As a general guide this video is good. Watch other makes & models to increase general knowledge - every DIY has it's PROs & CONs. That's why I watched this video. Note: Always give yourself double the time suggested & ALWAYS have manufactory's MANUAL on hand. Again good video.
Fantastic job thanks , oh yeah it's not a screw driver it's a pry bar..and what's the reason for removing the serpentine belt .? It will turn with the crankshaft..unless there is a purpose I don't know , please let us know..
@@jameserschen1469 Are the valves making any noise? Normally it will be a fast "ticking" noise sometimes louder when the engine is cold and often getting quieter as it warms up. If the engine is running well and not making any unusual noise, you should be ok. There is a lot of info going both ways about this, but if you want to be safe just look at the maintenance schedule in your vehicles owners manual. Look back all the way to 30k miles or so and see if a valve inspection or adjustment is listed up until the milage you currently have. 👍
Usually by the time you have 100k miles you start noticing that your engine sounds louder and makes clicking or clacking noises because there is too much play in the valves. If you have over 100k miles this will help your engine run better and more efficient. The valves control the amount of power your engine produces so if they start loosening up you start to notice loss of power in the car ever so slightly. But the only way to truly know is to take things apart and get in there with the feeler gauges like it was done in this video. This is not required maintenance so unless you have an engine light on this is optional for a smoother running engine. A mechanic should be able to do this for under $200 if you don't want to do it yourself.
I just need a valve adjustment manual honda accord is same with honda crv. I just want to know the rotation of the engine from 1st to 4th cylinder. I only see the 1st one in your video. Thanks
Hi I need help how to get a copy of the service manual. Its accurate rather than bringing your car into a shop. I would appreciate your help, thank you
You explained the importance of allignment of the cams, and adjusting valves in the correct order, then you stopped the video after cylinder 3? It goes 1-3-2-4 then. If you move from 3 to 4 or 3 to 2 there is a difference. What is the correct valve adjustement after 3?!
@@jameserschen1469 it's the same for Pzev. Valve adjustment is very straightforward. The best way to do it is tighten the adjuster with the feeler gauge in place until it stops. Then back it off a little and move the feeler gauge. As long as it moves and you feel drag on the gauge, you're good to go. I learned to do this on type 1 VW engines. At least with Hondas you stand up. On VWs you had to jack the rear of the car up and do this while lying on your back.
did yours make a rattle / clicking sound ? I have the same car & year as you V6, and it’s clicking at 104k miles I just got it from dealer. have you done the adjustments ? Has it fixed the clicking if you have noticed any ?
@@Itsme83. ok thank you for writing me back 🙏🏼, I’m hoping it’s a simple issue like yours I’ll be ashamed if I have to get major work done on my first car. it rattles and even when I drive around for 5 miles and come back I’ll let it idle and it still rattle . not as loud but still obviously noticeable. car isn’t overheating. white smoke smells fine . has power on the pedal but maybe it could use a bit more ? Maybe that’s why I’m worried it might need valve adjustment which I know is recommended at 100k miles. will check both tho thank you again

Yeah but i need the right turning of the engine before putting the feeler gauge. Is it ok to have a copy of your manual for valve adjustment. I would really appreciate that
No mention of last two cylinders!!! No clear mention on how to loosen the 10 mm lock down nut you just show it was already loose. I have no idea how to loosen it or if it's safe to loosen with socket while not holding set screw? AVOID THIS VIDEO. You will get stuck after doing alot of work... after getting to top dead center on number 1 this is all a mystery.

u don't need to remove the belt. That's just extra work. just use a socket and extension on the crank bolt.
I saw that.
Hey man thanks for taking the time to do Honda DIY videos really appreciate it.
Very helpful video, what’s the easiest way to get to the intake side?
Great job sir!! What Manuel was you using? Thank you!!💯👍
Filler gauge because it fills the gap. Thank brother. My old boss a master tech, said this car didn’t need it. 🤦♂️
It's called a "feeler" gauge.
Hi you didn't show the 3rd and 4th cylinder. What degrees you rotate it? Thanks
Yod did a good Job! this is very helpful to me :)
I didn't realize these k24's had such simple valves, I was dreading having to deal with shims.
Spencer Hudzenko Every single Honda uses rocker arms, all solid lash. No bucket nonsense.
I have 123,000 on my k24 wonder if I need a valve adjustment.

How do you know it is a time to change pcv valve? Is there any note to know it before I change it ?
Fel Pro gaskets say not to use silicone when using their gaskets ? Is this true or would it still need it ?
Could unadjusted Valves make your Accord misfire? I have a misfire in valve #3.
Start with removing and checking the spark plug.I bought fake NGK plugs on eBay and after 30K, they were trashed. I also got misfire codes.
Why and how do you know you need to do this? Also, how often you need to do this?

It is almost impossible to adjust intake valve, which hasn't been showed, without special tool.
Thats what i was waiting for too.

how to I get a guide book???
My car is 2003 Honda accord ex 2.4L, is it necessary to remove the belt ?
No you do NOT need to remove the belt. This is an unnecessary step.
+BundysGarage does that apply to 2010? i dont think i have to remove th e beltn do i?

+neiskyle3 You adjust each valve to the specified gap, there is no way to determine the adjustment by degrees. You need a valve feeler gauge.
