We found one in our kitchen utensils drawer and had absolutely no idea what it was for. We thought it might be some sort of medical tool. After a lot of research I finally found this video which tells me what it’s for but doesn’t tell us why we need to trim the wick and what (if any) the benefits are in doing so.
too much wick can result in a lot of unnecessary soot from leaving the candle, a wick that's too long can also produce a large flame which can break the glass of the candle, and overall it helps your candle burn longer when trimmed properly since the flame will be smaller helping the wax burn evenly & it'll prevent tunneling/uneven burning in the candle!! 😀

It reduces black smoke and too large a flame.
Medical tool, that's funny ... like FORCEPS MAYBE ! ? 😄

Ok, ok! Ok! You never stop learning.
@@lljones1593 Doesn't it also help the candle burn more equally?
Concise and helpful demonstration (no waffle like on some RUclips demos !)
I do this and it causes uneven burning
Where is this wick trimmer manufactured?
cclownyy toe nail clippers work fine :P
China
@@aaronwilliam7110 IS IT RELIABLE if made in China ?
A similar one is sold by "Yankee Candles" Company ... so I guess it's okay !
That doesn't even look lit. Don't your trim it afterwards?
You left it longer than 1/8”.
I bought a candle and the wick is already so short so I have no clue how to cut it so it’s not too short 😭
The wick should be 1/4th of an inch. Not 1/8th like this video says.
What part is considered the “elbow”?
2 years late, but it’s the bend of the trimmer
Ohm Bhatt 😂😂😂😂
Think of the elbow in your arm ! 🙂
Remember to switch your yankees off! Sweet dreams 😤😩😤
Nice video but my friend John disagrees.
I hat NO idea!
How do I measure 1/4 -1/8so I can trim the wick
you can place a quarter next to the wick and cut it to the height of where the quarter stops. hope this made sense
@@Mia-dl7kt That's a good idea ! I'm in the UK, but possibly a 5 pence coin would do ... 😉
