De La Ghetto Talks About How LA Is A Magical City For Him & His Music

Viva Cali artist De La Ghetto visited our studios with Power106 Morning show host Letty to chat about his long awaited return to Los Angeles.
De La Ghetto has called Los Angeles his second home ever since his first visit in 2005. He says, "Los Angeles has another flavor." Songs like "Sensación del Bloque" and "I'm your Lover" became hits in Los Angeles before spreading like wildfire over the globe. “LA has a more versatile ear than other cities” he mentions.
De La Ghetto claims that before they heard songs like "Tu te Imaginas" and "Dices," many stations were reluctant to play his music since it was reggaeton. “Reggaeton has now surpassed hip hop, and pop and rock” he said.
De La Ghettos father was killed when he was a baby and his mom was in jail for most of his life “it’s hard growing up in the hood by yourself and with no directions” This encouraged him to show young people in the neighborhood that it is possible to leave a difficult situation and pursue your aspirations, whether they be in Puerto Rico, America, Columbia, or somewhere else.
