If I had to guess, that was the old railroad bridge and the new one that replaced it was too the right. Looks like they just removed the track and put down some additional railroad ties. That was very cool and thank you for taking us along on something I will probably never do myself.
I've driven over wooden bridges and they're well capable of supporting many cars..even locomotives. But the absence of guard rails on this bridge would freak me out because I get automatically drawn to precipices, cliff edges etc. Gives me the chills
The only bridge across the river is a thousand kilometers around. The one on the right is railroad. The bridge is located in Siberia, the Trans-Baikal Territory, the Kalarsky District, the Vitim River.
I don't see why its so dangerous. It is obviously... but if you watch your left edge and keep your wheel about a foot from the edge you can make it across. Scary yes, but not much different than driving through city traffic. Although that bump in the middle looks like it could be a little nerve wracking. Gotta put this one on my bucket list. :)
Here's my thought: It used to be a railway bridge, yes? Well, a train weighs an order of magnitude more than an SUV, maybe several orders. Thus even if it is old and no longer maintained, it should still easily be able to hold the weight of an SUV which, as this video shows, it does.
Previously, it was a railway bridge, then they built the one on the left, and now the trains go there. And this one was simply dropped. Local residents and travelers travel by this bridge, others around a thousand kilometers away.
It was a railway bridge, yes. At 3:07 you see old rails to your right. The new bridge looks like it's for trains only, otherwise this bridge wouldn't be used by cars. The road after the bridge doesn't look abandoned.
We've got lots of those here in Africa, not quite so long but with half the planks missing. Once when crossing the cross planks were so far appart I dropped one of my 35" tyres in. Fortunately I was moving and it popped right back out.
Eric Hawes from Eugene, Oregon, was the first person to ride a motorcycle (wife his wife!) from east to west across Siberia and Russia in the early 90s. His video may have included this bridge (it was a long time ago and my memory is foggy). I know he crossed bridges that were not as good as this and even crossed one 'perfectly fine' railroad bridge only to have a train come along seconds after he crossed. He is in the Guiness Book of Records for his trip.
I really hate when I am watching an interesting video, and all these links pop up on the screen to other videos, and are placed where they can't be closed easily, therefore blocking the video i wanted to watch to begin with. Considering unsubscribing.
I'm sure you'd be happy to give us some examples of these train bridges in America that you speak of that are as bad as this one. I look forward to reading about them when you come up with some.
I didn't ask for that from you. I asked you to supply them so you could prove to me that you're not lying, which I know you are. So go ahead and prove to me that you're not a lying fraud and give me some examples of railroad bridges in the U.S. that are in as bad a shape as the one on the video. I'm waiting.
People are saying this looks scary and they wouldn't even walk it? wtf? really? I'd totally drive on there. And why wouldn't you walk on it? If you've ever walked on a pier or something how is it different? I'd only be scared to drive on it if my arms had spasms lol.
Chris Z Then how has the city of Venice existed for thousands of years being half underwater? But you're right, it won't last forever. But what does? Not much.
Christel Vinot Wood underwater does NOT rot. Wood needs exposure to oxygen in order to rot. In fact, due to the minerals in the water wood tends to harden underwater. Also, venice is an active city that is constantly maintained. This bridge is not, as there has been a new railway bridge built on the right (as you can see) and this bridge is no longer maintained or tested by whoever owns or owned it. It is also not even designed for cars. I know a lot about wood preservation as I am a telecom engineer who has to climb wooden telegraph polls for a living and I have to be very careful with what kind of poles I can climb (do tests on the wood first) as a lot of them can rot away very quickly once the creosote runs thin. I think it would be incredibly stupid to cross this wooden bridge unless it has been tested by experts within the last few months.
Pff you fall down and you get wet. People get wet all the time, nothing dangerous about that. Unless you cant swim i guess. But if you can't swim something is seriously wrong with you and you probably shouldn't be driving a car in the first place. Even baby pigs can swim when they are like week old. LEARN TO SWIM!
From the view from the video-I think I would take my chances with the active train bridge... Alot of that just looked too rotted.... One of those do you go fast-in case it fails, or go slow to keep it from failing....?
That was an old railroad bridge, when the person driving their vehicle over that bridge to the other side, there were remanents of an old railroad line that was replaced by the newer steel railroad bridge just off to the right.
This is a temporary railway bridge and the locals used it for cars. One was abandoned when the permanent bridge was built. Now it has already been destroyed.
Hey, I got a grand idea! See that antiquated improperly maintained out of use railway bridge (old tracks and ties seen near the end)? let's take a drive across it.
"That ain't a bridge. It's termites holdin' hands."

No, on the right is the Trans Siberian Railway Baikal - Amur Mainline section, the bridge is part of the BAM road.

hey i subscribed to you i make train videos too
Alan why are you here? XD
I think he's here because this used to be a railway bridge.
Edit: definitely a railway bridge.
You know, there is a perfectly fine bridge to your right.
It's for trains
I know right xD of course using the hard way
It's for a gps so they have to
my dad would take me on that one instead of the pefectly fine bridge
It's too mainstream to go on bridges
1:53 was the most cringeworthy..
Its Russian, only thing that going to break it is dropping 3 more bridges on top of it.
And then some t80s
Thought similar. The real dangerous thing here is to not freak out and drive the car over the rim.

*Шо ты там пиздишь уже?*
Are you f_in kidding me? I wouldn't walk across that thing let alone drive something.
🤣🤣🤣
step 1: sell the car
step 2: crossing by foot
step 3: buy another car
:):)
That would have been a lot of walking from place to place
WinRAR its for trains smart guy
@@rjdatdude23, the other bridge is for trains and this one was formerly used for trains.

Let's hope you will not be the one to find out that the wooden planks have finally rotted to pieces. Someone will, one day.
actually looks pretty solid.
Hay que tener nervios de asero .para cruzar ese puente .saludos desde chile.muy lindo los paisajes

When my rig costs more than the bridge, that's where I draw the line.

You can tell by the safety platforms and the old rail footings at the end of the crossing.
Scary yes, but the worlds most dangerous - Hmm?
I've seen worse in Botswana, Mozambique, Kenya etc.
@@Volodimirus They cannot use a boat or some kind of ferry, raft to transport their car and themselves across the river though instead?

lol
+Lyric Lullaby that is railroad for trains
+Uday Rana (Atlas) So.. i'd rather try my luck on that
This is a railway bridge, there cars are not allowed. Local residents travel by this bridge.

Legend has it that the drivers steel balls are made from the same steel off the bridge!
Sure, I'd cross it. Also, this bridge is times safer then what people think. The boards are placed on top of a flat steel surface.

Because it looks old, and wood rots over time? Wood preservation methods only last x amount of time before it starts to rot away.
