don’t care if this was her 2nd life… she failed as a mom in both.

His father made it clear to him that his mother's only mission in life was to serve them, and could be nothing more than a housewife. The husband even told her to her face.
The role of raising a child is never the sole responsibility of one parent if both of them are still alive. If anything both failed. The husband as both a spouse and father, the fl's major fault was the failure to put her foot down early on.

Can someone clarify if this is a thing in China? Can you just divorce somebody without telling them? Especially with property and kids? Seems unusual...
It's the first time the heroine is brave and holds her disobedient husband and son accountable. I really enjoyed it. 😂😂😂
