what a great comparison right off the bat, including the hero 11 is really important because obviously there are tradeoffs for the smaller size OR bigger size... this video really makes it clear how the various cameras would fit in my life in a way that other videos don't. thanks again.
Will upgrade from Go2 to Go3 when they add a USB power mount for the stand alone cam for continuous power (biking. car cam etc). Edit to add: Can we now record in say Linear/flow state and export files direct to use without going thru time consuming 360 Studio first?
+10 points to Insta for the absolutely awesome app which is available not only for my PC but also iOS and Android and works flawlessly on any of my devices. While the hardware is certainly the enabler, the app is at least just as important, and in this regard GoPro lost it by far.
The stabilization of gopro is running on the camera, compared with the insta360 running on the mobile, which may cost more computing power for gopro, that's why the gopro heating issue is worse and recording time is limited. But at the same time, the gopro videos stored on the SD card is alredy stabilized and can be used easily without porting out through the App
Hi Verna. Thx for sharing your expertise. Your analyze is pretty complete and will help many people to decide what to purchase.😉 The GO3 does bring some features some will appreciate for sure. Personally I am a Gopro 11 and Insta360 X3 owner and happy with those cam's. 😉
There needs to be a comparison with the DJI action 2. That is more of a similar comparison as it attaches magnetically n has a modular screen attachment. It records 4k but Please compare it as I would like to see it’s comparison use cases.
My main gripe with the GO3 is its cost. Despite owning and enjoying it, the $400 price tag feels steep for the video quality it delivers, which isn't as crisp compared to traditional action cameras. Although it lacks direct competitors, which might justify its price, it still feels like a hard expense to justify from a consumer standpoint. However, its compact size offers unmatched portability and creative possibilities. An improvement I'd love to see is a replaceable battery and a micro SD card slot, as its 30-45 minute recording time falls short for many activities. It's better suited for capturing brief, memorable moments rather than extended events like skiing, snowboarding, or group outings.
This was a great review! I film on my e-bike, so it was go to see how the 3 worked from a cyclist’s perspective. I film with a GoPro11 on my channel, but I want to buy the 3 as soon as possible! The bike pack version is $600 tho, not cheap
I don't see the flip-up screen of the Go3 being a big advantage over the GoPro's rear screen and fixed front-facing screen. If you are vlogging with a GoPro, you can just turn the camera around whenever you like and have the camera facing you or facing away from you, and there is always a screen visible. But with the Go3, you have to stop and flip the screen up every time you turn the camera around. For that reason, I prefer the fixed front-facing screen of the GoPro. I also FAR prefer the GoPro's use of removable microSD cards. I can see multiple problems with having to transfer video files to your smartphone wirelessly with the Go3. It's much faster and simpler and better to just remove the microSD card from the GoPro and pop in a fresh empty one. Then you can attach the microSD card to your laptop with a card reader and copy the video files quickly without having to use up battery power and wait a long time as the Go3 transfers wirelessly. Plus, you can keep the original files on the microSD card as a backup. I also find the regular comparison of overheating in action cameras to be not very useful. You gave the point to the Go3 because your GoPro overheated and shut down after 40 minutes in your test. Realistically, though, who runs any action camera for 40 minutes straight? I'd say virtually no one. I record long segments of video, but even I never run an action camera for 40 minutes in one go. In the real world, your action camera only has to run for a few minutes at a time. Even 20 minutes is an extremely long time. And the GoPro handles that just fine. Far more important is the ability to swap out the battery on the GoPro and insert a fresh one. And in your comparison, you didn't really include the biggest advantage of the Go3. And that is the ability to stick the camera anywhere. It's so small and light that you can stick it on your baseball cap, on your cat's or dog's collar, inside a coffee cup, inside any really small space, on an RC car. You can get all kinds of crazy and unusual shots with the Go3. And these would be nearly impossible to do with the heavier and larger GoPro. For me, the entire point of the Go3 is this ability to put it in unusual places and film in unusual ways. If that's what you want to do with your camera, then the Go3 is clearly the best choice. In all other categories, I think the GoPro is the superior camera. It really depends on what you are going to use your camera for.
Been a GoPro user since Hero 4 then switched entirely to Insta. I have to say GoPro has no match with the software prowess of the Insta. GoPro if not frequent, it always fails mid shooting. It just malfunctions for no reason at all which makes you miss critical moments. That is why I began to dislike them so much. Wont go back to GoPro anymore. Cheers
On the subject of 40 min recording and overheating: I would like to use the GO as a dashcam on my motorcycle. Unfortunately, the GO2 does not do this because of the overheating and the limited recording time. It would still be desirable for me if insta would also release a PowerMount for the GO3 as a discreet attachment.... and while we're at it: A Black Edition would be casual 😀
Interesting points! The insta360 GO 3 definitely wins when it comes to size but when it comes to image quality the GoPro 11 is far superior. Also there are tricks to improve it even more if someone is an advanced user, GoPro Labs firmware is awesome. The jitters at low light can also easily be fixed with the right settings. And allow me to disagree about the ruggedness. My GoPro 10 fell from over 15meters, down the side of a waterfall, it tumbled down rocks, i was horrified to watch it fall, it was absolutely brutal. When i went down and got it, it had a tiny dent on the side of the lens cover but not a single scratch on the glass...Lens and screen were totally intact... I'm sure the GO 3 wouldn't survive that fall... Would actually love to see someone test that 😅
@@NickDelDuca that was a fun video to watch 👍 But I meant the whole thing, the GO 3 attached to the action pod, I would guess many people are gonna use it that way now and my guess is that the hinged screen would be the first thing to break off.

Hi , I want something for taking photos, which one do you recommend ? And how good they takes photo comparing to smarts phone's like iphone 14pro or something like that
For photos I would recommend the GoPro because of the higher resolution - the iPhone 14 Pro will be the better choice for most people for taking photos - especially because it has four different focal lengths
A big disadvantage with all GoPro cameras since Hero 11 and onwards is that you cannot get a live view on a smartphone or surfpad when recording. I saw that live view is possible on the Actionpod when the camera is used separately but can it also seen on a Smartphone? And can the camera in the actionpod get it´s power remotely and do you know the maximum recording time for 2,7 k with the 64 GB version?
Live view works when recording using the Action Pod & the Smartphone App - but not at the same time. Maximum recording time in 2.7K with 64GB is about 2h50m
It's lighter, which is more comfortable on the helmet - also cool is that you can check framing with the Action Pod and use the Action Pod like a remote - it's much easier and faster than with the smartphone. However, the Hero11 delivers better image quality - so it all depends on what is more important to you...
Nice review but are you seriously giving extra points for the Go3 "durability"? Let's see it survive a drop test during regular usage. The lens sticks out. Try dropping it with the screen flipped up. Try a scratch test on the lens and back screen..
@@MountMediaChannel Sorry last question as I have a Go2 now. The 50% more battery life is that at the highest resolution or at the same resolution as the Go2?
