Zecora is in a life or dead situation, but she continues to rhyme, either she is magically forced to do it, or she is just very commitmented to the bit
Except that she stops rhyming in the episode, meaning that it’s a commitment rather than a magical spell placed on her
@@summermelody7942 I knew someone would correct me, somehow, thank you sir or mam or other
probably a compulsive habit
The season 10 comics tell about this, it's a choice she made
I wonder if she rhymes in other dubs
Mlp casually dropping one of the most terrifying fictional disease I’ve ever heard of and everyone is so casual about it
Is a Troll 2 kind of de4th xd
And we never hear about this disease again. Not even in Season 8 when we see Mage Meddlebrook again!
@@cosmiccod6284 ikr
IKR! There's a literal fanfiction taking place right after the episode based on a theory (possibly made by the author) where the Everfree Forest's magic came from ponies that got the disease.
@@carolinecheneywaaaaait link??? i gotta read this
Swamp fever is one of the creepiest things in this series imo
Like, that’s some kid friendly body horror right there
Twilight has truly become Celestia's successor.
Does nothing, lets everyone else do everything, profits.
and that's why in G5 every pony is segregated and the fall of Equastera happened lol
@@savageratentertainment Tbf I was half joking but I would argue it was due to Luster Dawn not Twi.
When you realize that thanks to the Roman empire style collapse in G5 the cure got lost AGAIN only this time with no hope of finding it again.
O h
With new earth ponies' power to manipulate plants they probably can just undo the effect.
What’s going on with g5 right now? I saw the movie but didn’t know if that was it or if there are episodes somewhere. If there are episodes, where are they watchable?
@@EkipsogelNetflix
infection au
It is one of the darkest episodes imo. There is a graveyard of dead ponies in plain sight right at the beginning of the episode. Dead, transformed against their will.
Come to think of it, MLP has a history of terminal diseases under the veil, like cutie-pox or love poison.
It's great
"Swamp fever" acts very much like a cordyceps fungus that we find in the real world, which i find pretty interesting.
Then thoes tiktok aus took it to last of us levels
Never liked this episode because it always bothered me how NO ONE apart from Fluttershy gave a single damn that Zecora was dying. You'd think all the girls would be willing to help? And AppleBloom?? And why didn't Fluttershy and Twilight consult Discord or Celestia? None of this would've been an issue if the disease wasn't deadly so I have no idea why the writers decided to make it chronic
Feels incredibly out of character for them to just seemingly stop caring about Zecora in this episode given all she's done for them and the fact that she was.. y'know, dying.
It feels like everyone only started caring when it was affecting them.
I think it's an interesting episode, but I hate how the writing portrays some of the characters - many of whom are meant to be Zecora's friends, yet they spend most of the time just.. not caring about her apart from Fluttershy.
@@clockwork3494 And a few episodes after this Rarity and Pinkie Pie go to Zecora to get a potion. It makes them seem like terrible people who only care about her when they need something from her. Such a weird episode, the premise was pretty interesting, I like the idea of swamp fever disease, but the way it was handled was just bad. Honestly lots of episodes from the later seasons had the characters act incredibly OOC to me
@@JellyFishGell Maybe that was why Zecora never labelled the bottles. she wanted payback lol
Yeah. I like this episode but always hated that everyone seemed so nonchalant about it.
And that would actually makes sense like imagine Zecora mentions the healer go to twilight both talk to Celestia who knows the healer is real but lack information as she might only see her once or twice and discord not appearing to just give instructions and not helping (cause why would he? It's better if they found the natural cure)
2:56 bonus sin:
Those definitely non-carriage tires imply that ponies do have the automotive technology. But since actual cars are used/seen extremely rarely, how come these tires make all the way to this old distant village to be used as pier bumpers?
Add *ponies car industry* to The List Of Plotlines Unresolved By Hasbro
Unless, the tires aren't for automotive purposes. They were just the most convincing shape and size to be easily carried, fastened, and effective.
There was a time when horse-drawn carts and carriages switched over to automotive tires in places where cars were still prohibitively expensive. Tires could also be used on tractors, which although we never see them in the show, might make some sense in-universe.
I like how most of the issues I had with this episode were acknowledged in this video. Fluttershy not getting the moss herself when she can fly over the water, Twilight not being able to save everyone despite her own intelligence and detective skills, Apple Bloom's absence which is sadly likely to make Marks and Recreation somehow stronger despite how badly it had to portray the CMC for the story to work, it's a real mess.
So this is what inspired all those creepy pastas
Yup. Grandma Infection/Virus.
Oh dear god not those again.
Black tree disease
Ah yes the episode that inspired all the horrifying tree body horror in the infection aus
Humor is the greatest vehicle for a serious message; it acts as a Trojan horse for truth.
7 minutes!? That’s an academy record! (Probably)

It relased an hour ago!!!
@@Cranberry_Juice935 what does that have to do with the video being 7 minutes long?

headcanon: fluttershy was secretly a tree off screen. BIGGEST SIN.
They say the transformation into a tree is permanent, they never said it could be cured with alicorn or chaos magic.
They never said it COULDN'T either 😊
Sin: When Mage Meadowbrook was first mentioned back in The Cutie Map she was described as an eastern unicorn. Here she's shown as a southern Earth pony.
You're right, I never realized! While I'm sure it's just a reused name, it's interesting to think about if it was the same pony. Like she was referenced as having enchanted items and being an Eastern healing unicorn, but we could potentially just chalk that up to history being wrong. Like if her legend was passed down through oral tradition, that means she was remembered as being so impressive at healing that she must have been a unicorn, and her potions etc were so powerful they MUST have been enchanted.
And idk maybe she's from the Southeast? No fun fake lore for that part otherwise lol.
Me: I can't wait a whole month for the next one!
Also me: *watches the episode 30 minutes after its released*
Here's a sin for you: The episode delivers a lesson against pushing one's self too hard, but a.) Fluttershy had no idea how long Zecora had to live, and b.) Swamp Fever was revealed to be highly contagious. Fluttershy had a perfectly logical reason to forge ahead as quickly as possible.
To this day "A Health of Information" is considered to be one of the most dark episodes of the entire FIM series.
I mean who'd ever have thought that there was a disease in Equestria that could literally turn ponies into trees. In fact that often reminds of the Beast from "Over The Garden Wall" since he had the power to turn people into trees.
And seeing Zecora being the sick one for a change was just sad, But I believe that the writers probably thought that since Zecora is always the one helping creatures with her potions and what not, It was time for somepony to help heal Zecora for a change. And hearing Zecora not rhyme for the first time was just nuts.
It was also interesting to learn about another Equestrian legend, IE Mage Meadowbrook. Her story about becoming a healer is one of my favorites! And it was good setup for another one of the Pillars.
Anyway, I was happy that Fluttershy and Twilight were able to get the flash bee honey and cure Zecora in the end.
Ah, so this is where the infection AUs came from
I COMPLETELY forgot it was the first until I got the notification
This episode gives me such COVID-19 vibes lol
Okay.
@@ButterscotchMcBean1995o
youre only thinking that because its a desease
is covid real? yes.
is it also a wierd fictional parasitic zombie plant thing?
no.
In fairness, if a pony is coughing, that makes it possible that it's infectious. From at least what I know from diseases, coughing is how a lot of diseases are contagious. I might be wrong though
It's crazy how Twilight doesn't consider this as a life or death situation. Totally Legit Recap was right, it's like Twilight completely missed the part where you'd die.
As I recall it being remarked about in Bronies React, yeah, Twilight doesn't take the case of Zecora being sick with a rare sickness like this seriously, but will pull an all-nighter for info on a spell cast by Starswirl and his friends. As cute as it was for her to have a baking competition with Spike, her priorities just weren't straight here. I enjoyed the episode nonetheless.
Taking a magical healer to a doctor... Am I the only one who sees the flaw in that? Zecora should've known about the flower that made her sick!!
Fluttershy was so close to living out her dreams of becoming an actual tree!
Thank you for the Lens Flare PSA!!
We can try to make the argument that Discord can only undo his own magic. He can manipulate reality, sure; but if petrifing him in stone makes all his chaos magic go away, that implies none of his magic is permanent.
Love the animation of Twilight just levitating the honey out XD
I spent longer on that than I'd like to admit XD
*[shudders in PTSD]* is my new favorite caption
The month passed quickly but it always feels like ages until the next Cinemaresins video, that’s how great this series is :)
couldn't agree more
3:04 reminds me of pre-princess Twilight's more snarky attitude, which I always preferred.
4:07 I literally "😬" at the edgy pony OC, the memories man...
Littleshy your videos are so rewatchable so im always happy when you upload more
Its illegal we didn't get fluttertree in this episode
2:23 Silly LittleShy obviously the books in the library magically change topic every time something new needs to be researched
1,000 sins for Fluttershy not even gaining a twig over the span of 5 DAYS
"NONSTICK PANS!"
Season 1: “I’d like to be tree!”
Season 2: Is a tree for a sec
Season 7: “I GOT SWAMP FEVER!!!”
Who told Fluttershy being a tree was bad?
You think on their off time, Discord messes with fluttershy and actually turned her into a tree?
I just spent all night and most my day watching every episode of this series and then this comes out😂
Good show, jolly good show.
No, but seriously, why was Twilight so nonchalant about Zecora dying?
I mean, they don’t explicitly say she’s dying (kids show an all) but there’s no mention of reversing the tree curse, so if Zecora isn’t cured, she’ll be a tree forever
Maybe Twilight just didn’t care much for Zecora (darn zebra racist)
Pretty sure Twilight was the one who reminded everyone about their racist remarks against Zecora when she was first introduced. So it's definitely not about racism but I'm pretty sure Twilight have always had this habit of not taking things seriously that take priority. So I guess in her head it didn't seem like that big of a deal or you know plot convenience, they wanted to make Twilight a dumb dumb here so Fluttershy could have her moment to shine 💀
NON-STICK PANS
Wait if Meadowbrook didn't reveal the method of collecting the honey, that means that she knew she was the only one who knew how to collect it and therefore the only pony who knew how to cure this awful disease. It's a little understandable, while still messed up, that she didn't reveal her secret to maintain her profits. However, if she knew trapping the Pony of Shadows would trap her as well, she wouldn't leave some instructions for the generations after her?
I think she got trapped in limbo before she ever got the chance to document the cure.
@@Selkie_17 But you see the problem right? They knew that trapping the Pony of Shadows would also trap them so it wasn't a shock when it happened. So she would have likely had the opportunity but probably forgot
In an alternate universe this episode is about a zombie-esque mind ruining disease while TikTokers come up with a disease that turns ponies into trees.
The best monthly tradition! ❤
0:25 Why? She didn't eat the doctor XD
But she ate the cameraman :D
Dear LittleshyFiM,
I got to respect how you've been going at this to this day; I say it because I have started the show recently and occasionally watching these, and after I watched _TSSCS6k_ I started watching each Cinemare Sins alongside each episode. This happens to be the first episode I saw after I outran this series, and it's still just as great. As of now I've finished _The Beginning of the End._
...if I had watched 1:06 any earlier I wouldn't have recognised it all, how timely. I literally watched 34 eps from July 1st to August 1st huh? Looks like I might finish the show just in time for my birthday on the 23rd.
Oh my goodness. I cannot believe that I didn't see the connection between Fluttershy saying she'd like to be a tree and the fact she almost turned into one in this episode.
This episode looks especially relevant during the pandemic =)
Here's another animation error I saw: the burn on Twlight's mane is flipped between transition despite walking in the same direction. (See 2:48-2:50)
pony
small horse👍
Sin
I actually recoiled at 5:36
nice catch
OP Discord and Twily really could remove any threat, heh
How we got from this to "happy to see his little girl" would require an hour long video essay
Twilight is jeli of Derpy holding the title of Best Pony, she's starting to imitate her...
0:38 No joke, I rewound the episode a lot of times to the beginning listening really carefully, and couldn't find a single dialog where she even mentioned it was pretty lol. 😭
The terror spawned years later from this very episode is unbelievable.
Awesome Video.
3:55 A weird comment, but I wanted to know what the name of the pink mare (thrird from the right) was, and apparently she's considered to be Red Gala, despite being a unicorn, having a different mane style and eye color and her cutie mark not being visible. Huh.
Underrated episode, top 15 episode in my book
This episode has inspired my favorite of the new “infection” au’s taking over the fan base.
i'm watching mlp for the first time and i can't believe mlp canonically has deep root disease. this is the crossover i never knew i needed
Ah yes, the episode that no doubt sparked the whole infection au trend. Something that lasted longer than most trends on that platform.
I blame this episode for all of my nightmares the last several months with those body horror AUs.
You forgot to mention that in the flashback there's way less swamp fever trees than in present day
I like to think there's another strain of Swamp Fever that merely causes extraordinary apathy, stupidity, or similar in its victims instead of turning them to trees. This is why Twilight cared more about the muffins, why Cattail seemed so dim (he did live in the swamp after all), and possibly why Fluttershy didn't contact Discord.
I actually think Swamp Fever was a very interesting concept that deserved a two parter (S7's premiere wasn't one; they do owe us one) where we see Ponyville's response to such a dangerous epidemic but perhaps that's too distressing for a kid's show.
0:44 i thought that too lol
dear god this episode spawned the divine swamp fever. STUFF OF NIGHTMARES MAN
I think we got a retroactive sin! I knew something didn't feel right. It was the first of the month, but I just couldn't shake the feeling something was missing. Then I remembered it was time for CinimareSins!
The hive hasn't moved because nothing wants to mess with those bees. So long as the hive has proper honey stores and flowers to produce honey, then the hive will last indefinitely so long as new queens and workers are being born.
2:17 Apparently canonically, all ponies have REALLY small brains. This makes too much sense…
Dude i’m still so glad too see you upload! your like one of the only bronies i still know till this day, you fucking rock!
I'm trapped here forever, the ponies will never let me leave! /)
@@LittleshyFiM NAURRRRR D:
5:58 twilight takes after her mentor Celestia confirmed
This episode was dark but I'm glad Fluttershy didn't become a tree.
Calling Discord's Fluttershy's husbando is so funny, but accurate.
To be fair, if Fluttershy DID ask Discord for help, and this is assuming he listens, the episode would only last 3 minutes.
Is this where the comics got the idea of Zecora idolising Meadowbrook from?
2:31 If THAT isn't a meme face, i don't know what is. Also, black and red OCs gave my book its antagonist (loosely. It's not MLP related) So I guess they're good for something...maybe.
Also, also...I forgot this episode and I forgot that I loved it back when it aired.
And so the rest of the show was fluttershy's tree dream (if Trees can dream)
Amazing job LittleShyFiM I really enjoyed this. Keep up the good work. Have a wonderful day my friend.
THANK YOUUU I LOVE TOU VIDEO ❤️❤️
This Entire episode is a more family friendly version of OTGW.
Man, the writers were cooking with this one. Such a scary illness
YAY birthday month video :3
Zecora's source is she saw it in a dream, leave the shaman alone bro. /s
7:05 SAY. HIS. NAME.
Amazing edit at the end.
I'd mainly quit the show by this point but checked in for this one as I heard good things about how insanely dark they went. Glad I did cause, yeah, wow that's genuinely great body horror. I couldn't get over though just how pony supremicist Twilight Sparkle was this how episode. She's borderline going, well sucks for her, but she's just a zebra so lol who cares. Not like she's a proper pony after all.
Derpy has test that we simpletons can not comprehend.😤
I really admire your commitment Littleshy. Marriage material tbh.
To all those people who think an MLP infection au could never happen in the canon universe
I feel so bad for Zecora every time this episode shows up in my vision in anyway. She deserves better. Flutters is great
Twilight and Spike are having a cook off huh? Where's the multiple people lined up to try your stuff Twilight? You got friends. Why didn't you invite them? You weren' going to... eat it all yourself, were you?
I can't belive that Fluttershy got rid of her wanting to be a tree phase. Also, this might be an unpopular opinion, but this is the best Fluttershy episode in the whole show.
You know, for every situation they get into, they could have just asked Discord to snap the the problem away. Of course, then there is always the chance of him "not feeling like it".
"But your waifu is in danger!"
* snaps the disease away and conjurs a book with all information about them and a cure in front of them for the future *
Future episode, need to find artifacts of the pillars.
"Excuse me, total stranger? I'm looking for a mask that belonged to someone by the name of Mage Medowbrook. Mind if I borrow it?"
this episode reminds me of that one mlp virys au
the black tree virus
For me personally this episode looks like it was written from some kind of fanfic with a tag OOC
Everyone acts as other characters. I didn’t even have noticed firstly that Twilight does think about muffins more but now I do rewatched and this is truth. Where’s Rarity, Rainbow, where’s everyone?
Disease with no cure, strange flowers, Zecora is sick. Why only Fluttershy gives a damn but where’s everyone? maybe equestria totally fucked and no one gives a damn
Why everyone forget about Zecora but then come to her later
Why Discord is not here? Discord could cure it for sure. Well, okay, let’s bring “Fluttershy feeling guilty and she decided not to bring him”, but I do found it strange how Twilight didn’t wrote to princess about it
To me, this episode looks like some typical fanfic with OOC. Everyone acts strangely, i can’t even describe but I get strange and bad vibes in past and now again. Like something just off. To me its really strange episode. Others also have flaws and coins but this one just doesn’t looks like official MLP episode but some kind of Fan-Made. But I think even Fan-Made will be better than THIS
Anyway, thanks for the video but I basically have no words
P. S. Also, i forget about something. Every episode have some kind of conclusion. What kind of conclusion we does have on THIS episode?
Get sick and everyone will leave you? Go and do random flowers and then die in your bed when princess and her friends doesn’t give a damn? I don’t understand, what kind of “friendship” conclusion does we have here? What should we do learn from this? Maybe I’m too much harsh but I didn’t have understood anything. I specially rewatched it again and I didn’t get what should I learn from this episode
