I love the series! I’m making an outline of the missionary journeys in order to know the context of his accounts and epistles from a historical point of view.
This is an incredibly informative presentation. I love to hear Dr. Smith, and would love to dialogue with him, and even challenge him on certain issues. @34:18...There _is_ a passing reference to Paul's mother. I couldn't find an allusion to Paul's father in Romans 16.
I mean nothing bad about it just trying to figure things out in my life biblically i really hope not the only that asks this question I've learned alot and thank you Dr. Smith,
Hello pastor. I hope you read this. Am Monica from Kenya. Please make this video downloadable. I always read your analysis on every book of the Bible. I enjoyed your analysis of Joshua. I really appreciate these studies to the bible. But I am confused in one thing if the sabbath day only pertains to Jewish people and not gentiles is it not one of ten commandments that one should obey i would think this one would be just as important as the rest of them. To me unless clearly this commandment would say only to Jewish people but not gentiles would make more sense...but it doesn't say that in my bible
Thus saith the Lord, Keep ye judgment, and do justice: for my salvation is near to come, and my righteousness to be revealed. Blessed is the man that doeth this, and the son of man that layeth hold on it; that keepeth the sabbath from polluting it, and keepeth his hand from doing any evil. Neither let the son of the stranger, that hath joined himself to the Lord, speak, saying, The Lord hath utterly separated me from his people: neither let the eunuch say, Behold, I am a dry tree. For thus saith the Lord unto the eunuchs that keep my sabbaths, and choose the things that please me, and take hold of my covenant; Even unto them will I give in mine house and within my walls a place and a name better than of sons and of daughters: I will give them an everlasting name, that shall not be cut off. Also the sons of the stranger, that join themselves to the Lord, to serve him, and to love the name of the Lord, to be his servants, every one that keepeth the sabbath from polluting it, and taketh hold of my covenant; Even them will I bring to my holy mountain, and make them joyful in my house of prayer: their burnt offerings and their sacrifices shall be accepted upon mine altar; for mine house shall be called an house of prayer for all people. Isaiah 56:1-7 KJV Then all the multitude kept silence, and gave audience to Barnabas and Paul, declaring what miracles and wonders God had wrought among the Gentiles by them. And after they had held their peace, James answered, saying, Men and brethren, hearken unto me: Simon hath declared how God at the first did visit the Gentiles, to take out of them a people for his name. And to this agree the words of the prophets; as it is written, After this I will return, and will build again the tabernacle of David, which is fallen down; and I will build again the ruins thereof, and I will set it up: That the residue of men might seek after the Lord, and all the Gentiles, upon whom my name is called, saith the Lord, who doeth all these things. Known unto God are all his works from the beginning of the world. Wherefore my sentence is, that we trouble not them, which from among the Gentiles are turned to God: But that we write unto them, that they abstain from pollutions of idols, and from fornication, and from things strangled, and from blood. For Moses of old time hath in every city them that preach him, being read in the synagogues every sabbath day. Acts 15:12-21 KJV The 7th day of the week is the Sabbath for all and a commandment to be kept by all mankind.
Colossians 2:16 “Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days:” King James Version (KJV)
I love his teachings! However, was Lydia not a pastor? Were there not prophetesses throughout the Bible in the OT and NT? I believe there are other examples of women pastors. I just do not believe what he is saying is accurate on that point here. From my perspective, it goes back to something that he said himself when he said God was doing something different among the Jews and the Gentiles.. That is not to say that God is not the same the world over, or that He plays favorites. But within different cultural contexts, there may be different norms. Why would God call women to preach -- which MANY women bear deep witness to do -- if God Himself were not okay with it? (This is keeping in mind that there were female evangelists, prophets, and pastors in the Bible. And I know people will disagree with me. That's okay.) The Bible also says that there is neither male nor female, Jew nor Greek, slave nor free in Christ. Again, why would Paul write that foundational statement about how God sees us and who we are in Christ, and then turn around and say something restrictive regarding church house administrative announcements related to gender? It might require a little more cultural context in order to answer that question. I just think it becomes a very serious matter when we start policing others -- in this case women -- on whether or not to open their mouths and proclaim the Gospel. I do not want to be that person.
I am not sure if we are to: 1.Believe the Bible only OR 2.Believe the Bible and also the later century historians or theologians writings?? A good example will be the death of the Apostles.... The Bible doez not provide information on all the deaths except 2 or 3 Apostles
Raja Rajan: You raise a worthy point. Since the Bible claims to be "God breathed" and makes the point that it is not derived from "cleverly devised myths" my approach is to take the Bible seriously and historically, while allowing other historical sources to inform our study where they are helpful. I don't personally see how reading an authorized version of the death of the Apostles wouldn't significantly change my view of their writings. Does that make sense?
Randall Smith I appreciate your reply. As for the historical sources being helpful for us,i personally feel that anyone who preaches GOD's message must not include the secular and historical information but rather stick to the information given in the Bible. I know it will not affect or change our Faith but why talk about information which GOD did not reveal. Man as evil as he is might reconstruct the important truths found in the Bible which may affect those new Christians.
it's because god use people to tell the story, and with the amount of convincing energy they are bold. God is a preacher not a writer, why would he have followers? jesus isn't scared of death, He knows his destiny. why we has follower. ask yourself that.
We are separated from Paul's time hundreds of years, so it's advisable to take culture on account. The roll of women has being changing throughout the ages. I simply can't accept that women can't teach or preach in church or anywhere else, under God's inspiration. Perhaps not being a pastor or a priest is understandable for many reasons, but in what a woman is inferior to a man on teaching and preaching? Acctualy, I think they are far better than a bunch of preachers many times!
The myth of Jesus Christ that was began in the book of John continues in the book of acts where the gentile Jew that believed that he was the son of God who had been rejected as a gentile Jew while he was in the grave for only 24 hours. He in the myth would remain in the grave for 84 more hours before rising on the first day of the week at the rising of the sun at the worship of Istar the Queen of Heaven today she is called EasterThe myth of Jesus Christ never talks of the Lord Ani of the Old Testament who came to die for the right to remarry his divorced wife. Isaiah 50 we see the Lord Ani asking where is the bill of divorcement that I gave your mother and for the next three chapters the Lord speaking by the Prophet says the things that will take place on how he will redeem the divorced wife and the children of her. Isaiah 54 opens saying Oh barren wife you have more children than the married wife and he continues to talk to the barren wife that he had forsaken for a moment but never again would he be separated from her.The Lord was born as a baby to the married wife by the way of Mary a Judean of the land of Judah, Jesus was a gentile Jew that was rejected by God before the world was formed, The book of John was written from the false and malicious Jew's report listed in John 1:19 of the events in Matthew 3 when the Lord Ani was dipped in water by his cousin John the Baptist and when he came up out of the water he was baptized with the Spirit of his Father known as the Holy Spirit which was signified by a dove out of heaven which landed on him. then he heard a voice out of heaven saying this is my beloved son in whom I am well pleased. Immediately he was lead away into the wilderness where he was to fast and pray for forty nights and forty days before he was tested to see if he was the real son of God by the Devil, He then heard that his cousin John was in Prison,During these 45 days the myth of Jesus the one being a gentile Jew was begun and it was all a lie from the beginning as any myth is. A ruler of the gentile Jews by the name of Nicodemus comes to Jesus in the middle of the night when the evil and wicked gentile Jew being Jesus the one from Nazareth began to set forth his evil and wicked manifesto to the other Gentile jes of the city of Jerusalem. You must be born again and my father the Devil sent me as his only begotten son for the sins of the worlod and to those perishing and believe in me I will give you eternal life as the sons of God. The myth is exceedingly deceptive with the facts about this gentile Jew that was rejected by the Lord in Matthew 3 and he was rejected by God when he came the next day while the Lord was in the wilderness to deceive the evil and wicked gentile Jews of the city of Jerusalem,The writer of the book of Act actually begins in the last chapter of the book of John and continues the myth in the book of Acts,The myth will become embellished by writers about another gentile Jew by the name of Saul who changed his name and he deceived the gentiles for the rest of the biblical account, It was just religious trash worth only to be burned,The Lord came to redeem the divorced wife from the OT and all others were rejected many times in the book of Matthew for there is only two races of people those of the seed of Adam and those of the seed of the Devil and there is no conversions plans for those of the seed of the Serpent except in the false myth about Jesus Christ and all his lies.
