His songs are timeless. They can be applied to today as well as whisk you back to a time and place when you first heard them. Barry Manilow is Lenear! Time and space breaks laws of physics to transport you where you most yearn to be listening to his music.... Nat King Cole does the same thing for me.
While there are sneering Manilow critics out there aplenty, none of them have the genius it takes to put the notes and words together to make hit after hit, and the musical instinct, business savvy, and guts it takes to take those songs into a recording studio and make the kind of gold that warms hearts raises spirits, and 100,000,000.00 in assets.

This piano bar setting is really good for Barry. His voice has that same shattering quality we get on records, he comes across so warm and friendly, and he's 100% on the piano when his piano bar days are at least 20 years behind him. He doesn't come across as gay in any way. He's great in everything he does, this is just one more inspiring thing from him. Of course I shouldn't be surprised, piano bar is a low level talent and Manilow's a superstar.
I found his wonderful song about Studio Musicians really touching, especially when it got me curious about that profession. As a result "The Wrecking Crew" came to my attention. They were a BIG BIG part of the music industry for over a decade, especially in the 1960's. They got very little recognition outside of the recording industry even thought they had a hand in nearly every big hit.
