"I've got a trash bag full of dirty bones" sounds like an indie song lyric.
Sounds like a description of me, tbh.
John Harvey lol
John Harvey you guys have to listen to Tom Petty the original lyrics ...I love horses...;-) ruclips.net/video/M5RjHELoev0/видео.html
I like how when Emily and the bear guy were talking about plants and animals, Stefan was there with his banana.
just an animal eating a plant!
I really really like how she explains about what things mean. e.g.-Scarring means muscle attachment, which indicates age. How cool!!
Yeah it's so cool how you can see one thing on a bone and be like, "aha, that must mean that it was old!" and i love how it was explained!
"what's with the double names?"
"emphasis!"
"and that was the day that I figured out how to use the eyewash station"
I laughed so hard at that
Oh! The lab safety officer in me is crying!
@@sarahleonard7309 I know right? It's like "I keep telling you people to read these things ahead of time. And you tell me that you do but...."
You know, Santa. Walking in the woods with a bag of bones... Right?
And that's why you should always be good
You don't want Santa to bone you, right?
He'll skin you and add your bones to the bag.
That's it.
That's not the Santa I know
I loved Emily mentioning geocaching.
I wish she had hidden a geocache while she was there: called it Part of a Bear. :)
It's amazing to see a great big bear in a little box like that.
This episode was beautifully shot special kudos to video editor
+The Turkey All Along || And the cameraman, if it wasn't the same person. Because that moving shot at 6:38 was really smooth.
That's all Michael Aranda. He has a company now called Synema Studeos and a vlog channel called Whatimdoingrightnow. Highly recommend.
Emily is awesome, and really cute. The guy in the video loves trees, amen brother. Trees deserve more credit.
Trees are great~!! I took a botany class my senior year, and LOVED it. :3
I love how they're walking on these trails through the snow to find parts of a bear skeleton and Stefan's just, you know, eating a banana. (1:56)
Also, at 5:25 you notice that Emily's boots/leggings combo is the exact same as the person in front of her's.
Great episode! Super cool how you could tell how old the bear was.
hiking? finding animal skeletons? why are you living my dream vacation?
It's just the bear bones ! LOL
She was 23 in this video? I'm 23 now and she's so much cooler than me D':
I keep coming back to this video. For years now. Its like a comfort to me to know these young people were having fun at a specific, snowy moment in time, in nature
That’s very sweet. I feel lucky to have so many moments of my life preserved in this way. I’m 35 now, still keep in touch with the groundskeeper. The museum has moved and grown. I have, too
"So what do you use to clean the bones?"
"Eh, you know... Dawn dish soap."
you are literally one of my favorite people in the world. you inspire me SO MUCH and I really want to be like you when Im older. keep being awesome :)
I would have probably wasted enormous amounts of time, trying to scrub those bones clean(er).
Upon finding the bear skeleton: "It's like Easter Sunday!"
Emily WOULD dissect the Easter Bunny...
Can anyone imagine this young lady when she's 70 or so, and completed her eccentric individual development, throwing lectures on spotty college students? Phenomenal👍
I agree with Adam - plants are super cool! :)
It's so funny how she says everything looks like cheese! ^^
I usually use ad block, but I now pause it when I watch the Brain Scoop and click on the ad no matter what it is. I want to keep this show alive, damn it!
The shots on this were to die for... Emily, that was incredible, as always. Your passion slips through the camera and cativates us in a truly amazing way.
I love bears and the theme song to this
Hydrogen peroxide is HOHO, not HOHOHO (5:28).
gluffoful they both are. Hydrogen per oxide.
MERRY CHRISTMASSS
LOVE that the description is from the song in Milo and Otis. This show just gets better and better
"And that was the day that I figured out how to use the eye wash station."
Great video! Loved seeing the hiking to collect the bones, loved the joking between Emily at the guy about plants and foxes, loved the camerawork, loved it all!
I kinda want to be a taxidermist now.
"Emily didn't wear a face mask. Now she doesn't have to." Yay eyewashes.
Love this show. I am fascinated every episode. Thank you for sharing it with us.
I love this show - every time there is a new episode I drop EVERYTHING I'm doing to watch it
Awesome! Science is awesome. Dead bears are... cool? xD Cooler now than they were before atleast, maybe.
so uh this is going to seem like a dumb question but what job/position does Emily hold?
She is the Chief Curiosity Correspondent at the Field Museum in Chicago. She is not a "formal" scientist.
Yummy Gore おいしいゴア.jpeg In Montana, at the time this was filmed, I think Emily was a volunteer.
"Welcome to my lab, where I clean the bones of unsuspecting tourists... I mean bears."
I just love this channel to death. Every single bit of content is just so well produced... It's gorgeous!
This episode was fantastic! You did a great job editing, Michael!
wow this is probably my favorite episode so far, emily being awesome as usual and michael's amazing camera work and stuff, so good!
Thank you guys! I just love what you do!
The Brain Scoop always leaves me in awe. Thanks!
Michael did a really great job getting all those shots in the forest. That one up the hill where the group is at the bottom and you can see the mountains is gorgeous.
This was extremely well produced. Great audio, wonderful variety in camera shots/pans. Captivated me the whole way through, and for 11 minutes that's impressive.
Good gracious, Emily gives me hope for our generation! I'm 23 as well, it's wonderful seeing a smart, articulate, AND attractive person on RUclips, saying something I want to hear. Subscribed.
The camera angles and paning are incredible this episode, great job Michael Aranda. And thank you Emily for being so awesome at what you do. Keep up that great work, DFTBA.
My favourite episode so far!
i love this show so much!!! totally my most fav channel ever
Michael Aranda's cinematography on this episode is absolutely beautiful!
Best episode in a while. Keep it up! Loving this channel!
I've been thoroughly enjoying Brainscoop since it began, and this is probably the best episode yet - not only was the content fun and interesting as always, but the camera work and sound was captivating to say the least. Just want to say: good work Michael Aranda (and Stefan Chin according to the credits).
Love everything in this channel!
Absolutely loved this episode. You guys have really outdone yourselves.
it's so gorgeous in the mountains. yay michael aranda!
This was probably my favourite episode so far. Really nicely done, everyone!
Amazing. I love this show.
I love this episode. It is so. beautiful.
Emily, I truly love watching your enthusiasm. Michael, your camera work was really amazing.
I love the music. All of it.
This was an incredibly awesome episode of Brain Scoop. It was well paced, had lots of humor, and was sufficiently quirky as I've come to expect. Awesome!
This episode is incredibly beautiful!
I love Emily's performances and personality and knowledge...but I also want to acknowledge Michael's wonderful skills with the camera, editing, and audio. The shots are so clear and beautiful, framed perfectly to make us viewers realize the breathtaking beauty of the surroundings. Thank you for giving me a little glimpse into the wild of Montana!
This was an absolutely amazing episode. I love the way everything is shot, and it's so interesting to see how stuff works in the lab.
Before this video, I don't think I had fully admired Michael's amazing cinematographic skill.
This show is just so great!
I had to come watch this video again to view the beautiful cinematography and editing on the part of Micheal and team. I just can't get over it. It's almost like art! You guys should be really proud of this video. Emily also did an awesome job, and I was facinated by all that mad info but this work just kept me 100% engaged the whole way through. Keep up the great work.
The production quality on this episode is out of this world! Fantastic work! It makes me so sad that this show can't be sustained.
This series is so great!!!!
the music makes this video so much more intense
i love everything about this video.
6:41-6:51 Emily, no one has ever looked prettier cleaning crap off of bear bones. What a beauty!
Michael you did an especially excellent job on this one. The cinematography + the scoring was just beautiful.
Agreed! I love the show so much, I don't know what I would do if it had to stop any time soon.
As Emily pointed out herself, Michael's work on this is outstanding. I take this part of the work for granted on tv, but for some reason I notice it much more on RUclips.
Props to whomever did the cinematography on this video, it's lovely!
Again, super happy about this series.
That was a really great episode, I'm impressed with both Michael's camera skills and Emily's knowledge.
really love the musics in this one
Micheal, I really apprecaiate and admire the quality of your work, despite the shoestring budget I know you are working on. The harder you work now, the greater the pay off. Love the dynamic movement shots in the lab. Your sound equipment is superb, you were somehow able to capture the stillness and vastness of the bush you were in. In fact all your ambiance sound work was great. That is what made this one IMHO. Keep it up!!!
The cinematography, editing, sound and overall pacing of this was incredible. All while being informative. Great job team!
Your enthusiasm and the skill of the whole team makes your channel great watching.
The shooting and score on this episode were particularly excellent!
The camera work on this was amazing, Michael! Emily, you are my nerd idol!
THAT was the BEST episode YET! Emily was on her game all he way through and the camera work and music was ... well played for lack of a better term.
I seem to have a hard time retaining information from a majority of my classes, but when it's something that I find interesting or that I WANT to learn about--it's easier to retain. You, Emily, are very fun to watch and I learn a LOT from you :)
Such an amazingly well put together video!
I think the fact that you compared the bones to three different types of cheeses deserves a grand congratulations.
The shots in this one were extra beautiful. You make dead things science look like high-class art. Both of you are utter badasses.
Exact! well said! Especially this episode's video capturing was done beautifully! Hats off to Michael Aranda1
Micheal Aranda really picks the best music for these videos. Great job!
The shots are actually very calm compared to most modern camerawork, which I do like. Michael gave a very nice response to my criticism that gives a bit of his insight in making it so visually powerful. It made me think of this channel as a documentary. Sometimes you get the informational bits, sometimes you get the artistic bits. Both are good in their own way (although I guess I made it clear which I prefer).
only Michael Aranda's VICE-esque music can make a video of Emily Graslie scrubbing bear bones with Dawn dish soap look like it belongs at an independent film festival
The cinematography of this episode was especially spectacular.
Michael, this was beautifully filmed and produced! Well done! *applause*
This is among the best videos on this channel
Emily, please keep up with this show! It's seriously the best
As an aspiring film major I have to give props to the camera work and sound in this as well as the content. I love it all!
I think this is my favourite video to date. So fascinating!
I never realised how much work went in to getting the bones how I seen them in museums, I have great respect for anyone with this job..... thank you for letting me see bones and learn. Also Emily thank you for bringing this on to youtube, I love learning about all this
The music, the filming, and Emily are beautiful.
I love the camera work during the bone scrubbing, there's just something really cool about it.
BEST EDITING AND FILMING DIRECTION RUclips HAS EVER SEEN
