Beautiful, a repair that a working stiff doesn't have to take out a second mortgage to pay for, the classic half-sole and heel-cap, the cobbler's bread & butter!
I've seen the gentleman's notch before, but never knew what it was for. It was worth watching the video just to learn that. But of course the rest of the video was cool too. Thumbs up!
Love the camera angles Mark. Never knew that about that about the gentlemens heel notch. Lovely finished job, that stitching looked tricky - great skill CG.
Yes G! Thanks so much for fixing my shoes and getting them looking sharp again. Nice work on the elastics 👌. As someone else said above, if you want your shoes repaired correctly, send 'em to Cobbler G! Cheers, Ali
RUclips needs to up your algorithm . Compared to Bedos, You are right up their. Great videos, the shot choice, music (Like a smooth shot of relaxation) and craftsmanship. Thank You for the hard work on putting YOUR videos on RUclips.
Aw thankyou mate that's nice to hear! Il keep pounding these videos out in the hopes that someday il get picked up and shown to the masses. Until then, I appreciate you taking the time to watch, like and comment. G
Excellent work, Mark. I had a half sole repair similar to what was done here and the work was done by a local shoe repair chain. I did a half repair with the idea I was going to save money. I wore the shoes for a while but the repair was falling apart. The result is I found a guy who does excellent work and he replaced the half sole with a full sole repair and did an excellent job. Irony is it didn't cost much more than than the half sole repair. For the total money spent, that cost a lot to save a little. Lesson learned.
shoe repair chain... we know who they are.. fubar'd my fave boots :( a little excessive on the sander when replacing heals.. so made a resole a little difficult
Fantastic work! Maybe a quick rundown of the issues at the beginning to help us non-cobblers. I was distracted and only listening, so you may have done it. In that case my apologies!
Good Morning, lovely repair work, I contacted you before about repairing my brown Church's Chelsea Boots with a commando sole, they have creases in them and the elastic sides are a tad worn. The creases look fine after a polish with Saphir but it soon dries out can you help me? I would love to see a video of you repairing them. I live near Dundee so I would have to post them to you - thanks
But this isn't a half sole it's just a layer over a sanded leather sole. Half sole means that you rip the weld, cut off the sole about 3 cm before the heel, put a leather half sole, and sew around again. I have added this rubber sole to each of my shoes and never have to replace the leather sole again. But yes, if I'm repairing shoes I prefer full sole to half sole. It's also a question of money.
@@koblih69indeed...I've had this topy type covering added to half of my shoe collection. The rubber used is incredibly hard wearing and easily replaced. My intention is to have the factory soles intact indefinitely 😊

Another great job mate, I never knew about the gentlemen's notch! All the best, keep up the great work.
Yeah quite a cool story behind it.

Apart of the awesome work on the shoe, the video production is amazing. Lots of close up shots, so you can really see what is going on!
Thankyou mate I really appreciate that! I film and edit all using my phone, so I'm glad you like it! Next one drops Sunday! G

More of your voice and none of the music, please. It is annoying. Good video.
If your shop is shut where are you going to move too ?
I've moved to a new location now in Rose Street Edinburgh
Quick question, I have heard that half soles are not as effective as full soles,is that true?
