Dare to dream Blues fans, this is the best team we have had since 1995 Grand final. As Zehaar the 'Site Inspections' bloke says ...... LEEEEEETS GOOOOOOOOO !!!
Hopefully getting players back and no more serious injuries. In terms of who comes in and out, I think vossy has shown his hand consistently. Unless out of form he will pick the bigger bodies and the more physical players. Not bagging anyone, but I think Martin, Cotterell , cerra come in, and unfortunately, fantasia, durds and possibly Ollie Hollands go out. Tough decisions, I like Ollie, just think his relatively low disposal numbers for a winger and slight frame may see him pushed out
The thing about Ollie is, he might be a factor why Elijah is so insanely good at the moment. Playing with his brother clearly had a big positive effect on him. If taking him out means Elijah being not as good, I would seriously consider keeping him in the team above one of the named players. Orazio, although improved, has to be dropped, the other players are clearly better in normal form. Durdin, too, a good talent but not yet on the level to have the same impact as the others. So question might be, Ollie or Martin…
I think Cottrell's a like-for-like swap with Fantasia - Fantasia's playing wing minutes alongside the forward flank which is Cotters to a tee. I would've said a Kennedy or Hewett get dropped for Cerra but they played in a midfield which was superb so I couldn't tell you to be honest for this week specifically. I can see Ollie getting booted from the side though, Cottrell plays full time wing minutes, and Martin comes into the side. How elite would it be to see Cerra coming off the bench as a sub? Bit outlandish but is there any possibility?
I do not think this game was an aberration. This is Carlton maturing into a side with highly skilled players, and excellent and deep supporting cast and finally after so long with an ability to execute at a championship level. I expect this level of play to continue the rest of the season and through finals.
I like seeing all the causes and effects laid out like this. Really helps put what I was watching together. It's actually pretty simple in the end, isn't it? Maintaining shape, reading the play, being accountable for your direct opponent where appropriate. There were always Blues players in the way of Geelong's passing lanes, not a lot of daylight offered all game. I guess this level of coverage is possible only with a massive amount of running, which is why so many guys had huge KMs run numbers. Is that sustainable for the rest of the way plus post-season? What you show at around 7:00 onwards looks to me almost exactly like what Melbourne was doing in their premiership season. Same overall set up, same squeezebox effect. We've seen hints of this last season, and more throughout this season so far, done consistently and to perfection this time. Great to see. That's definitely something repeatable and in a way it's more efficient physically than other methods of coverage. Just lots of effort and football IQ to appreciate, really.
I thought Weitering running 15ks on the weekend was a typo but it goes to show all that off ball work he was doing to keep us sound defensively among others. It’s so satisfying when Carlton execute that compression type defence - fact Carlton were able to funnel Geelong into those wider positions was very assuring given they’ve obviously fixed that right up from earlier in the year where it was way too easy to exploit our roll up type defending and go from end to end
@@Sab.batical Very satifsying indeed. They were able to recognize how the spacing was wrong with some guys pushing up too far and leaving that gap for opponents to exploit. Quite the reverse from the last time these two teams met.
You deserve more views for sure, maybe team up with other Blues channels to widen your reach? Loved the video, and yes, even Sydney will get at least a little nerveus watching and analysing this game.

I agree for the most part but... I really like the Blues forward line with Jesse Motlop and I would omit Orazio Fantasia before Ollie Hollands.

May have to do some reaching out now that you mention it… for analysis or other stuff? That’s absolutely the benchmark right on par with the swannies
