Hi Micael! I've cut off a round hole in the middle of an A4 sheet of white paper then created a cone with this paper and thus made a very cheap diffuser. It worked very very well. Thanks for your hints. Regards.
I’m only a kid but I started macro photography last summer in august 2019. I was on holiday and put my phone close up to a strand of grass and it literally looked so good and I decided to get into it
@@letszoomit365 i stopped doing it for a while because school was getting stressful but i think i’m probably going to take photography for my gcses because i’m still very interested in it
Thank u sir for your valuable tips. I started following ur works and ur priceless words, and it is helping me a lot sir. Plz sir suggest more tips about editing photos.Thank u sir.
Great idea for the difuser. I have taken some super macro htos with an inverted 18-55mm lens of salt, sand, sponges, fabric/textiles, the stingers of the nettle and they look awesome.
Hi great idea love the simple idea for making a diffuser I’ve just got into macro photography the possibilities are literally endless it just opens up a whole new world and using light and shadow you create some amazing images love the water drops idea genius.
Another good idea for diffusing flash. Others include a used Pringles tube with a slot cut for the flash head and with the plastic lid kept on as a diffuser. Just as good as my £50 magnetic globe diffuser and easier to get into tight spaces. Some good subject suggestions too - gonna try these. Thanks a lot.

One time I bought a bunch of cherry tomatoes in the supermarket, and the next day they were growing mold and we cannot eat them anymore. Bad quality. But it was a perfect subject for me to photograph. When I saw your tomatoes it made me think about that.
Michael, really enjoy your videos so practical and down to earth, music not blown out, almost zen like. Foam defuser - I like how it can be adjusted for lens length and deforms if it touches the object. My extension tubes arrive today, what lens is best for macro on a canon crop sensor- 10-18mm, 50mm , or 85mm ? I started photography a month ago, so much to learn and discovering so many different types, with macro I can sit at my kitchen table and discover entire worlds. If you ever make it to Southern California I would love to buy you lunch.
Greetings, thank you for sharing, I want to start taking macro photos as a hobby, but I don't have a flash or a macro lens (in Mexico they are very expensive) Can I get good results with extension tubes??? thank you
Hi Micael, since you are also using a Sony camera for macro I need to ask you this: How do you preview the image in the electronic viewfinder? I have the problem that with the macro settings dialed in the viewfinder is just black. Of course I can shoot photos with the flash at the right exposure (I am currently using a very cheap LED ringlight), but I cannot compose and focus when the flash is not firing since the preview image is always pure black. My only guess is that since my flash is completely manual power it cannot communicate well with the camera.
The most important feature in Sony cameras is the one called "Setting Effect" in the menus - when shooting macro it is good to turn it off, which means the camera will make the EVF picture as bright and nice as possible so you can see what's going on. Remember to still expose correctly though, as this setting will not save your photos from being underexposed :)
Inspiring content, well presented, without distracting hype. Well done. My guess is that coin photo would be a good candidate for focus stacking to get multiple levels of coins in focus. Your thoughts?
Yeah you could definitely do stacking there to get all the coins razor sharp. But in my opinion it sometimes looks more aesthetically pleasing with some background blur :)
I'm not sure. Most of the lenses available are good. Depends on what you are going to be shooting and how much you care about autofocus, magnification range and being able to electronically change aperture.
@@dipakbinayak1443 I have the Sigma 105mm Macro lens and it is Great. I use a Canon T7i and a Canon 6d. Macro is so much fun. Thank you Micael for your videos. So helpful.
Yes it is a bit of a problem to get it to appear on video, because it is so fast (usually 1/10 000 second or so). But let me assure you it came from the flash on the camera :)

Nice job Micael! This is making me want to pull out my camera on this dreadful day here in pa.
Really loved all these ideas! I have a question, what program do you use to create your videos?
Very inspirational, Thanks Micael
Very good job:)
Hi, great video with lots of tips. Please could you tell Me the type of diffuser you used. It looks perfect for my Olympus.
Well if you have enough patience to watch until 6:35 you will get your answers.. ;)
Thank you for the video and the subject ideas.

Thanks Micael!
Thank you for your reply, I must have a shot at macro .
They are called Cherry Tomatoes in the USA
Please tell me what is better to use for macro photography, macrorings or macrolens?
Macro lens is better because you can quickly adjust the magnification. Macro rings are a lot cheaper. Both give equally good image quality.

Can you please say more about the adaptor you used for the Meike MK300? Plus which version of the MK300 did you use?
These days I would recommend the mk320 instead. Available for all systems. The adapter was some cheap no name adapter I found on eBay.
See my video about the mk320

Brilliant
Can the foam diffuser be utilized with a built in flash, or must it be used with an external flash?
Can’t see why it wouldn’t work with built in flash. Just try :)
interesting idea i'll try at home 👍
will these work without flash?

If I use a ring flash is it necessary to use a diffuser?
It is necessary if you want your photos to look good.
Awesome
It's funny. i like it
Wau Amazing
How do you get such vibrant colors?
Use a flash and diffuser, expose correctly, avoid direct sunlight on your subject.
