Nice job editing. I especially want to praise the sound design during the second half; the aesthetic of "Ugly Ending" (synth-heavy with lyrics regarding self-reflection) suits the substance of "Inside" very well, and the (seeming) battle in volume between the song and audio from the special has me wondering if it's meant to represent how much stuff is on the internet and how it fights for attention. Thank you for sharing this. If I might return the favor, I made an edit using clips from Bo's show "Zach Stone is Gonna Be Famous" and his song "Goodbye" that I think you might like: ruclips.net/video/iyqYtC7saDM/видео.html
Thank you so much for your thoughtful comment! Yes, the second half is a bit overwhelming to mirror the short segments and quick cuts in the special -- very in line with our shortening attention spans. So glad you liked the music choice, I thought it was risky to include a non-Bo song in the trailer, but found that one to be such a good match.
0:57 for some reason hearing "Robert's been a little depressed" but in a whole different tone is amazing and i love it i don't know why but i love it. also inside is so good!! hopefully bo wins a grammy!!!
AGREED! And yes, he did win a Grammy ^^ But yeah, in all honesty it's a terrible award show that doesn't actually focus on talent. If so, he'd be winning more than just one
This is a bit surreal for me. This is exactly how I pictured an official trailer would be (right down to the muting of "Content" as Bo describes not putting a gun to his head before the final reel of clips). You, my friend, are amazing!
1:12 wrecked me, the little shaky breaths omg. I love how right after he says "making this special distracts me from wanting to put a bullet in my head", you show Bo desperately playing a piano solo like his life depends on it, because it does. So so good.
Hey thanks for watching, glad you liked it! It was edited with Sony Vegas Pro 17.0, I've used Vegas for years and always really liked their programs. Unfortunately I can't help with downloading the special itself.
@@ravenhpltc2469 Ah nice! I've always been a Premiere Pro person myself so it's so cool to hear about other editing softwares! Also, gotcha, gotcha. Keep up the good work! Can't wait to see more in the future!!
This is extremely well done, a round of applause to you for making this the most trailer like fan trailer I've ever seen, it really looks like a trailer that netflix would use and captivates what the special is about really well. Bravo, bravo!
Aaaand after watching it a few more times I love it even more! Sorry I'm about to write an essay here gushing about my favorite parts, you're so creative and I am truly in awe. Some things that I thought were absolutely brilliant: the use of the backing vocals to "Content" as Bo says the word "Comedy" at 0:31. The juxtaposition of "it's nice during these crazy times that we can laugh" with the imagery of Bo crying in the INSIDE game at 0:37. When he talks about working on the special for six months at 0:44 and you compare the visual of Bo near the end of the special to that of him at the beginning with short hair...that gave me chills. Something that also really stuck with me was the part right after that when he's just staring at his computer screen...you perfectly captured the numbness/despair of time passing and quarantine in those few seconds. It was amazing to hear Bo say "Get up...Get up..." very faintly in the background starting at 1:31 and you know that the "Get the FUCK up!" is coming...with that on top of all the other audio, it definitely adds to the idea of the "unquiet mind" (to reference the review you quoted in the trailer). Also I really really loved the text effects that you used, with the letters scrambling (not quite sure how to describe that). The "For a lifetime stuck Inside" was particularly meaningful for me, representing both the idea of being stuck inside (the room, your own mind) but also being stuck "Inside" - how this special will leave you thinking about it long after it's over. I also liked the framing effect of the Bo mirror scenes. And "An Outside Looking In Production" is so creative as well! Keep it up, you're amazing and this trailer absolutely made my day.
Wow, thank you so much for commenting! This was so lovely to read, I really appreciate you taking the time to call out the things you liked. So glad this trailer had such an effect on you, it was quite fun to put together and it makes me so happy others enjoy it too. :D
Oh... my.... GOD! The first time i saw it, i really, really, REALLY thought it was a REAL TRAILER! The editing is SO GOOD! IT LOOKS LIKE AN ORIGINAL TRAILER! And it really makes me curious about watching INSIDE! THANK YOU FOR MAKING THIS PUBLIC! That is B E A U T I F U L !
wow! it wasnt as much an actual trailer to get people in, more like an appreciation video, as it shouldve gotten one just before winning an award. going more into depth and celebrating the special for those who saw it but not giving away too much for the unknowing audience. i just think the special is better if you enter it unprepared of the drama and the mental decline, hence their decision to use welcome to the internet as the leading song, it doesnt give away of the drama, so when it happens it feels more authentic and real bc it gets you off guard. but AFTER watching it? for that it's a perfect video!
this was amazing, great editing and music choices! how d'you get the different stems? the Bezos 1 room noise / content instrumental etc.. playing around with RX or was there a different approach?
Hey, thanks for watching! I have a good copy of the special that includes the separate audio tracks used in custom sound setups (thanks Netflix) -- so there's one for vocals/dialogue (microphone input), instrumentals, supplemental bass for certain songs, etc. The "Bezos I" bit in the middle uses only the microphone input track with hilarious results. I did play around with the instrumental stem of "Content" with sound effects and layers for the section at 0:45.
Damn, way better than the og trailer and on top of that it's not cos of just adding that song... It's due to the perfect editing... Man! U've got talent... This is what is called Great Filmmaking
Thanks! I'm self-taught. I've been editing every now and then on RUclips since 2007, back when it was the wild west. I always enjoyed making fan trailers the most. :)
I think it shows a littleeeeee too much footage for a ‘movie’ as short as Inside, but this is one of the best edited fan trailers I’ve ever seen, WELL DONE
Hello! Would I be able to use this trailer as part of a video review I’m creating for Inside? (There’s examples on my page of how I’ve used other trailers this way if you wanted to see what I mean). I have an underrated and underseen film podcast, and I try to create 3 minute videos just breaking down the full length episodes and Inside is up next, and this trailer is perfect and captures the whole piece so well! Let me know what you think, thank you :)
Hah, yes, I am me! And thanks for watching! Yeah I'm still a little rusty, there was a solid 7ish years there where I didn't make anything. But over the past year or so I found myself with extra time on my hands, and how about that? Editing is still super fun! ☺️
Great trailer well done. My one critique is almost every quote and text blurb that comes up is there for about a 3rd the amount of the time it should be.
Hah, yes, you are correct, the text is too fast. Inside has so many great clips to include in such a short amount of time! But thank you for that observation, I'll keep that in mind when working on the next thing. :)
No -- the first song is the instrumental stem from "Content" that I messed with a little to make some new harmonies. The second song is "Ugly Ending" by Best Frenz, link in the description! I modified it a little to remove the lyrics in the second line of the chorus. The rest is all Bo from Inside!
I think the actually trailer is way better. This feels too upbeat for what the tone of Inside is, the actual trailer is a clip of make happy followed by Bo staring at the open door. It's much shorter which I think fits really well. I can tell you put a lot of effort into this, but it just doesn't fit the vibe, and is waaay to long.
Wow this was so, so, so great. The editing was perfect. Excuse me while I watch it 27 more times. Thank you!
