    What a time capsule. One of the last AEM-7s running “as-delivered” without ditchlights in 2000!

    Listen to that beautiful P01235. It's almost like it's saying, "You will miss me when I'm gone."

    That SF30C looked like it belonged on the Reading and Northern.

    6:45 why’s a diesel pulling the train instead of an electric loco?

    • @lappdawg27videos
      @lappdawg27videos  4 года назад +1

      Back then the switch to/from electric engines was done in Philly instead of Washington DC like it is now. This only applied to long distance trains that traveled south of DC.

      CTR Aerial I’m guessing there was a lack of electric locos during that time if that’s the case

      I can't remember if that was the reason or not. The E60s were still around back then and often powered the long distance trains, so I'm not sure if there was really a "shortage"...they just never seemed to run the E60s south of Philly.

    Were engine changes more common in Philadelphia?

    • @lappdawg27videos
      @lappdawg27videos  6 лет назад

      At this time yes, it was. All long distance trains changed engines in Philly. Keystone trains did as well

    Carolinian had a sleeper?

    • @tibbers3755
      @tibbers3755 6 лет назад

      edjbox yea they used to. Not anymoreas far as i can tell. All cars are standard amfleet coaches now. (which makes trips to charlotte frombaltimore tedious tasks)

      The Carolinian never had a sleeper. That last train was #90, the northbound Silver Palm.

      @@rttx That’s what I was thinking. Also, I never knew they ran P40/42s on the NEC.

    Nice! What is fast MAIL?

    • @lappdawg27videos
      @lappdawg27videos  8 лет назад +3

      It was a train that Amtrak operated up until 2002-ish. There were 2 trains, the southbound train #13 ran from Boston to Washington and carried only mail while the northbound train, #12, carried both passengers and mail.

    Now, FRA issues a safety announcement that they use Electric instead of Diesel. Earlier days, Diesel runs on the Northeast Corridor.
