I love Kelly is milling lumber with you! My husband always laughed at me for not knowing all those "man hand signals" of backing and turning. I wasn't much help but I liked nothing more than "helping" him with projects. I was always ready for a break before he was. Your sons are learning so much! God Bless You from NE Ohio.
I personally like background music, unless there’s talking or explanation. When I edit my videos I try to just show a clip of a few seconds of whatever machine I’m running such as a saw or log splitter or something, but good of you to ask. Wish I can get a mill of my own someday. See ya on the next one.
You've inspired me to start my own RUclips channel dedicated to historic restoration. When I run my mill, I'll generally do a few passes with the mill sound, then switch over to background music. Actually my favorite is background music, with just a bit of mill sound mixed in.
TROY, gotta love it when your wife ain't afraid to run equipment! (just remember!!... she may teach you to read recipes, cook, n' run the 'washer') . LOL! Good stuff !
Kelly is more than just a Sweetheart, Great Worker, Deluxe Mom, and Patience of Job wife she is a RUclips Star. Nice Job Kelly who operates with a lovely pace and seemingly always in control. Very Nice video from a long time subscriber in northern Idaho.
Also seeing your boy operating the tractor is good training for when he drives on roadways. Best part of growing up is parents who have the know how to teach their children.
I enjoyed watching Kelly run the tractor and the sawmill, and later one son on the tractor, and I know the other one was running camera. So nice to see a family working together! You can add music if you want to, but I like hearing the sounds of the tractor and sawmill, and you yelling instructions to Kelly. :-)
Slow mo at 6:30 was awesome. It was either the Titanic boilers or a WWII German Submarine traveling on the surface of the ocean. It could have been a sawmill in West Virginia.
Definitely like hearing the mill and the tractor. Music is ok for when you are doing things like driving the side by side but love the sound of the mill and tractor when they are being used.
I've been buying cull lumber bundles from a local saw mill. Some are great some are awful lol. But an average of 1000 bd ft for $100. Very budget friendly for my little homestead 😀
As much as I love music, I appreciate being able to get a real feel for what its like to hear the mill run, sounds of the saw blade passing through the log, thank you for that. I'm waiting on the arrival of my new LM29V2 right now in Newfoundland, Canada. Keep up the great work, way to go Kelly! Looking forward to more videos, you never know, I may post something later this winter or spring once I get it assembled.
I appreciate the video very much! Just started my own channel, so I know what goes into making these. Very easy to be critical of them from the outside especially if you haven't done one yourself! 👍
Love the channel! I hope to buy some land like you someday. My father had an 80 acre ranch 40 years back. Long gone now in Sutter Creek/Jackson, CA. Just love the insights on trees, sawmills and farming life. Keep up the great vids! I envy you buddy!!!
The sound of money (sawmill) is music to my ears. Was there any background music playing while they were removing your organs to pay for that store bought lumber?
Absolutely better without music. I got music lol I like to hear the mill motor pulling lol oh and no fast forward just edit skip.. like you did this video. Perfecto
Popular will warp if it gets wet. I know. My house is pretty much built out of it. Shinks as it drys out and starts bowing. Good for a boat build. I would recommend getting it under a shed to dry.
I’d prefer to hear what you’re doing, regardless what you’re doing. Would it ever be cost effective to put in a lumber dryer? Thank you! PS. SLO-mo very cool!
I have a suggestion that you may or may not like but here you go anyway lol. Could you lay 2 logs across the creek branch kinda like a bridge to stack other logs on until you can mill them. Then they would dry all the way around

No music for me. Thanks for asking though. The CC is what I need as I am slightly deaf and you do that on most of your videos for which I thank you for as you cant lip read when your back is to the camera

In my area I can use any lumber to build a house… I have 50 acres and a Hudson 330… going to cut out wood for a 1900 square foot. My question is, have you ever cut big box dimensions? Like 1 1/2x31/2 for a 2x4?
Do you have a video of you sharpening the blades? I assume you have to do that quite frequently with this. I just started watching your channel recently and enjoy your upbeat character. Nice folks
Wish I could use rough uncertified lumber. When I built my home around 11 yrs ago now the code enforcement officer told me this... that in pennsylvania I could not use rough uncertified lumber for anything structural. I couldn't even build shed or a dog house with it. We didn't discuss if it was to code to use it for siding or shingles. Pennsylvania is not very homestead friendly.
I bought a LM29 I have assembled it, but the engine is still on back order. If you would like a hand milling, I’d be happy to help you while picking up some tips and tricks
@@RedToolHouse back in November, they said mid December. I ordered the mill on October 2nd, and didn’t get it till December 15, but no engine, trailer tongue, or saw guards. They’ve since sent the guards last week.
Do you have a video or could you do a video on your sawmill and if you were to buy it again what option you would get or not get based on knowing now that you didn't know then. Thanks!
New subscriber here and I am enjoying your channel. It was so much cheaper back then and now its ridiculous. Only the well off are buying big parcels of land these days. Ok I wrote another novel .sorry LOL . Be safe warm and healthy folks 8
There are no regulations for running and producing lumber from a hobby mill. I could sell lumber if I wanted. Once you reach a certain amount of board feet annually then there could be timber regulations.
I like the sounds of the mill and tractor better than the music

Accordion music or bagpipes would add a nice ambience.
