The footage Kingy showed on First Crack where it showed two Carlton Forwards (I think Fogarty and Owies) pressing up as Port were attempting to enter their Forward 50, the Carlton players had their back to the play to prevent run-ons, deep inside-50s or shots on goal from Farrell and Houston was wild. The maturity and poise for not only for Voss to apply that but for the lads to nail it was immense. Hope to see more advanced coaching methods applied against other opposition in the future, master stroke from Voss.
It almost feels like rocket science though doesn't it? If you're standing side by side with a running half back, you're just allowing them to run through, but if you're facing them, it's like playing off ball defense in basketball where you're denying their best player freedom. Weeks ago when Carlton played Melbourne & we were up by a point with the ball in the centre, the Dees got a clearance because Rivers burst off the back of the square manned up by Hollands (I don't reckon that tactic was being implemented). Footy sometimes needs to get dumbed down for the best results and that move on Farrell & Houston is one simple example.
The McKay footage of Harry's workrate made me wonder: we've been waiting for him and Charlie to develop as teammates, and that specific passage of play - Harry to Charlie to Fog to Harry - seems to indicate their bond is growing. Have you noticed that as well? What do you think about the development of their combined game?
I don't think too much into the idea of their bond growing because that's something that would've happened years ago. I think it's growth from an on field IQ perspective. Understanding how to disperse yourself from one another, draw matchups away, alternate whose leading up the ground, fill the void where required. I think that example, Harry's a 2nd ruck, Charlie knows he needs to fill the space on the next kick at half back as a key outlet, and equally given Charlie took the mark, Harry knows that upfield he's gotta break even at the bare minimum, because otherwise it's a rebound the other way. I don't think that's anything to do with chemistry, I think that's more having the on-field knowledge of anticipating what's ahead and what role you have in those moments - just my view
100% the media attribute a lot of it to Cripps & Walsh and the main players, but I'd nearly agree with you on Acres being our best in the 4th. Kicked a goal himself, had a couple goal assists, key contributor on the outside - did it all
@@Sab.batical Agree with this.. I think we have to start looking at output vs ability for judging players. A team cant be made up of A Graders with 10/10 ability like Cripps, Walsh, Curnow, Weiters etc. We have to look at players like Cinc who definitely exceeded his ability last week and so important to giving us a chance at winning games. I personally feel that Walsh was low on his output compared to his ability, however he still almost secured 10 coaches votes. TDK also far exceeded, however ability is growing week to week. If bottom half of players can exceed their ability dont see us losing many games.
Mate videos like these are great. It's so hard to see whats happening on a deeper level while the games going on so these more general breakdown-style videos are the best. As a suggestion, if time permits (I know how much work it must be to put these together each week) I'd love to see if you can do a more general breakdown video like this and then another shorter one that highlights a specific player or tactic, like you ask for in the polls. Anyway, just a thought, keep up the great work 🤙
Glad you like them! I wish I could push the content out a bit more - potentially if I have a bit more time I'll consider a general post-game reaction (though there's tons of those already), but I think it's good I only do one analysis video a week. If I did more, I'd exhaust all the ideas & players across the season quicker and it affords flexibility with what I do on a weekly basis without repeating myself. Thanks for the suggestion
The football Carlton played in the 4th against Port and GWS was among the best any team played this season, even including Sydney. We can be contenders. Just need our best players to be fit and play consistently.
Cincotta was the most important role of the game for me. Since Voss has decided to put on hard tags we have negated midfields beautifully.
He's been excellent hasn't he - I've covered him in both the Collingwood & Suns game analysis if you haven't seen those yet

Blake Acres 4th was YUGE he was just everywhere in the last. May even been our best player in the 4th.

Been waiting for this!!! Always look forward to your analysis, especially after a good win. ❤
Lovely stuff
Every win is good, NO matter how it is said spun. Winning is the focus. Show me a bad win, then show me what the losers think about it 🤦🤷.
i reckon Crippa's start to the 4th was unbelieviable and the reason we won
Great way to respond to a quiet first 3 quarters for sure

Consistency is most definitely key (not only on a game by game basis, but a quarter by quarter basis)
Man, dude. why'd you spoil it by throwing Swans game in 🤦🤷.
@@jimmyohara2601 I didn’t throw the Swans game in, I had to mention the currently best team in the league when I talk about the best football🤷🏻♂️
