This was a whirlwind! I love the feather dress on Stephanie so I'm sorry she couldn't get what she wanted, but I'm glad she also respected her mother's thoughts. Two weeks ago, I went with my soon-to-be daughter and her mom to try on wedding dresses. It was a magical experience! And I am thankful for *Say Yes to the Dress* because I've watched so many of these videos, and complained about the overly opinionated mothers, that I did the exact opposite. My new daughter's mom and I celebrated every dress she tried on. We encouraged her. And when we didn't like something, we were positive about it and only talked to each other about negative opinions after she left the room. Strangely, the dress she loved the most is the one both me and her Mom hated. Her second choice was the one me and her mom loved! Either way, as long as she walks down the aisle and says 'I Do' then my son and our combined family will be joyful because *It Is Their Day and we all recognize that!!* 🥰🤵🏽👰🏽
Love this!!!! When its my turn to be mother of the bride, I too will only be supportive. Its her day and I just want her to be happy. She's 16 right now so we have a while before these things will happen. When it does I will be approaching it the same way you did. I hope your son and daughter-in-law are very happy.
I feel if her daughter would have stop saying “Sex Kitten” maybe her mother would been on board. To me the daughter just kind of throw that in her moms face
I honestly think her daughter was beautiful in that and the first dress. But the mermaid definitely fit the style she wanted and she looks beautiful in it. But I love how sweet she is to her mom tho. I hope her marriage is a good one. ^^
I like this mom! No drama, just quietly stuck to her beliefs that there's a time and place for everything. I like that she quietly requested her daughter try on more dresses. I admit, I'm actually thrown off when the salesperson tries to override the mon, especially for something as personal as a wedding dress!
Whenever it say Yes to the dress in America they never give the bride a dress inside her budget. Say Yes to the dress Lancaster always puts brides in dresses under their budget 🙄 not one dress they put on her was inside the budget even though it was pretty generous of a budget 🙄
This bride is just trying to windup the mother by saying comments like “I want him to rip this off me” etc. just disrespectful, and once again the consultant pulls dresses so much more than the budget 🤦♀️
I agree with you and I said something similar. I think the bride needs to grow up. Her mother was not disrespectful to her daughter. Even when her mother said try on a few more, she said we come back, mom said ok.
The dress, head piece, veil, was perfect for a non-church wedding. I'm wondering if Mom would have liked it if she had tried on a shrug or some sort of top for the ceremony part and for the reception take it off making it two dresses in one? I believe Mom had asked about something like that and she was ignored, making me think it was the top she had trouble with. She could have tried on what her Mom asked for and maybe her Mom would have liked it.
She asked that useless "consultant" about a shrug, but the girl just looked blank and didn't bother to respond. Had Randy been in this one, he'd have had a solution that would have worked---and he'd have pulled dresses within budget, because he's a huge advocate of staying within it.
@@jb6712.. Yes I think Randy would have handled it differently. It is important to stay in the budget they want. I paid for my dress and was given a dress to try on that was beyond my budget to my surprise, even after 50 years I have never stopped thinking of that dress that I couldn't have.
I love how open and considerate they are of each other. The bride knows what she wants and is comfortable saying it but also loves her mom and values her opinion. Her mom has concerns about the sanctity of her daughter's marriage, but is understanding and willing to listen to her nonetheless because she also loves her. It's so relieving to see a familial relationship like this.
I don't think the bride should wear something she doesn't love just to please her mum, but I'm happy they left without a dress. Those dresses weren't just a little bit over budget, they were $2k more, that's offensive to common decency.
Now when I started watching the show decades ago, they usually fit pretty well with budgets. But they're in the $5,000 range, unless the bride has already told him it's okay to go in that range. That's a little off for them...
The first dress was awful. I agree the blue trim is so random and out of place. It sits weirdly on her hips too and the top and skirt don't go together- the top is all elegant and bejeweled while the bottom is like a big underskirt. It's something you'd put on a babydoll. The second one suited her except for the skirt, which was too big and made it look like a street sweeper. Too bad because the shape suits her, the detailing is lovely and sweetheart necklines are flattering on her. The third one was hideous. When you have beaded corset tops you can't contrast too much with the skirt, which is what they did by adding on that six year old's craft projects. The feathers on the fourth one would be so impractical and will be tattered and filthy by the end. They also look like a carpet. The top is nice.
It looked like someone dunked it into a vat of dye. Katie could have shown her ivory, blush or champagne gowns and she would've had her pop of color and still been traditional enough to satisfy her mother.
I absolutely love how respectful and loving the bride and her Mom were toward one another. Praying this was/is a really happy occasion and that the bride finds exactly The Dress.
Honestly with the headpiece, I felt that 3rd dress was so perfect, but I get that feathers are not for everyone lol Also the way she was selling the dresses to her mom was so extreme, like no wonder mom was uncomfy despite none of those dresses being overly revealing
I love the ruffled "cupcake" dress. I think she looks beautiful in it. I don't think, however, that she should be throwing the phrase "sex kitten" around so freely. it's just not how a bride should look on the most important day of her life. but maybe I'm just old fashioned.
Oh, it's a new Say Yes to the Dress upload! I've been binging episodes on youtube for the last week and it threw me off to not see any comments re: what was happening in the video lol. Edit: after finally watching, I do gotta say I kinda agree with mom! It seems like the daughter was just going for sexy/sexy kitten/shock factor almost, instead of just looking for that 'bridal moment" like most are. I wish her and her fiance the best though! I think their approach (talk it out, leave, think it over, try on a few more, then come back) was correct
yeah, when these brides start talking about wanting to look super sexy and ripping off bodices and whatnot i'm just like "well then just have sex in the middle of your ceremony and be done with it."
The atmosphere of Kleinfeld’s-knowing they have a reputation for expensive gowns, paired with the attention of being filmed for SYTTD, is a heady cocktail for a young woman looking for a bridal gown-hopefully a once-in-a-lifetime experience. There are other stores out there with lovely gowns and lower prices. Best choice was to walk away; I cannot imagine paying $5,300.00 for a wedding dress. $3,000.00 is a healthy budget to start with, Mom was quite generous.
I disagree with most of the people here. It is not her mother's wedding, it's hers. It's not disrespectful of her if she wouldn't choose the one her mother wanted.
I hope she ends up in this dress or a dress similar because it really suits her figure. I think it was unfair that they put her in a dress way over budget, when i know they have similar dresses that fit her budget.
these mothers need to remember that this will mpst likely be the most elaborate, expensive dress she will ever wear, unless she has more than one formal wedding. SHE needs to feel that she looks her very best, on her most important day of her life. The most important word is HER day, not mothers day.
At least Mom is willing to compromise. Shouldn't be any compromise, should just be "your my daughter, you look beautiful in anything, pick what you want", but. Since it is so important to her daughter, it's nice that there's a compromise available and a willingness to come back if she wants to.
Repeat after me. It's your daughter's day. It's your daughter day. Its your daughter's. Stop living vicariously through them. Stop emotionally blackmailing your daughter during one of the happiest times of her life.
She is just respecting her MOTHERS opinion. Why is that so bad? I respect my mother too and I would feel uncomfortable too if I was getting married in a dress that my mother a) pays for and b) doesn't like too much. If you think this is strict then idk... I would rather call it respecting my parents. But hey, I'm African and we value our parents.
I thought dress number two was gorgeous on this lady! And I also thought it was modest. Her girls weren't falling out. Don't understand mom's problem. I agree with the other comments that the bride should have quit saying the words sex kitten!
Why??? Why can these consultants not respect the budget??!! This is ridiculous! The bride said $3000.00! That is a healthy budget. So why are they even entertaining a gown that is over $5000. There's a whole lotta gowns that are well under her budget that are stunning. PS I do know why - it's called GREED. Not happiness for the bride. Just GREED.
My mom talked me out of the dress that I FULLY fell in love with and I can't stand looking at my wedding pictures to this day. Don't do it ladies! She even made me borrow my neighbors dress. The one I wanted was $225. Thankfully, with hard work and love, the marriage has lasted!!
So her budget was $3k, but the consultant was showing her dresses 2-2.5k over budget *sigh*. I know the bride said if she liked something she could add a little to the price, but almost double is not a little, I was thinking a few hundred over at most. I've seen plenty of these videos and there are some perfectly lovely dresses within her budget. I'm kind of pleased she went away to think some more on what she wants for a dress. Maybe her mum will be able to come around. Although, I'm more on her mum's side on this one. Sex kitten isn't quite right for a wedding. Keep that for a night out. Having a dress that's a little sexy isn't bad, but sex kitten just seems a tad much.
Also everyone saying she’s a good daughter (and she is)…but kudos to mom, i strongly believe that its because she has a good mom that shes a good daughter!
3k is absolutely not a bad budget... But still they couldn't put the bride in a single dress in her budget🙄... Typical Klienfield! She could have gotten so many options in that budget n style
I like that Mom did not say no, instead she asked that her daughter try a few more before finalizing her decision. I think mom wants to make sure her daughter isn’t rushing into something she might regret later, looking back at the photos. It never hurts to take a little time to be certain of your choices.
They should’ve let the mom pick a dress for the bride to try on, just so mom could see how unhappy the bride would be in anything other than what she wanted - which was the gorgeous mermaid dress that she tried on twice. Wish we knew what the bride eventually chose.
Hmmm. The bride is aware that this is a sacred rite of the church I would hope. Looking like a “sex kitten” should not be her goal during a religious service. I’m with Mom on this one.
In my opinion, the way Mom is dressed, Mom wants her daughter to be dressed like that on her wedding day. In my opinion, I believe Mom wants her daughter to get a loose fitting ball gown wedding dress with sleeves and the top part of the dress that covers the brides chest completely. I'm a Mom myself, I would let my daughter pick her own dress that makes her happy because if I chose my daughter's wedding dress than she will be unhappy on her wedding day and I wouldn't want that. I think this bride won't find the wedding dress that she chooses. I believe this daughter will wear a wedding dress her Mom picks.
I jst wish people could jst let go of what THEY want and just support the bride!! It what the bride wants! The bride is wearing the dress, not mamma. There is nothing scandalous about that dress! She looks beautiful!
i dont think there was anything scandalous about the dress a lot of people love and rock mermaid dresses. i do feel like it was off putting the perspective she was putting it out there as a 'sex kitten' I understand wanting to look sexy on ur wedding day, I certainly do as well but how she is putting it over makes I sound kinda pornographic and over-sexualized. i bet if she said that she wanted something fitted because she got great curves and wanna show off her body her mom would've been open to it more but the whole 'sex kitten' part is offputting. it doesn't make it feel like u wanna look sexy and beautiful on ur wedding day it kinda makes it look like u wanna be looked at as a sex object.
@@M.A.Y.Y If she would have worded it differently then yes. I get where you are coming from . I thought the dress was fine. But her mamma is soooooo conservative, which I get and I think she was paying 4 it too. But still she could either leave without a dress, like she did, or compromise w/her mom in the middle and find something that will work for the both of them. There's a difference in saying you want to feel sexy and saying you want "sex kitten" - like girl, get married in your bedroom with no one else if that's what you want. You want your fiance to want to "rip" the dress off of you during the ceremony??? wtf????!!!!!!!
Poor mom. She was stressed the whole time but I appreciated that she was fairly reserved about her input.
All the comments from the mom are why I bought my own gown.
It's okay to have an opinion, but Mom had her wedding day.
I feel if her daughter would have stop saying “Sex Kitten” maybe her mother would been on board. To me the daughter just kind of throw that in her moms face
100% agree
Definitely she was trying to antagonize her mom. She even ganged up on her with her friends to make her mom back down….
Most diplomatic, gentle mom ever!
budget: 3k
them: puts her in a dress over the budget
me: the math isnt mathing 🤨
She said it was on sale for only $899 so still within their budget.
@@artsyhyd i was talking about the first dress :)
@@Lux-hj4yp ahh ic 😁
All the dresses they put her in were budget busting.
I believe the bride gave her budget number and then immediately said she could push it for the right dress. .
They were so respectful of each other. I wish all disagreements went like this
omg! i went to college with her! congratulations stephanie! hope you found the perfect dress and had a lovely wedding day.
Say yes to the dress Atlanta always respects budget but not kleinfeld
That dress was almost TWICE her budget, and they’re not even telling them the price.
I do not like what Kleinfeld is turning into.
It’s not Kleinfeld is the consultants who don’t respect the brides budgets
This is a very old eposode
This bride is just trying to windup the mother by saying comments like “I want him to rip this off me” etc.
just disrespectful, and once again the consultant pulls dresses so much more than the budget 🤦♀️
I agree with you and I said something similar. I think the bride needs to grow up. Her mother was not disrespectful to her daughter. Even when her mother said try on a few more, she said we come back, mom said ok.
@@robyndeddens6658 yep exactly!
She did ask about a shrug. The consultant should have had suggestions along those lines.
@@pazza4555 I don't think the consultant was listening to the Mother. Someone call Randy lol...
There was no church ceremony
Why does Katie looks like Roxane from Megamind lmao
that's a good observation. I like that observation
I kept thinking who is she reminding me of, I was thinking Winona Ryder with short hair
She looks like Isabella Rossellini. So beautiful.
It's always a beautiful thing to watch when a bride shops for her dress!
Now why was she put in dresses over budget😭
thats what im tryna figure out 💀
I love how open and considerate they are of each other.
She got married in 2013 so this clip is pretty old.
I hope the bride gets what she wants. But why was every dress way over her budget? Surely, they have stuff she likes within her price point.
Exactly. That mermaid dress that the bride absolutely loved was $5,300!
That was $2,300 ABOVE her budget of $3,000.
I'm pretty sure the bride also said that if she really liked a dress, she would pay the added cost on top of the 3K.
I can't believe she just asked why can't sacred be sexy. Ugh! I feel for this poor mom.
Blue trim dress was weird. I'd rather see her in a soft teal, soft pink, soft peach - where you aren't really the color - more an illusion of color.
It looked like someone dunked it into a vat of dye. Katie could have shown her ivory, blush or champagne gowns and she would've had her pop of color and still been traditional enough to satisfy her mother.
the style would look better on someone shorter or with a shorter torso. but the blue just weird and out of place.
Tasteful is the word when shopping for a wedding dress.
There was nothing wrong with the mermaid. Her attitude was what made her mom feel it was a hoochie dress.
I absolutely love how respectful and loving the bride and her Mom were toward one another. Praying this was/is a really happy occasion and that the bride finds exactly The Dress.
The bride and her mother are só respectful of each other's opinions! 💕💕💕💕
Mother's need to understand that it isn't THEIR wedding and let their daughter's have the dress they feel is right for them.
i can only imagine what it would be like to have your parents/family members pay for your wedding dress..
Why not add an overskirt when the shape is what bothers mom? Overskirt for the ceremony, take it off for the party, ezpz!
I think the problem with that is this dress is already way over her budget. An over skirt is probably another grand or two.
@@jscho8674 i read somewhere in the comments that the dress was on sale?
Honestly with the headpiece, I felt that 3rd dress was so perfect, but I get that feathers are not for everyone lol Also the way she was selling the dresses to her mom was so extreme, like no wonder mom was uncomfy despite none of those dresses being overly revealing
Consultant is so cute
I love the ruffled "cupcake" dress. I think she looks beautiful in it. I don't think, however, that she should be throwing the phrase "sex kitten" around so freely. it's just not how a bride should look on the most important day of her life. but maybe I'm just old fashioned.
I agree with mom. Only the groom needs to see his future bride playing “sex kitten”
The mermaid is beautiful. She should go with what she loves
I've gotta agree, feathers don't really belong on wedding dresses.
I don't think the words 'sex', and 'kitten', should ever be said together. That's disgusting.
Been watching Say Yes to the Dress for a while and it is the first time I see this consultant.
“Sex kitten” on your wedding day is tacky 😒
The bride was talking about the $ 3,000 budget and the consultant put her in a dress for over $ 4,000. 🤦♀️
these mothers need to remember that this will mpst likely be the most elaborate, expensive dress she will ever wear, unless she has more than one formal wedding. SHE needs to feel that she looks her very best, on her most important day of her life. The most important word is HER day, not mothers day.
wait th proposing thing is so cut 😭
At least Mom is willing to compromise. Shouldn't be any compromise, should just be "your my daughter, you look beautiful in anything, pick what you want", but. Since it is so important to her daughter, it's nice that there's a compromise available and a willingness to come back if she wants to.
Repeat after me. It's your daughter's day. It's your daughter day. Its your daughter's. Stop living vicariously through them. Stop emotionally blackmailing your daughter during one of the happiest times of her life.
Imagine being a grown adult and letting your parent’s opinion sway you. This show captures strict family dynamics so clearly.
She is just respecting her MOTHERS opinion. Why is that so bad? I respect my mother too and I would feel uncomfortable too if I was getting married in a dress that my mother a) pays for and b) doesn't like too much. If you think this is strict then idk... I would rather call it respecting my parents. But hey, I'm African and we value our parents.
ytf ud anyone want to look like a sex kitten for the wedding... save that for the wedding night 😂
YES!! I felt that too about the consultant not really caring.
Just GREED.
That dress with feather detailing 😍 she looked like a goddess 😍😍
Absolutely couldn’t stand that merchandising manager! She came across as phoney as well as pushy.
Why does she keep referring to a “sex kitten” for a wedding dress. 😖
That sounds like something one would say for their honeymoon attire.
"I think the mermaid is more me"
Mom: swallows hard!
Man! that bride is absolutely gorgeous!
That mermaid dress and headpiece are breathtaking on her!! Maybe a tiny shrug for just the ceremony will make Mama happy.
3k is absolutely not a bad budget... But still they couldn't put the bride in a single dress in her budget🙄... Typical Klienfield! She could have gotten so many options in that budget n style
Actually, they almost always stay within budget. If they don't, i is because the bride specifically chooses the dress.
the birds dress was the best
Katie, this wedding consultant lady, is very chic and so beautiful as a Hollywood star !
But she didn't respect the bride's budget. Got me annoyed
I like that Mom did not say no, instead she asked that her daughter try a few more before finalizing her decision. I think mom wants to make sure her daughter isn’t rushing into something she might regret later, looking back at the photos. It never hurts to take a little time to be certain of your choices.
Sometimes Mom’s need to remember it’s their daughter ‘s wedding not theirs.
@Mega Lenny I disagree. I have 2 daughters and even though I paid for their dresses I believe it was still their choice for their wedding days.

I think that the mermaid dress was the best choice for her but it’s better to be sure!
2300 over Budget????? How insensitive
They should’ve let the mom pick a dress for the bride to try on, just so mom could see how unhappy the bride would be in anything other than what she wanted - which was the gorgeous mermaid dress that she tried on twice. Wish we knew what the bride eventually chose.
"The gorgeous mermaid" (which it isn't) cost almost twice the mother's budget, so no, the young woman should most certainly NOT get that one!
The bride is something else! Sex kitten? Really.
It’s better to tell them half of your actual budget because they will ALWAYS put you in something that is twice as much as your budget.
Hmmm. The bride is aware that this is a sacred rite of the church I would hope. Looking like a “sex kitten” should not be her goal during a religious service. I’m with Mom on this one.
Hearing a bride say she wants to look like a "sex kitten" on her wedding day just is wrong on so many levels.
Her mother is so sweet
I like her turtle pin.
When the consultant walked in I thought she was a movie star model, she's gorgeous!
I jst wish people could jst let go of what THEY want and just support the bride!! It what the bride wants! The bride is wearing the dress, not mamma. There is nothing scandalous about that dress! She looks beautiful!
i dont think there was anything scandalous about the dress
a lot of people love and rock mermaid dresses.
i do feel like it was off putting the perspective she was putting it out there
as a 'sex kitten'
I understand wanting to look sexy on ur wedding day, I certainly do as well
but how she is putting it over makes I sound kinda pornographic and over-sexualized.
i bet if she said that she wanted something fitted because she got great curves and wanna show off her body her mom would've been open to it more but the whole 'sex kitten' part is offputting.
it doesn't make it feel like u wanna look sexy and beautiful on ur wedding day it kinda makes it look like u wanna be looked at as a sex object.
Or SHE could jst buy what she wants, she's grown she can do that, and surprise everyone on her wedding day with the dress of HER choice. It's jst one day, they will get over and be ok. If not then they can seek therapy lol 4real tho! People need to work thru what they are going thru and put it to the side its not about them. It's about the bride.
off topic but the girl with the pixie cut is stunning
Only the bride should be loving the dress. It’s her wedding and she has to feel beautiful and comfortable in her dress.
