I can't figure out how some people didn't think matts dogs are not living there best life. You can tell by how friendly and loving those dogs are.
I've heard Matt say he gets flak for the dogs, but I've never actually seen such a comment.
I feel sorry for the dogs, running in the sand and gravel and heat and cold!
Good enough? :-D :-D :-D
And they are enjoying it!!
those dogs are my favorite part of the channel!

@@melin1969 :-D Absolutely!!
Must be an amazing feeling going out to work in two vehicles that only exist because of your own time, effort & vision! Nice!
I have a suggestion… PAINT THE REMOTES YELLOW!!!
I can't imagine the pride you and your crew must be feeling using the vehicles you custom built out on the trails. It is something special to watch.
Yes, completely agree.
It's more like anxious to watch it fall apart or fail. lol.. After they get a few months of service under it's belt and give a good shake down and upgrades, etc.. then it will be something to be proud of. It's still in the teething stage.
Yes always satisfactory feeling and accomplished to use things you built
@@calholliDebby Downer
@@jamesplymire5342 I guess you don't understand the frustration of finishing a build and things keep breaking.. or you designed something wrong and have to change something major, etc.. It's hard to avoid. So there's a huge difference when you're still grinding through that-- vs when you've done many jobs without a single issue and it just feels unbreakable and ultra reliable and you don't have that little worry in the back of your mind of all the unknowns.. I'm not being a downer, I just understand what stage that thing was in at the time... Which I was totally right, because he went on to break both drive shafts not long after that... and the headers overheated some wires later after that, so he wrapped them... and the brake sensor lost pressure recently, and Jefe almost went barreling down the hill with no brakes. So I'm sure he will find a better, more reliable fix for that too, I'm sure. So call me a downer all you want, but I was 100% correct-- it's still in the teething stages.. But it's getting there. It's a fun rig.
That lady was so sweet to give the dog a cookie. I hope she watches this and sees her praise and that makes her feel good so she continues her acts of kindness.
Matt wants a dog biscuit too

Oddly enough, i am on vacation, and visited Sand Hallow, and rented a Side by Side, And just so happen to see you all while doing a recovery. Lets just say my wife said quit being a fan boy. It was awesome to see you all drive on by the top of the world while pulling the broken side by side out with the new truck! Hope to be back this way in utah to hopefully meet you all! ( Didn't want to stop you, to talk to you ) Keep up the good work!
That's so cool!! I'd have been star struck myself lol
My wife keeps asking me where I want to go on vacation. When I answer “Southern Utah”, she asks, “What you gonna see out there?”. I say “ Southern Utah”…

Matt, you should add a magnet to the magnet to each remote. If you wired a simple circuit with some lights, you could have a board on the dash showing whether all the remotes are accounted for or not. If all remotes are back in their "home", all the lights are green - if one is not, it would show red and let you know before you leave that you have problems.
Matt already doesn't read his fuel gauges, I don't see why he'd start reading his remote gauges too! 😆
@@karlschwaber9568 you didn’t read his comment very well. The op is saying to attach a magnet to a sensor that the remote’s magnet would attach to.
This would be very easy to program and build with a small, cheap Arduino micro controller.
I was thinking of a vest covered with pockets for all the remotes, and each remote attached to a reel-type retracting key leash. Let go of the remote and, zip, it goes back in the pocket. :D
This makes my control circuit mind run wild. Any person programmed like that just cannot leave anything alone lol. Youd think controls being a career would have most avoiding such on their off time, nope not me.
Peanut may need a special perch on the back of the wrecker. She seems to love riding back there but it was probably all the more wonderful for her to be riding back there WITH Rhett. A boy, a dog, outdoor adventure. Doesn't get much better than that. You are a top notch young man, Rhett. Glad to see you in these vids.

You guys should be very proud of Rhett... I have seen him grow...his descriptions of the job are so great and spot on....great job buddy
He's a natural in front of the camera!
I should not be surprised if "the survey says" that 10-or-15% of the total views are young teenage girls hoping to get a glimpse of Rhett. (That number may be a bit low.)
I love Matt’s huge grin as he goes through the tollbooth. He’s in heaven!!! Love it!!!
Wrecker rolls like it was made for recovery work. Two wheel drive and still climbing the hills. Jamie is as beautiful as ever and tour guide means I want to sign up for a tour.
Thanks for taking us along.
Hey, it's funny you should say that. I heard a rumour that the wrecker really *was* built for recovery work! How 'bout that?
The cab you selected for the wrecker is a classic choice. It really makes the wrecker look great.
I like it, too. I have a picture on the wall of an IH R series single axle road tractor pulling a gas tanker that was bought in the early '50's for my Dad's business. They were workhorses.
it looks nice, but should be a crew cab
@@timothykelly5588 he didn’t want to long of a wheelbase but would have been convenient
@@williamdavis8161 Yeah , my dear old dad (RIP ) also drove an international truck similar to that back in the 60`s , i think it was a single drive too , i have fond memory's doing an interstater from Melbourne to Queensland and back , the old inter , i remember she was a noisy old girl and heavy loaded on some of the bigger hills she would be back to first gear :) , and she got bloody hot in the cabin :) , dad always had an esky full to the brim with ice and the small cokes for his trips .
Like the saying goes, when your Ford is stuck, and your Chevy is broke, and your Dodge has set the garage on fire, International Harvesters show up and make everything OK.
I'm so excited to see the wrecker doing a recovery, can't imagine how the crew must feel.
You might want to look at a DMI hitch type attachment for the heavy wrecker to attach a draw bar to the vehicle being towed. They telescope and swing side to side for hook-up, and then lock once you pull forward. Also has a spring to cushion the for-and-back movement while towing.
The Heavy Wrecker and the Morrvair traveling side-by-side is just perfect! Matt is the da Vinci of the modern fab era!!
It's so nice seeing the yellow beast on the road and out of the shop... it almost seems surreal. Thank you guys for providing some of the best content I see. Hats off to you Matt, and your awesome team!
I work way up North in the Arctic in Alaska at a mine as a powerplant operator/mechanic for weeks at a time and I live for these episodes, it makes my life seem just a little bit normal :) !!!

Heyyy, me too. What else are we supposed to do? lolol
It was cool seeing you guys out on the trail. My son and I driving by in the (2) white Jeeps (7:31).
I think Peanut would appreciate some skid tape on top of that toolbox, haha! Might become her favorite spot to cruise!
Two suggestions for the remote misplacement -- first, paint them a bright yellow so that they're easier to spot when inevitably they get misplaced. Second, consider 'Air Tag'ing them with some kind of sensor that talks to phones that could give you a warning when the remote is not in range and help with finding the direction of where they are.
It’s like coffee in the morning!
My fix of Matt’s Off-road.
Thanks guys, I’m ready for the day!
So great to finally see the wrecker being used on jobs, after watching the build process. Great work Matt and team!
The look on Peanut's face after she got a treat was worth the time.
Nice to see the Big Wrecker earning its keep. Maybe consider putting a Air Tag on each remote if they go missing in the future
Don't airbags require network connectivity to work? I would be surprised to hear there is a network out where they do their recoveries, sometimes they don't even have cell service!
@@JointerMark not network, no, they use nearby iPhones. But it would allow them to know where one was last seen by someone on the crew with an iPhone.
I used to have a border collie called Puck who would come camping and wheeling with me in my FJ40, and the my Landrover County back in the 1990's It's great seeing your dogs on adventures, and what great dog Peanut is. Brings a tear to the old eye seeing her run alongside and ahead, always coming back for a cuddle and a pat.
Isn’t she great? I’m glad it brings memories of your dog back for you tho. Even tho I know you miss yours. Our dogs certainly make an impact on our live and in our hearts. 🌺
It must be great for the customers who have been waiting long hours in the quiet wild, to see happy Peanut and Max run up to greet them, maybe right after they hear the approaching rig. "We found you! We'll get you out!" Nothing raises spirits like a smiling dog wagging the tail.
love how much y"all keep pushing the trail clean up. Not enough people in the off road world respect the landscapes they themselves enjoy.
As a long time Moab resident I’ve seen a gradual improvement in the way 4x4 operators treat the land. Just when we educated our group along come atv operators. Mostly new to the trails and careless. A whole new group to educate. Thanks Matt for spreading the word via your awesome channel!
Why do I feel like Patagonia is gonna make a set of 54s special for the wrecker now😁
I had an idea Matt! You could attach a couple tow hooks to the metal support/reinforcing frame on the back axle. It may make it easier and faster to attach a line, instead of having to wrap around the axle. Especially on muddy days it will be a much cleaner job. Love "TOWMORR" aka the WLORW. Can't wait for the Wrecker Games.
Great recovery guys.....that wrecker looks so sweet pullin something....Jamie is amazing...she's up for any challenge !!!..... thanks for sharing this with us
I LOVE PEANUT!!!!!! I spent most of the time watching Peanut while still trying to stay connected to the action in the video. She is a polite dog but also REALLY likes to be related to, and around you MATT. You are her favorite for sure. I mean polite when she accepted the treat given to her from the attendant, through Matt at the entry station of the park grounds. That was cute. She also seems to know when it is time to ask for "getting-out-and-running" privileges. I like to see her find the various perches that she will use when riding in a moving vehicle, either in the front, or back or outside on the wrecker. In this show she jumped on the cowl in front of the windshield while still in the garage (near the end of the show). That is one of the few dogs that I would like to have around me most if not all the time.
Peanut knows how to place herself in the back in the camera view. She’s such a smart dog. Any video with Hollie and Peanut are great videos. 🌺
I gotta say, I really like Eric from BSF's system with that tow bar - The A-Arm lifts up the vehicle and takes the vertical load, then the lower tow bar controls the fore/aft motion. The Razer on this job was kinda all over the place.
Upon thinking about it, you could probably fabricate a piece that slides into your hitch receiver, so that you can remove it if it's not required. Something shaped like a T-Bar that has the ability to hinge up/down. Ability to swivel probably wouldn't be bad, either, if you're recovering from a lot of rock crawling situations. Now I"m thinking some kind of large ball-joint type connection, to allow 6-way movement (up/down, left/right, and rotation), while still controlling that fore-aft motion.
I’ve seen some setups that use basically a couple of yokes and u-joints so it has plenty of movement in all directions except forward and backward.
I feel like their setup might need some springs or shocks to allow some front/back movement but still stop it before it hits the wrecker.
So awesome to see the wrecker out in the wild. The bugs will get worked out. Building something from the ground up is definitely going to have gremlins. They will go away little by little
I hope y’all are gonna film the wrecker games for those of us stuck on the east coast , and can’t attend .
It sounds like it’s gonna be a blast!
Hollie is an absolute *GEM!* I could listen to her talk for days!
What makes her a gem? She's totally plain and boring.
Great video!! I'm surprised at how well the wrecker did with only 2 wheel drive!! That was pretty awesome!! Time for some more praise for the camera crew and the editing!! Super great job!!!
Glad to see Ret isn’t getting shocked sitting back there. And Peanut looked like she loves the heavy wrecker. Maybe attach a rubber stop or a hose on the edge of the tool box, for the sliding moment you need to stop and the metal has no gription.
Gription? Lol
Haha, gription. It actually is in a couple of dictionaries.
@@Milamberinx Yeah although it’s a suggested new word in Collins at the mo. Not an actual word yet.
Detachable seat on the back might be nice.
@@raychambers3646 A seat out of the back of a Subaru Brat might work. They even have some grab bars. Probably many other vehicles have something similar nowadays.
The MORRvair sounds just as cool as it looks, I’d drive that in a heartbeat 😍

JayMee is a rockstar. Raises a great family with Matt. Always jumps in to help Matt when asked. And has become quite the offroader.
What you need for the wrecker is a set of adjustable towbars that hook to the back of the wrecker and to the front of whatever vehicle you're hauling. That will keep it from surging forward and backward while the cable keeps it in the air.
Like the traditional wreckers. Back when everything had metal bumpers, they had big rubber slings that went around bumpers, but I suppose that wouldn't work in the new world of all collapsible/plastic front ends.
If you tow on the flat road that would be the choice, but since they are towing offroad it's not always so great.
Check out The Trailmater on youtube, he have explained why towbars are not the way to go on a offroad wrecker.
@@mrolsen6987 BSF recovery runs one
@@Smokey_A you can still sling tow plastic cars, it's just not as easy or practical. Holmes made "Vette bars" for just that reason. I've made my own and with proper blocking they work well, but not if you had to use them constantly.
I spy a removable sling in the future
I knew peanut and the other pups like to run along side the trucks and explore the trails. I didn’t know Rhett liked to as well. Lol 😂 0:58
It's always good to bring your biggest piece of equipment to the rescue. 👍👍🙂🙂
Nice.
Tip for the remotes: wrap them in bright retro-reflective tape (e.g. SOLAS) to make them easy to spot in daylight or by searchlight if they get dropped.
Jamie has become a very confident and talented driver over the years it’s been great to watch.
Wrecker is awesome! Well done. Hopefully someone like Traxxas or Axial makes a RC version of that truck! Would be sweet!
That would be awesome!
I think Peanut has found a new favorite spot. Every time you go through the entrance she is going to want her treat.
Seeing that wrecker out in the wild with rescue in tow is a beautiful sight! well done MORR crew
I’m actually shocked that no one was able to help pull that van out, with it being right by the paved road. Seems to be pretty packed with traffic too. Anywho great work guys!
It is so cool what a confident and capable driver Jamie is
So bummed I can't make it to the Wrecker Games....but no doubt the videos will be even more epic than usual! Stay safe and have wicked fun!
Matt the ORW IS AWSOME! had some doubts about its capabilities, but the two wheel version is beyond belief how strong and agile the beast is. Good luck, but trailmater has experience with off road wreckers, and Paul will break his before he gives up. Can’t wait to see the out come. Great content by the way. 👍🏻
I'm not familiar with dog channels but I'd say Peanut is living her best life, what a happy pooch.
And the humans seem pretty well adjusted too.
My wife and I are hooked on your videos, it’s amazing where people think they can go. Great job and best of luck on tow truck competition.
I loved it when you turned around at the end peanut was chasing you as if you were leaving and then was like, oh ok! we just went in a circle! lol
Matt, You need to build a triangulated tow bar that connects to the pintle hitch, so you can do these recovery's solo. Love your content and your builds!
We use an universal tow bar for these recoverys, but I think it would be to heavy for the application
It doesn't articulate enough.
I think it would articulate enough. The universal traverse snapping over at some weird angles might be the biggest problem.
That what I was thinking! It’s how they use to do it. And he could build it much stronger than it needs to be, and only used when needed.
Rory would disagree.
With all this great camera work and the amount of time I’ve been invested in watching Matt’s off road recovery. Is it wrong to ask for like half a video of just peanut 😂 🥜
I like how the Morrvair just calmly pulled that minivan out of the sand without batting an eyelid. Good job, Holly.
Also, front driveshaft or no, that wrecker looks totally awesome. I hope the wrecker Olympics includes a section on how awesome the vehicle looks.
I did 4x4 winch competition (Europe).
We hardwired the “joysticks” used for controlling marine Bow Trusters into the winch control wiring, mounted on the dash for the driver.
We also have extra winch control switches next to each winch fairlead for the co-pilot/winch monkey (for spooling in)
The original remote controls are also stil usable, but we almost never use them.
All the options…
We run Warn 12v winches at 24v (switchable) with gigglepin dual Bow motors up front. Red Winch dual motor winch in the back. Warn m8000 in the center as a top winch.
Lastly we run a pto driven “God winch” based on a landcruiser 80 series transfercase PTO (cut and reversed to run to the rear), driving a single samurai dif, driving a huge homemade drum with 70meter (210 feet?) dyneema rope. That thing is scary…It accelerates so fast when winching that the co-pilot can not outpace it in the mud, you can get run over.
Matt, if you want more cheap traction on your big tires, you should sipe tem. It's a process used in winter areas. Basically, slicing the tire to create more edges to grab a slippery surface, ice, and smooth rock. This process does not damage tires, and they often run cooler. A professional tire shop can sipe tires. Good luck on the wrecker.
He needs to air down. Way too much pressure. Where are those beadlocks?
I love that you think Matt doesn’t know what siping is 🤦🏼♂️🤦🏼♂️
Guys do the same on mtb and mx bikes, it helps improve traction at much slower speeds as the tread can activate and form much easier
@@blahblah121212 I think they mentioned they are only at 8psi in a previous video, those tires are just so big it doesn’t look like they are aired down that much I guess!
@@johny2469 alot of people don’t know what it is… maybe the explaining is also for the audience who may read the comment.
When you realize that this RZR recovery is the EXACT reason Matt wanted to build the wrecker. I can imagine that he was a very happy man as he realized that all came together as planned several months ago... 😎🤟
I'm used to the dogs running past, but I had to laugh when I saw Rhett run past.
Happy to see you and all the crew happy that the Wrecker is doing well even with a missing drive shaft. You always enpower others and bring cheer. Always happy myself to see a new video.
The wrecker was cool, but... the beautiful smiles from the Morr-vair ... 😁 I always like before watching, we know it's awesome.
Okay, on this recovery how many total miles did you cover? I think you could sometimes add this info to your recovery introduction. Love the international and the ridge scenery was beautiful.
All of them...
It seems the wrecker would benefit with a tow bar style spreader that can be strapped to what is being towed to keep it from pushing into the back of the wrecker, but it appears to work very, very well otherwise. Really impressive how well it works considering it’s all from Matt’s imagination.
Lovely to see this giant beast rollin
The lady at the park entrance with the dog treat...that was so sweet and kind of her.
It's good to hear Rhett narrating Matt, you and Jamie have raised some pretty awesome boys.
Hey Matt, what it looks like would be super cool and helpful would be some sort of a pole/bar of sorts with a shock of some kind to help with the slack when accelerating and stopping. The towed vehicle looked like it could use something to keep it from being joseled around and even hitting the wrecker and causing more damage. Would be cool to see what your genius brain can come up with!!
I know very little about cars, but this new vehicle project is really interesting. I also love the scenery in Utah and the surrounding areas, basically because it's so different from my home country(Norway).

Man, I love that truck so much... it might be my favorite 4 wheeled vehicle to look at. The size of the tires make the whole thing look like a toy and I want one.
Matt is fabulous to see the new wrecker, a recommendation, for paint I would only add varnish to all the steel work, it looks tough, strong and shows the excellent engineering work in the metal!!!
Sooo much more could have gone wrong with a complete build like the wrecker. That being said, I think you and your team did fantastic!
Seeing the Morrvair run along side the heavy wrecker is an amazing sight! It's like the Morrvair is saying welcome to the team! Almost like its cheering the wrecker on. Great work! So happy for you guys (and pretty jealous if I am being honest lol)
I've never driven or used a tow truck before but I think you should use stabilizing slings like the old tow trucks . Like the fat rubber straps that go under the front end of the vehicle being towed. That would keep the towed vehicle from swaying side to side and front to back.
Amazing videos. This one gave me a thought after Holly tell the weather and seeing Peanut what kind of video it would be if peanut had a harness with a camera as she runs around.
Good, wholesome family entertainment right here, boys and girls. Exactly what this country needs more of I say.
Hey Matt,
I got to say that you guys need to find a way to have the rear axel self align so that you don't have to worry about lining everything up straight before you continue driving. Maybe set a controller up that somehow allows you to program, say 3 to 5 minutes after you have used the controls, before it automatically aligns back to centres.
Other than that... Nice job!... Well-earned respect for you all taking on this outstanding project.
Awesome job, and with only 2-wheel drive! Oh man; can't wait to see the wrecker games unfold!
