After Endgame was done, Chris Evans's Captain America is done, so that cameo caught me by surprise. It's also a way to give us one more time the chance to see Chris Evans and the Captain America shield in a movie (although in separate shots)
The best part is that the cameo was a last minute thing because Evans was in the area doing another production

I feel like the whole Marvel scene wouldn't have worked if they didn't have the Chris Evans cameo. That made it great.
As cool as it was to see a lightsaber, there wasn't really any point to that and it just seemed self-indulgent.

Fun fact this was added late into the film development. The people making the film realized that now they were own by Disney they have special access to things.
Another fact is that the cameo was also done last minute since chris Evan was shooting another show at the time and Ryan asked if he could make a quick cameo

When I saw this on DVD, it was hilarious.
To me I feel like Ready Player one and Free Guy is so underrated, those movies had so much potential but everybody is so focused on what is cool to the new generation now
Ready Player One isn't comparable to Free Guy. RPO is all about reliving and recreating the 'glory' of 80s pop culture to an obsessive degree. I'm a child of the 80s. I remember when John Hughes movies first hit the theaters, backcombing your bangs and BIG curling irons to get the HUGE HAIR, neon colors and Swatch watches, and when MTV actually played music. He-Man, Smurfs, Fraggle Rock, Back to the Future, Madonna, The Bangles, Reagan...all of it. There were definitely lots of awesome things about the 80's, but there was also SO MUCH that was INCREDIBLY problematic. SO. MUCH. People wanted to like RPO, but the movie had legit problems, the biggest being it was based on flawed source material.
@@hoppytoad79 the problem with Ready Player One was that they didn't even care for the original book the movie was based on. The book has a great message about praising the past too much and not focusing on what's up today and the movie was... "drive backwards nobody on earth tried that."
Nah, its cause perticularily RPO didn't do anything new, nor does it use its "old stuff" to do anything new.
There is a serious lack of things that are "cool to the new generation" because more and more the 30 year cycle of nostalgia has killed blockbuster creativity. Ready Player One disappointed because it was like eating Cheeto dust, nothing but nostalgia for people from the 80s and 90s, which nothing for anyone else.
I’m a huge fan of the book (RPO), so naturally the movie dissapointed me quite a lot for how different it is. It’s still a pretty good movie in it’s own right, but Free Guy had the benefit of just being a new thing, separate from an adaption and also being more relatable than the content inside RPO so I can see why it might appeal to a wider audience.
