The open door thing is totally relatable!! I actually go a step further and lock my door when sleeping at night lol. I don't want some intruder able to just walk into my bedroom while I'm asleep! That exact situation happened to a friend of mine a couple years ago actually.
That's the same astute move I do. I always found it weird that people put a lock on the bathroom door where they're awake and vulnerable but not the bedroom door where they're asleep and vulnerable for long periods.

When I was a little girl I’d sleep with my door wide open and would wake up in the middle of the night. There were times I woke up and felt like someone was standing over me watching me sleep, despite no one actually being there. I realize as an adult that even with my door closed, I’d still feel that way. However in those days I was convinced it was because I left the door open. So now I keep my door closed and locked at night. It may seem irrational, but I do sleep better at night as a result.

McKenna is one of the best actors, especially one of the best child actors ever. All the movies, tv shows, and series she's played in, she always nails a role.
Well there's nothing wrong with that. The forethought is how you're going to survive without your parents there. You need to be brave yourself and overcome your own anxieties, because no matter what your parents can do for you they're not omnipresent and cannot solve your own problems as well as you can.

I had the opposite, I couldn't sleep with the door closed since that would leave the room in complete darkness and that scared me too much. It was always open door, and either the hallway or the bathroom light on just so it wasn't completely dark on my room. If there wasn't a bit of light entering the room I just couldn't sleep. Nowadays I feel more secure sleeping with the door closed.
