Yes after digestion comes the absorption of nutrients, then assimilation takes place in which those nutrients are used by your body like carbohydrates breakdown into glucose during digestion, then it get absorbed in small intestine and transported to cells, inside the cell the glucose burn in presence of oxygen to produce energy and this is called assimilation and then egestion takes place
