Try refreshing your nat type, and make your port manual, but make sure not to change it. Just keep the port as it is, but change it from automatic to manual. Then join the game from either your camp or a random posse. If it doesn’t work the first time, try it again. It works for me (I play on Xbox)
Tip: when the game tells you that you entered legendary animal Territory. Activate eagle eye then go on your map. There should be a yellow ? Mark it the then go to it. The animal will be in that spot or really close
Gfm ..took me a frustrating hour or more, then when it did show up, so did poachers, and the beast kept attacking me while fighting the poachers. Such an ungrateful hog it was, lol after the ? Many clues and no 🐖....if you have a friend with you, it would help a lot.
The best way to level up is... wait 3 months and just use all the free role XP Rockstar will give out for new players that the rest of us hard working players will never be able to use.
that's technically true but a lot of people enjoy the grind and the gameplay hours the slow progression brings. I have like 6000 naturalist XP sitting in my benefits that I have no intention of claiming cuz I actually want to play the dlc lmao
She got mad if you bring a dead animal to her tent and she say "thats no animal" when you bring a dead human to her tent. And she respons when you taunt her and alot more dialogues and details are added to the game
When I did the poacher missions, I wait till all the poachers are dead and looted, then sedate the caged animal when it comes out and a take a sample. That way they can’t attack you and you get get a sample without having to hunt it down.
If you want an easy way to get legendary pelts you can start a legendary mission then kill and skin the animal to get the pelts and you keep them when you return to freemode.
@@Antpoison If you take a sample it won't let you skin the animal so you just kill them then the objective will change and it will tell you to skin the animal.

I honestly like it. It is extremely slow paced which gives me the option the explore and see this beautiful world again. Kinda like the collector role, just with animals. This role and update is showing the incredible depth this game has again, and is beginning to look more like the single-player. Solid 8/10 for me
What I expected: Me and the bois blowing up tracks to rob a large train of rich passengers and escaping the law in a large shootout What we got: I’m a gay vegetarian cowboy sedating animals and giving blood samples to a strange woman with magic pepper spray.
For the animal compendium in order to trade each set of animals in you don’t need to skin or photograph them you just need to sell their sample to Harriott and once you have sampled all the animals in an area you can trade it in for about $100 and 1000 naturalist xp
I wanna be an outlaw, rob banks, trains, stagecoaches, stores, whatever it is. Not a friend of a crazed vegan that drugs you if you kill a rabbit. Just give us heists, rockstar!
i agree as i'm also wanting to be an outlaw but it will have it's own role eventually just like the others.. i know not everyone wants to play outlaw some like hunting some like the trading aspect or bounty hunting as a lawman.. but it will come.. their finishing the tier 1 roles they want to add in.. cant pay an outlaw huge payouts on heists while other roles only pay so much.. this games going to be "tier based" on the roles which will follow with higher paydays
I was close to her location when a wolf attacked me (like 50ft down the road) so I killed it and she yelled at me. But when I saw her later she just said she wasn't happy, but nothing she could do. I've already killed 2 legendaries, the boar by McFarlane's ranch, and the elk by Cholla Springs and made the coats. I then went bk to her for more tranq ammo. It's weird that we're getting different responses from her. I also loaded Cripps up thx to animal spawns finally being fixed. Update: I was finally able to get into the game and filled up Cripps. I then went to Harriet and she sprayed me. I went back to camp and continued hunting for Cripps. Went bk again, she sprayed me again. This new role makes the Trader obsolete. I don't know what R* was thinking.
I managed to max it today, right now there is a bug that allows you do do multiple missions continuously without waiting an hour each time, worth making the most of it
@@reusko4288 I literally just grinded the missions over and over, and tranquilized every animal I saw, and tool a sample. Don't bother with reviving or photos, just tranq, sample and once you reach level 5 spam missions
I've been playing since beta, when one of the only things to do was hunting for animals, and am very happy that animal spawns are back. I also love how this new role expands on the hunting aspects in the game.
I know a good chunk of the playerbase hates this update because it's not robberies or whatever, but personally I adore it. It gives you a reason to explore the world more fully, go to places you might not usually go, and just discover shit in general. It's fun going out and trying to find every animal thats part of a certain set and trade them in. Plus the intractability? Amazing imo. I remember going to do the legendary cross fox mission and found myself saying "Holy shit, it's still going??" (In a good way, it was very fun and interesting). Plus the fixed animal spawns! I've seen like 10 moose since they updated and it's amazing! I can understand why people may be upset it's not what they wanted, but I see a lot of people calling the update trash and its...really not. It may not be what you were expecting or hoping for, but its really not trash
The only thing I did to max out naturalist was collecting the farm animals set over and over again by riding to the farms where they spawn, seduce, ride away to Despawn them, wait 2 minutes and ride back to respawn em. The only annoying part was getting the Devon Bull since it's the rarest to spawn. But luckily the Mattock Pond farm has a small panel where only Bulls and Ox can spawn so I just respawned the animals there a bunch of times
For the people saying it's lacking in legendary clothing, there are a total of 49 legendary animals in this update, which have their own specific clothing details that are unlocked from Gus.
BTW you can start the Legendary Animal mission and kill the animal and skin it once you skin it the mission will be over but you will still have the pelt which you can sell to gus do this if you are having a hard time getting a specific animal
What I do is : 1. Do poachers mission and free the animals. 2. Take samples of turtle again and again. 3. After level 5 do legendary animal missions from Harriet.
I love the update! It’s definitely something I didn’t think I would like. When I first started it I spend an hour trying to figure out how to sedate the animals. And the trapper could have had more things to buy. All in all it’s an epic update

Hopefully it’ll be drip fed. I see a lot of potential with Gus too. I think they are saving it for future updates so they’ll have something new to give us every so often vs waiting 7 months to give it all at once, which seemed to upset a lot of players.
@@JC-li8kk no even if its drip fed theres barely anything in it at the minute. And most of the stuff there looks trash too. There should've been a much larger selection from the start. Its also way over priced. You turn in a legendary pelt for $16 then have to pay $350 to $700 for garment sets that dont even look that great, no to mention the coats on them are just re skins of each other. This whole update is basically a ripoff. Designed to just make players lose much more cash and gold than theyll gain.
@@luhenthomas not true. $700 isnt even high pricey for the naturalist role. Normal animal sets sell for about $120+ and legendary animal sets sell for $300+ up to $700 for the red and blond legendaries. You barely lose anything if you know where to grind man
@@Only1Left yeah you are bullshitting. If by "animal sets" you are on about samples it is really not worth it. Not when the spawns are unreliable asf, I spent over 2 hours trying to find all 14 animals on the desert section for a ram and sheep to not spawn at all. Only got around 20 - 30$ for the 12 (plus extras) which i took back. Legendary animals in the free roam only sell at gus for around $16, and half the time dont spawn, which then unlocks the trapper garment. They cost from $350 - $700. (Garment sets alone) Not to mention once you run out of the sedatives, tonics and other stuff they cost hundreds of dollars to replace with max amount. Theres probably a pamphlet to unlock tho, yet that probably costs hundreds too and a certain role level. Granted role level 5 unlocks them special missions but its really not worth the grind. Not when you can make twice as much money in half the time with the collector and moonshine. And then hunting the animals to refill trader and then sell. Its much more effective. Oh and not to mention you cant be killing animals with the naturalist or the stupid vegan feminist will be mad. And yet the trader role makes you kill animals... its a really dumb role.
Seeing you sell the samples in singles instead of waiting to have a full set hurt my soul a little haha! Its honestly hard work to complete one so i never sell anything to madam nazar or harriet unless its a complete set
Tips for new naturalists: Always kill and skin the golden spirit bear once unlocked the legendary animals as it gives you $50 If you kill animals sample the same amount so you don’t get drugged Best way to get lvl5 is to do a poachers mission then continue to do the grassland and and mountain lands field guide to earn $140 and 1k nat xp (This takes around 1hr-2hrs to complete) Don’t waste your money on animal reviver as it only gives you 10 more xp This is my personal way of ranking up fast and getting a decent amount of money 💙
I dumped 6 hours into the role yesterday and it honestly didn't feel this long so easy to get lost in the world of Red dead when you're enjoying it. I really hope they continue to update within the coming weeks and really make some big changes to it.
You can skin the animals and sell them to Gus via Harriett's legendary missions (she just gets mad). More and more get unlocked as you gain ranks in the Naturalist role. There are variants of a few legendary animals like the Fox and the Wolf that can only be encountered in free roam like a dynamic event or random spawn. They are really tedious to encounter but necessary to get certain outfits from Gus.
For those poacher missions if there is a predator animal then first get up on the cage and shoot the lock(you can do it at a certain angle). Keep the sedative rounds ready and sedate the animal and get it’s sample. I am doing this and I feel this will maximise the benefit.
Great video. I know this is an older vid but, just in case it hasn't been mentioned, while the legendary animals are a bit of a distraction as far as leveling up the Naturalist...they come in HUGELY handy if you turn them into Cripps for the Trader role.

Always give them to Gus there are hidden garment sets you can’t get until you sell the pelts to him just set up camp in the bayou and hunt a bunch of alligators for cripps
@@Zoogangler That'll work, too. Just be aware that setting up camp in the bayou and giving Cripps alligator skins is a slooooow method for creating goods. Cripps wants carcasses; not skins.

If you're going for the bear coat then you need a grizzly bear. Nothing else will work. Sometimes you have to skin an animal or you have to keep it as a whole. It tells you when you look at the ingredients
If you're not level five two things. Sedate a crap ton of big gators as the swamp is now a mine field of gators. Two complete the set that requires both the timber wolf and grey wolf as it's the easiest one to complete. Grey wolfs can be found pretty easily. While the more uncommon timber wolfs are found in the same area that leads to the sniper tower from the legendary bounty you get 1000 exp per set you complete. Plus 140 bucks for that set.
Ok so I have a couple questions about the legendary animals - 1.) Are they a one time kinda thing? Like if I track it down one day, can I do it again the next week? 2.) If you sell the legendary animal pelts to Gus, can he make an outfit for every one? I’ve seen the legendary coyote and the legendary wolf outfits, but I’ve also seen the boar and the elk outfit it one of the news tabs ( I know the elk one is a twitch prime reward but I’ve never seen or heard about anything about the boar one.) Thank you!
Rockstar really have let me down. 7 months for this? Where is the massive update? Only one role and it isn't that well developed , I hope Rockstar in the coming month develops or reveals the full developmemt of this new role. So what now? We have to wait 4+ months for an update like this? Stil don't understand why they do not copy some things of the story mode, it could be done easy and rapid. Or what about a México-Guarma map expansion , specially guarma which is very detailed and developed for just an hour of gameplay. Come on Rockstar you could literally just make a patch by updating only free roam ( trains with passengers, interact with NPCS(greet,antagonize,Rob), more dynamic NPCS events like in story mode, rework the camp, a working Witness system where you can actually stop witnesses, being able to get arrested instead of getting shot by the lawmen, and i can keep going) Please Rockstar it is not too much to ask considering most of this things are already done in the singleplayer mode of the game . Red Dead Redemption 2 Online has too much potential for it to be wasted like this, I hope something chances cause you are really becoming on a Parasite of a Game who is already passing down three generations of consoles

I personally love the new update! As a fairly passive/relaxed player that enjoys the natural beauty of the game, it’s nice to roam around collecting samples. An added bonus I wasn’t expecting is the comradery among players right now. Players are helping one another hunt and collect samples which is really nice compared to all the meaningless griefing I’ve been so accustomed to.
I´m actuaclly expirience some issues with the bounty wagon, when i do bounties and i call my wagon is says that is coming when i wanted to call it or it takes so long to come and it hurts when theres a lot and the time is too short to wait a lot for the wagon to come, i´ve lost a lot of bounties only for that issue
Same, but if you go to a stable you can make them active again, it's really annoying but as long as Rockstar doesn't correct this bug it's the only way to get the wagons back
I'm already level 20 on the role and the way I did it is do poachers missions and sampled most animals I saw. Once i got to level 5, I did Harriets legendary sightings and once I did them I roamed around.
If you don't get pepper sprayed every other time you talk to Harriet you'll love this role lol Its fun but ugh I hate that woman sometimes it sucks when I have to kill 3 or 4 wolves because they gang up on me only for her to get all pissy about it
Payes of Petty good too as you're doing it in a bigger group. You can sample each others sleeping animals. I really recommend doing the sample hunt in a posse!
I didn't even know where to get the camera, I looked it up on RUclips. Rockstar throws you in the deep, I studied some animals, did one poachers mission and I have no idea what else to do. Wait for rank 5 I guess so I can do the legendary animals!
Thats for my naturalist brothers go to a spot where many of wapitis are and try to get maximum of samples from male and females cause if you sell them you‘ll get like 4.70$. Have fun!
my tip would be use harriet for xp to get to rank 20 on naturalist role then after that you can hunt for Gus and get the clothes you like cuz you won’t need Harriet anymore

Naturalist is a cute time killer. Outlaw pass 3 is alright. The bug fixes are really nice and I've never seen the game run so smooth. I'm kinda over hunting/gathering pursuit roles, time for heists, ranching, horse breeding, private servers, and to finish up the main story line for RDO. I'm sure it is all coming, but like all you I'm hoping sooner rather than 7-8 months later.......

A classic activity in the west, sedating animals and taking samples of their blood. Most folks did this to pass the time between train robberies. You are correct.
Quick Tip for EXP Grinding: You know how Emerald Ranch has a bunch of animals? Wait until night and just sedate all of them. After that, Go to Flatneck Station and sedate their pigs. You'll probably get around 4000 EXP from it or something.

I like sedating animals in great plains, Buffaloes are slow and spawn in mass, easy samples. Also tall trees nearby

Headshots take it down quicker. You can take down even a grizzly in 4-5 shots
use dead eye to mark and shoot.

@@reusko4288 I literally just grinded the missions over and over, and tranquilized every animal I saw, and tool a sample. Don't bother with reviving or photos, just tranq, sample and once you reach level 5 spam missions
I've been playing since beta, when one of the only things to do was hunting for animals, and am very happy that animal spawns are back. I also love how this new role expands on the hunting aspects in the game.
I’m a person who actually really likes animals so being able to have a role where you go track animals and then revive them is amazing!
I know a good chunk of the playerbase hates this update because it's not robberies or whatever, but personally I adore it.
It gives you a reason to explore the world more fully, go to places you might not usually go, and just discover shit in general. It's fun going out and trying to find every animal thats part of a certain set and trade them in.
Plus the intractability? Amazing imo. I remember going to do the legendary cross fox mission and found myself saying "Holy shit, it's still going??" (In a good way, it was very fun and interesting). Plus the fixed animal spawns! I've seen like 10 moose since they updated and it's amazing!
I can understand why people may be upset it's not what they wanted, but I see a lot of people calling the update trash and its...really not. It may not be what you were expecting or hoping for, but its really not trash
The only thing I did to max out naturalist was collecting the farm animals set over and over again by riding to the farms where they spawn, seduce, ride away to Despawn them, wait 2 minutes and ride back to respawn em.
The only annoying part was getting the Devon Bull since it's the rarest to spawn. But luckily the Mattock Pond farm has a small panel where only Bulls and Ox can spawn so I just respawned the animals there a bunch of times

For the people saying it's lacking in legendary clothing, there are a total of 49 legendary animals in this update, which have their own specific clothing details that are unlocked from Gus.

BTW you can start the Legendary Animal mission and kill the animal and skin it once you skin it the mission will be over but you will still have the pelt which you can sell to gus do this if you are having a hard time getting a specific animal

What I do is :
1. Do poachers mission and free the animals.
2. Take samples of turtle again and again.
3. After level 5 do legendary animal missions from Harriet.

I love the update! It’s definitely something I didn’t think I would like. When I first started it I spend an hour trying to figure out how to sedate the animals. And the trapper could have had more things to buy. All in all it’s an epic update

I honestly love this update, event though it was confusing at first, the legendary animal hunts are where it’s at.

Exactly the content in the trapper is a real letdown. They had 7 months and this is the best they could do....
Hopefully it’ll be drip fed. I see a lot of potential with Gus too. I think they are saving it for future updates so they’ll have something new to give us every so often vs waiting 7 months to give it all at once, which seemed to upset a lot of players.

Its also way over priced. You turn in a legendary pelt for $16 then have to pay $350 to $700 for garment sets that dont even look that great, no to mention the coats on them are just re skins of each other. This whole update is basically a ripoff. Designed to just make players lose much more cash and gold than theyll gain.
@@luhenthomas not true. $700 isnt even high pricey for the naturalist role. Normal animal sets sell for about $120+ and legendary animal sets sell for $300+ up to $700 for the red and blond legendaries. You barely lose anything if you know where to grind man
@@Only1Left yeah you are bullshitting. If by "animal sets" you are on about samples it is really not worth it. Not when the spawns are unreliable asf, I spent over 2 hours trying to find all 14 animals on the desert section for a ram and sheep to not spawn at all. Only got around 20 - 30$ for the 12 (plus extras) which i took back. Legendary animals in the free roam only sell at gus for around $16, and half the time dont spawn, which then unlocks the trapper garment. They cost from $350 - $700. (Garment sets alone) Not to mention once you run out of the sedatives, tonics and other stuff they cost hundreds of dollars to replace with max amount. Theres probably a pamphlet to unlock tho, yet that probably costs hundreds too and a certain role level. Granted role level 5 unlocks them special missions but its really not worth the grind. Not when you can make twice as much money in half the time with the collector and moonshine. And then hunting the animals to refill trader and then sell. Its much more effective. Oh and not to mention you cant be killing animals with the naturalist or the stupid vegan feminist will be mad. And yet the trader role makes you kill animals... its a really dumb role.
Seeing you sell the samples in singles instead of waiting to have a full set hurt my soul a little haha! Its honestly hard work to complete one so i never sell anything to madam nazar or harriet unless its a complete set

Tips for new naturalists:
Always kill and skin the golden spirit bear once unlocked the legendary animals as it gives you $50
If you kill animals sample the same amount so you don’t get drugged
Best way to get lvl5 is to do a poachers mission then continue to do the grassland and and mountain lands field guide to earn $140 and 1k nat xp (This takes around 1hr-2hrs to complete)
Don’t waste your money on animal reviver as it only gives you 10 more xp
This is my personal way of ranking up fast and getting a decent amount of money 💙
I dumped 6 hours into the role yesterday and it honestly didn't feel this long so easy to get lost in the world of Red dead when you're enjoying it. I really hope they continue to update within the coming weeks and really make some big changes to it.
You can skin the animals and sell them to Gus via Harriett's legendary missions (she just gets mad). More and more get unlocked as you gain ranks in the Naturalist role. There are variants of a few legendary animals like the Fox and the Wolf that can only be encountered in free roam like a dynamic event or random spawn. They are really tedious to encounter but necessary to get certain outfits from Gus.
Always kill the moostone wolf that garment set is fire I’m trying to get rank five for it I was rank 1 yesterday and I got to rank 3 almost 4
I recommend that you do the naturalist daily challenges too. They are quick and easy and I believe that you get 150 naturalist exp.

For those poacher missions if there is a predator animal then first get up on the cage and shoot the lock(you can do it at a certain angle). Keep the sedative rounds ready and sedate the animal and get it’s sample. I am doing this and I feel this will maximise the benefit.

Great video. I know this is an older vid but, just in case it hasn't been mentioned, while the legendary animals are a bit of a distraction as far as leveling up the Naturalist...they come in HUGELY handy if you turn them into Cripps for the Trader role.

Always give them to Gus there are hidden garment sets you can’t get until you sell the pelts to him just set up camp in the bayou and hunt a bunch of alligators for cripps
@@Zoogangler That'll work, too. Just be aware that setting up camp in the bayou and giving Cripps alligator skins is a slooooow method for creating goods. Cripps wants carcasses; not skins.

It is a huge update. Up to 200+ bug has been fixed. New role, weapons, clothing, animal spawn fixed and so on

If you're going for the bear coat then you need a grizzly bear. Nothing else will work. Sometimes you have to skin an animal or you have to keep it as a whole. It tells you when you look at the ingredients

If you're not level five two things. Sedate a crap ton of big gators as the swamp is now a mine field of gators. Two complete the set that requires both the timber wolf and grey wolf as it's the easiest one to complete. Grey wolfs can be found pretty easily. While the more uncommon timber wolfs are found in the same area that leads to the sniper tower from the legendary bounty you get 1000 exp per set you complete. Plus 140 bucks for that set.

Ok so I have a couple questions about the legendary animals - 1.) Are they a one time kinda thing? Like if I track it down one day, can I do it again the next week? 2.) If you sell the legendary animal pelts to Gus, can he make an outfit for every one? I’ve seen the legendary coyote and the legendary wolf outfits, but I’ve also seen the boar and the elk outfit it one of the news tabs ( I know the elk one is a twitch prime reward but I’ve never seen or heard about anything about the boar one.) Thank you!
Rockstar really have let me down. 7 months for this? Where is the massive update? Only one role and it isn't that well developed , I hope Rockstar in the coming month develops or reveals the full developmemt of this new role.
So what now? We have to wait 4+ months for an update like this? Stil don't understand why they do not copy some things of the story mode, it could be done easy and rapid. Or what about a México-Guarma map expansion , specially guarma which is very detailed and developed for just an hour of gameplay. Come on Rockstar you could literally just make a patch by updating only free roam ( trains with passengers, interact with NPCS(greet,antagonize,Rob), more dynamic NPCS events like in story mode, rework the camp, a working Witness system where you can actually stop witnesses, being able to get arrested instead of getting shot by the lawmen, and i can keep going)
Please Rockstar it is not too much to ask considering most of this things are already done in the singleplayer mode of the game . Red Dead Redemption 2 Online has too much potential for it to be wasted like this, I hope something chances cause you are really becoming on a Parasite of a Game who is already passing down three generations of consoles

I personally love the new update! As a fairly passive/relaxed player that enjoys the natural beauty of the game, it’s nice to roam around collecting samples. An added bonus I wasn’t expecting is the comradery among players right now. Players are helping one another hunt and collect samples which is really nice compared to all the meaningless griefing I’ve been so accustomed to.

I´m actuaclly expirience some issues with the bounty wagon, when i do bounties and i call my wagon is says that is coming when i wanted to call it or it takes so long to come and it hurts when theres a lot and the time is too short to wait a lot for the wagon to come, i´ve lost a lot of bounties only for that issue

I'm already level 20 on the role and the way I did it is do poachers missions and sampled most animals I saw. Once i got to level 5, I did Harriets legendary sightings and once I did them I roamed around.

Thats for my naturalist brothers go to a spot where many of wapitis are and try to get maximum of samples from male and females cause if you sell them you‘ll get like 4.70$. Have fun!
my tip would be use harriet for xp to get to rank 20 on naturalist role then after that you can hunt for Gus and get the clothes you like cuz you won’t need Harriet anymore

Naturalist is a cute time killer. Outlaw pass 3 is alright. The bug fixes are really nice and I've never seen the game run so smooth. I'm kinda over hunting/gathering pursuit roles, time for heists, ranching, horse breeding, private servers, and to finish up the main story line for RDO. I'm sure it is all coming, but like all you I'm hoping sooner rather than 7-8 months later.......
So far it’s more of a hobby than a role

The farm sheep from emerald is a little easier but you only get half of it

A classic activity in the west, sedating animals and taking samples of their blood. Most folks did this to pass the time between train robberies. You are correct.

I sold 1 at a time, made a complete set, then turned that in. I thought that, "This is the way." You get more something, don't you?
Quick Tip for EXP Grinding: You know how Emerald Ranch has a bunch of animals? Wait until night and just sedate all of them. After that, Go to Flatneck Station and sedate their pigs. You'll probably get around 4000 EXP from it or something.
Don't forget to get in a safe place when freeing the animal from the poachers , then get a photo and then knock it out and get a sample.
The Tatanka Buffalo showed up while I was at the fence at Emerald Ranch, now I have a great coat with big goofy hood that you can't replace!
I had a black cougar spawn, but my dumb ass used explosive sligs and ruined the pelt so I couldn't skin it. Waited over an hour easily for it to spawn
I like it cuz it forces free aim which makes it a challenge
You can also just switch lobbies if Harriet is mad at you, for me it fixed it
