The Peak doesn't get nearly as much attention from me as I think it deserves so I wanted to make a video showcasing 5 of my favourite pad patches that I've made with it so far!
All of these patches are now available as part of a Peak/Summit patch pack I've made - you can check it out here! gum.co/PeakPatches
That FM delay sound is gorgeous
I love it! It can be used in so many different song styles too!
The Peak... a keeper.
Veeeery nice.
Fantastic sound bro!
Great thanks for sharing. Time to buy one of these :)
Great work, I would love to see a video of your approach into sound design on the Peak!
Thank you!! I'm hoping to do more "patch from scratch" style videos soon
Lost Clouds that sounds great! I’ll be waiting for that notification soon I guess! Cheers
Those are some of the best pads I've heard for the peak. Any chance you can share them?
SUPER late reply but I've just put out a patch pack for the Peak - if you're interested here's the link :) gum.co/PeakPatches and thank you for the kind words!!
@@tomgreenmusic Hello. i am trying to buy your patches but it wont allow me. What to do?
Awesome pads!
Is this pure Peak, or did you run any external effects?
Thank you :) This was pure Peak, I don't think I even had any EQ on! There might have been some volume normalisation when putting the video together but that's it.
sounds lovely! always thought the peak could only sound a bit digital but it can sound very warm :) how do you compare it with the prophet rev 2? padwise?
Great, awesome patches! Do you sell them? Thanks
Thanks :) I'm hoping to put together a Peak patch pack at some point so keep your eyes out for that!!
@@tomgreenmusic I hope it too my friend ;) let me know, thanks!
@@tomgreenmusic I'll definitely stay tuned for that to happen. Thanks, these pad are making me choose peak as a first synthesizer.
@@Jerryxme You're in luck! I've just finished recording the video/audio for the patch bank so I just need to put everything together and hopefully it'll be ready to go in a couple of weeks :)
@@tomgreenmusic Wow great! That's the perfect timing for me to actually get the PEAK and learn a bit before. It's just since 2 weeks I interest myself in synthesis (wanting to mix it with handpans and just explore :-) ) and I am repeatedly in the good timing since then. I love these synchronicities! I wish you a great day!
the melody at 3:53 is peculiar, I like it, is it from a song that already exists or is it spontaneous improv?
Just some spontaneous improvisation :)
How do you like the Rev2 vs the peak? Trying to decide on a synth is so difficult. Moog Matriarch, Novation Summit, Prophet Rev2-16, and others. Right now I have a Yamaha Montage 8, but I want to expand into some analog stuff. But all of them have their strong points, and it's just hard to pick one.
They are both really great, but I find myself reaching for the Rev2 with almost everything I make and only sometimes going for the Peak. The immediacy of having a keyboard might be part of the reason so the Summit could help there, but also there's just something I really really love about the Rev2 and it's brassy filter - it's a lot brighter (but in a good way usually!) and less smudgy than the Peak filter.
Buuuut the Peak has a fair few extra features - frequency modulation between oscillators, extra filter types, a full third oscillator rather than just a sub oscillator, a much better arpeggiator (but no sequencer, not sure if the Summit has one?), more featured oscillators with wavetables (though imo they sound a little more digital and 'clinical' raw compared to the Rev2) and although it has less effects the Reverb is SO much nicer, especially for big pads or general ambient/cinematic sorta sounds. I will also add that I find the Peak makes better lead and bass sounds but that may just be because I haven't tried so hard with the Rev2. The Rev2 does let you split and stack patches too - can't remember if the Summit does?
I know this probably hasn't helped much, so I guess what I'm trying to say is that it depends a lot on the features you're looking for haha! The Matriarch sounds beautiful (as with all Moogs!) but given its paraphonic and limited to 4 voices I'd definitely only get it as more of an experimental/fun synth rather than something I'd find really useful on every track.
Do you like the peak or rev2 better
ooh I love that full & warm patch! is it going to be included in your upcoming pack?
It is indeed! I believe all 5 patches in this video are included
@@tomgreenmusic great when is it comng out :)
