Escanor was the Lion's Sin of Pride of the Seven Deadly Sins, the former second prince of the Kingdom of Castellio, and the man known throughout the Kingdom of Liones as "The Strongest Holy Knight". His Sacred Treasure was the Divine Axe, Rhitta, and his inherent power was called Sunshine, which made him renowned for gaining immense power during the day, and gradually becoming weaker with the setting of the sun, leaving him frail and submissive at night.

Escanor's powers are definitely one of the strongest in the show..and the eventhow they aren't his own he still managed to do things that little to none other characters could do..
Escanor was an amazing character till the very end
I loved the character Escanor he just hits as an amazing character throughout the show, although he dies its sad, but as all good characters, they die in the end.
@Spectrum Himself well I wouldn't say that. Mael can use sunshine with no draw back, unlike escanor who was slowly dieing from it. He also has immense physical strength without sunshine so sunshine is even stronger then it is normally. So id say base sunshine, Mael is stronger, but escanor a better user since I don't think we've seen mael use Cruel sun or any of escanors ability. He just uses it as a form or brute strength. Escanor has The One: Ultimate which i don't think mael has since angels are near immortal. They can live For insanely long times, so even if mael could use it, it wouldn't be as strong as escanors but he'd be able to use it longer.
So mael is the stronger user base sunshine, but escanor is the better one. And escanor becomes the stronger one with his the one Ultimate. So you are technically right. I don't even know why I wrote this.

@Spectrum Himself I actually suspect the only reason Escanor can handle Sunshine is because of how physically weak he is without it. I specifically say physically because mentally he's strong since he was able to throw off Gowther's abilities without Sunshine. Someone like Ban who has more power for a human would keep being destroyed if he tried to use it because the power after Sunshine multiplies it would be too much for him. So basically Escanor's base power is just weak enough that Sunshine didn't kill him instantly when it multiplied it.
Course we have no confirmation for why he can handle it, that's just what makes sense to me.

You misunderstand the true definition of a simp. Escanor is no simp, he only cares deeply for those who cared about him. He knew merlin wouldn't and didn't feel the same way, and he respected that. Instead of trying to force his love upon her or try to make her love him like a simp, he respected her feelings and boundaries and didn't tell her his love for her until his final moments.
And I thought that Meliodas’ and Elizabeth’s love story was tragic. Escanor is a true man. He writes poetry, he loves his friends and he never tells the love of his life that he loves her. He only keeps it inside and respects her decision, knowing she couldn’t reciprocate.

Is and always will be my favorite character of the series. The love he had and maintained for Merlin felt like nothing short of a Shakespearean tragedy to me.

If nothing else all the sacrifices he made through his ark proves that.
The self imposed exile, the humbleness to work under Meliodas,the unconditional love for Merlin ,giving up Sunshine to someone who could use it better and taking it back to help his friends knowing it would cost him his life straight up show us he probably the only Sin who was not in it mainly just for self serving objectives.

Fun Fact: Escanors power seems to be paterned after that of the Knight Sir Gawin from the King Arthur Mythos, Arthurs cousin, who was stated to have strength that followed the Day and Night Cycle becoming an invincible swordsman at noon, so in that regard Escanor is one of very few members of the Sins who can directly relate to Authurian Canon, even if it is indirectly.
imagine having a power in your body so powerful, that if you were to use it to it's maximum, you would die, no matter what. and Escanor managed to use that power to do good and stay loyal to his friends, all the way, until his end came by the very same power. it's poetic in such a beautifully painful way, i'd call it a masterpiece.
Escanor was so amazingly developed and was such a chad. He was also really cool. R.I.P Escanor.

Escanor is the best character in the entire series, he made me excited to see the next season because I love it when he one-shots demons. But, then they nerfed him, and finally kill him in the weakest way possible; it wasn't even at the end of the series, he's gone and yet the show continues, despite them being short 1 Sin. It just killed my interest in the series; I didn't bother finishing S4, Idc if there is a final season, SDS is dead to me. Escanor deserved better.
If he had to die, then let his death be like Spock's from Wrath of Khan: an epic sacrifice only he could do, his actions not only saving everyone, but somehow reviving Arthur and help him to the throne the way Merlin wanted, and leaves the door open for a possible return. Instead, we get something like Kirk's death from Generations: a pointless end for a great hero, because the MC was too much a of punk to defeat the villain on his own.

@@stefhonsmith6547 its a shame too because even merlin herself admitted that she had strong feelings for escanor in her own way. the only real crush merlin ever had was meliodas but he didn't view her that way. merlin is like a lot of scientists who are so busy that they don't have much interest in dating or enough time. the fact that merlin says that she wishes that escanor had been around 3,000 years ago says that she would have considered escanor as a partner had her crush on meliodas not been so strong.

My problem with Seven Deadly Sins aside from the Bad Animation is that Every Character expect Escanor is bland like meliodas he's short but the most powerful Sin, and the major problem isn't this, everyone expect Escanor got together with their loved one, King got Diane, Ban got Elaine, Meliodas got Elizabeth, but ma man Escanor what does he get a Big L, And gets killed for no fu*king reason i mean so everyone's happy except Escanor, and that bit*h merlin she never reciprocated Escanors feelings when he was alive and used him as a personal servant and was into a kid fu*king 1000+ years younger than her and when Escanor was dying she just kissed him so that he won't feel bad i mean that's bullsh*t, and it isn't even killing Character for the plot they fu*king brought back a dead blonde loli (Elaine) for Ban to fu*k and they let the coolest Character die, that's bs

It’s hard to watch all this happening again now that I know that Merlin is literally playing all of them and using them for her own plan to accomplish her own goals, and uses Escanor the most and takes total advantage of his feelings for her. Pretty sure she did it on purpose after he told her she reminds him of the woman that saved him and that he fell in love with. She is such a piece of filth, then even after they are understanding and forgive her she continues to lie knowing what her savior will bring upon the world.

Escanor is hands down, one of the most theatrically memorable characters in anime, on account of dialogue as a show of power. Definitely up there with the likes of Madara, Kenshiro, Vegeta, Sanji, and Lelouche. Not necessarily the strongest in-universe, but the one that sticks in your head the longest (in Kenshiro's case, yeah, he would be the strongest.)
