They're debuting so many groups in a short time and everyone knows that they're not managing the already existing ones. So it's understandable why fans are not excited or content
This^^^^ I’m not sure why people aren’t mentioning this more, they are quick to hate on the new groups like it’s their fault when it’s completely SMs

better than debuting idols who cannot sing
@@flpdesu9538 well the whole fifth gen is more focused on vitality of their music and we don't even know if these guys are good singers so I don't get ur point
Why do you care? KPop is a business gurl! Wake Up!
am honestly intrigued to see the kind of music they're planning to release and the choreographies since they are a dancing and singing group

I just hope they won't end up like Trainee A, people kept waiting on them and supporting them and suddenly they disbanded disappeared
Till this day, what happened to Trainee A still hurts me because I was already a predebut stan 😢. I was ready for them, but it is what it is, unfortunately. I feel like what Riize is doing now is the concept I could see for trainee A, but that's just me. We will see how this goes.
@@CalmnessCaree33 I'm so sorry for what happened I wasn't a fan but I would watch their covers from time to time... The group had a potential to make it big since they resonate well with both Asian and intl fans.... I can't imagine how hard it was for them to disband at last minute and for you guys
I can say Trainee A was the most powerful Trainees Ive ever seen. That time me and my classmates didn't Stan kpop we didn't even know what was Kpop😂 but Trainee A always went viral on my TikTok fyp , RUclips, IG and they got millions followers on IG ,YT, TikTok even just trainees 😂 especially JJ's fan acc hit million followers on Instagram and TikTok so I started to Stan kpop and then they disbanded 😂but fine JJ now under SM ,james , jihoon still under hype, .....

so let me get this straight, everyone’s been jumping hybe for months saying they were trying to “take the k out of kpop” all because bang pd said he wanted to expand kpop and make it even more international, but sm’s ceo is literally trying to be the next simon cowell and people are suddenly ok with it because they’re “trying something new”??…kpop stan’s logic be all over the place 😭😭
Yeah 😂😭
kpop was never truly korean so those kpopies are just dumb af lol, kpop is an amalgamation of mainly western and other music
kpop songs almost always have english lyrics showing their willingness to target international market, i honestly think this british group will be received well if the music is good, apart from kpopies who'll hate bc they are fetishizers and arent into kpop for music
👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 hypocrisy runs rampant in this genre lol. This genre CONSISTENTLY has ish going on lol. 😂
The majority of K-pop fans are okay with it bc debuting a British group won't affect the identity of other K-pop groups so it can't be compared to Bang PD wanting to remove the "K" from K-pop, understand the difference!
@@hwaiting_sunshineYeah, plus British groups have always existed so I don’t know why people are comparing them to K-Pop
I’m excited tbh I’m just curious what SM will give their British boy group a concept or they will not have have one overall I’m excited 😝
I was honestly surprised when l heard they were making a new British boy group but lm glad they have subtly decided to try new kpop groups outside of korea !!
In my opinion that's kinda good but for other people that's not really good because people actually want kpop to stay in the Korea side not go to the western side so ldk how people are gonna feel about that.

All we can do is, to wait and watch
It will certainly be interested to see what comes of it. Will they sing in Korean or strictly English? Will their music have a distinctly KPop flavor, or will it sound like just another Western boy group, mimicking the vibe of the 80’s boy groups? Will they wear makeup and offer a pretty boy aesthetic? If they don’t have a distinct and fresh image and sound, I think a lot of people will just yawn and write the whole concept off as a gimmick. It will garner a lot of attention for a bit, to be sure. But then what?
Their a British Group so probably English
@@AimingLVits not probably. It will be english. SM’s contribution to this group is just the training. Everything else is handled by another company.
i’m sure they’re likely gonna be strictly english.. why make them sing Korean unless they’re purposely performing Korean songs, i’m sure they’ll be like VCHA who will just be trained under the kpop system
I think their music style will be like NCT
@@jx86xj i dont think so. That wouldnt garner much attention since NCT basically invented noise music and they're fan favourites.

Tbh the UK and US have a long history of bg and gg. It's just that the West is obsessed with drug addled solo boys and sad girl solo girls. I think it will be hard to launch a UK or US boy or gg in this current Western climate.
I agree
Especially considering that the westerners who do like groups, will probably just stick to the other kpop groups rather these because kpop groups are less niche and have way more fans making it easier to follow and stan them
burning sun-
I agree. Culturally, the interest is elsewhere. SM missed the white boy band craze by about 15 years, lmao
It's been a while that no western big gg or bg has been created since 5th Harmony and OD so we never know, it might work well
True not everyone can be The Beatles anymore.
Not gonna lie when I saw James I was like „WAIT HIM FROM THE SHARP TWINS?? UNDER A K-POP LABEL??“ and I also didn‘t know he‘s British 😭

Bro. You didn't have to call them out like that . 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
LMAO FR
6:54 honestly, that‘s kind of nonsense, since the 1D boys were already pretty young when they were on the X-Factor back in 2010.
Zayn was 17, Liam was 16/17, Louis was 18, Harry was 16, Niall was 16/17 (Idk when the season of 2010 was airing, aka during which months they were on the show, so I’m kinda basing it around what time Little Mix was on the X-Factor and then looked up the birthdays of 1D members and kinda based it around that). All of them were younger then to be the assumed youngest member in the new SM boy group, which is 20. I assume their target audience might be young/teenage girls, just like 1D‘s.
Mark lee will be my bias in that bg 😍
I actually want to see how they do. They sound good
Honestly I'm looking forward to it
NO WAY I JUST WOKE UP AND THIS IS WHAT I SEE?!
I'm excited! I can't wait to meet the boys. I'm so curious about their skills
You can't compare them with 1D
To be honest I think I wasn't into KATSEYE and VCHA because of their concept and music style but this british boy group is very promising. I hope SM gives them an interesting and unique concept
the british boyband might be successful if SM makes their music and creative direction similar to Riize instead of giving them kidzbop tracks and hoping for the best like hybe and Jyp seem to be doing with their western projects.
YES!!!!
I personally can't wait for them to debut. I'm wondering what genre of music they'll debut with, I'm hoping R&B . I just hope Dexter will be treated right especially since he's the only POC in the group, usually when theirs only 1 POC is in the group they're usually the least fave , ignored by " fans " , the media tries to spin a narrative about them & etc . I hope this groups gains massive success .
I am actually soooo excited for this new British kpop group! I think everybody needs to CHILL and stop being hypocrite over kpop groups that have non korean members. Kpop is mostly an industry and less of a "genre" that relies on idols nationalities, especially nowadays.
Those that dream to become a kpop idol shouldn't be bashed because of their origins, that's an everybody's dream and shall it become true!
All the luck and success for the boys!
But they aren’t a K-Pop group, their a British Group
I'm happy to hear this plan. BG from UK sounds great. But SM??? This company never has BG who successfully enters US or UK market.
people are just racists mostly late genZ😂 the hate on white people is crazy😂 them praising black people just for being black😅 i dont get it- these british boy group seems to be talented coz its SM duh- but when hybe debut all korean tonedeaf members its okay? coz their korean😅
@@AimingLVso are nct wish also not a kpop group because they are Japanese?
@@betielamare1293 No, I mean not by their race but what their group is characterized by the company. For example, KATSEYE is a global group, but not a K-Pop group. They will head towards a different direction of music produced compared to other groups under HYBE. Since they are British Group, they may head towards a different style of music similar to other British boy groups. But I found out later why people are saying this. Because they are British Group under a K-Pop company.
I swear this was announced way back in 2023 or something because I can recall some type of boyband filming some tiktoks with a Kpop idol group, but I can't find them and it is so frustrating, because I can't remember who it was exactly and it feels like it has been wiped from the internet... low-key making me feel crazy and feeling like it was a dream plus it does not help that it was a long time either😭
OMFG!!!!! I found it, but I was wrong the one I remembered was called new hope club, another British boyband
Also why are we trying to combine K-pop with UK.. the vibe is just off and doesn't sit right with me🥴
It feels like Dear Alice is trying to become the new one direction mixed with some BTS/kpop or global ambition meanwhile for some reason New hope club collaborated with a Kpop group back in 2023 and blitzers trying to win BGT and ofc the other global groups like Katseye, Vcha, XG etc, but it feels non kpopy like I get people say Kpop is supposed to be ¨based in korea¨, but if every single element of Kpop and every other factor of Kpop is taken away what are you even left with then cuz it sure aint Kpop and why can't they just create a group/boyband without having to mix it with Kpop ... I just don't really like it tbh it feels like it could ruin the Kpop we are used to on so many aspects like just call it a regular ass boyband and be done
plus if they are gonna continue just trying to become some kind of ¨next one direction¨ or ¨next BTS¨they are only going to be second best
@@taleeiring4520 It makes me a bit frustrated too, but in the global market, the companies with the most effective strategies and best products will always be mimicked and asked to be collaborated with. The Kpop industry has been brilliant -- its 2 most major obstacles it had was that 1) countries without a majority Asian population aren't receptive to Asian acts, and 2) they aren't receptive to music in languages they don't know. The Big 4 proved you can still foster an international market with an insane amount of content, and with great styling to make the artists beautiful, and for their concept to change all the time. They knew how to make sure their audience wouldn't get bored. This approach has not been done by a Western boy group or girl group ever.
I think with Dear Alice, SM is going to produce the same type of variety content and do similar marketing as they would with a Kpop group. The difference, as far as we've seen, has been in styling and music -- these boys have a more natural look, and the clip of their song sounds more like early One Direction than Kpop. Not surprising since Kpop sounds a little too chaotic and harsh to really reach the Western mainstream.
IDK I'm curious about this all, I'm gonna be keeping up.
K-pop has become so popular that companies like SM and Hybe and YG are gaining so much profit from it. It seems reasonable that they are trying to expand and experiment with making a British boy band. I mean, this is SM we are talking about, they Love to Experiment with everything.
i like them already because they're talented
the favoritism is hilarious…Hype gets hate for debuting Katseye and Jyp gets hate for debuting Vcha. But everyone loves SM for debuting these boy lmaoooo (also there’s no such thing as taking the k out of k-pop since k-pop wasn’t even korean pop to begin with. k-pop is heavily inspired by black artists and western music. I’m not really excited and SM don’t even take care of their own groups. These poor boys are gonna go through it.
SM is not managing this group, another company is. SM's part in all of this is just the training. They don't even have an office in UK.
I thought the “k” was for the Korean language and ppl at the helm, not for pop being owned by the “k”……
sm and kpop in general dont know anywhere outside of london thus its doomed to fail. sorry but we beat them to it with 1d, sometimes its time to call it quits on needing x amount of groups its obviously to compete with other foreign kpop groups. it seems rare to now find full korean groups which is what originally drew me to them in the first place they were or used to be different now its like unsurprising another meh group i dont care about bc no one my age range is in it. the 00s were easier to follow bg and ggs as well due to low costs and they used to travel further doing small venues for reasonable ticket prices. now all these kpop groups seem to do is huge stadiums that sell out too fast and in typical venues that i dont care to travel too bc it cost more to see them than in the 00s.

I'm excited to watch the show already
K-nets are so hypocritical, they bullied most foreign idols and the new non-korean groups, especially vcha, to hell and back
But now they are supporting this group out of nowhere?
And the fact that they are probably only supporting them because they are under sm, makes it even worse cause they havent even heard anything from the group yet
The double standard is so insane
K netzens didn't bully vcha. They don't even care about vcha. Kpop fans bullied vcha and Koreans aren't racist to white people lol.
I'm thinking this may be because SM is debuting a boy group. K-Pop fans may be jealous at the thought of the girl group members interacting with favorite male idols.
You are very wrong. Korean just don't care. Even western peope hate them. Always. Korean cheer them. Why you guys always generalizing all korean bad way.

what difference does their nationality or race make?? kpop was never truly korean and am assuming most ppl are into the music rather than who or where they're from
@@icyprincessvibe uh no at first kpop was korean fully and 70% of people care where they’re from
@@hakkenn sameeeeee
@icyprincessvibe K-pop was majority Korean with other Asian ethnicities mixed in. That's totally different a full British group
@@icyprincessvibe it’s just the reason why so many Asians love K-pop is because they didn’t have a place to fit in anywhere else. American media didn’t want them. So K-pop was kind of a place for them to shine and now they think has been taken over by another race again just like how Black people felt when white people started doing those things so I can understand.

Huh? Vcha is 1st american group using kpop system? I remember there was this 3 member girl group that debuted around like the 2009ish era. But that girl group flopped. I forgot who they were under. It wasn't a korean company
if a group do pop music in Korean language, it's kpop. otherwise it's not. it's that simple. being British doesn't matter. if someone has a problem with being british, then we can argue how did BP became a kpop group because Lisa is not korean. only the language matters here. But I don't think they will do korean songs. they will be a british pop group but the only difference is they are singing while dancing, and trained like kpop idols. it's the same as KATSEYE and VCHA. But it's good to see a global boy group. reminds me of OD. looking forward to them. 🥰

NCT Wish is Japanese... And they can keep "NCT Hollywood" tbh. Even as just a project name it's gross. Pretty sure this British group isn't being made for K-Pop fans, even if they are using K-Pop training facilities. Just wanting the money of British kids waiting for the next big British boy band.

True as an English person myself, I am not too sure what to feel about this
some crazy people even threw hate to new group ,like what? They should know there are always people waiting for new groups and looking for their vibe especially their artists don't own the company moreover the system of SM was changed they can debut so many groups regularly because they created new centers and subsidiary
I think sm may pull this off better that jyp and hype especially that they studied the two international groups now to make a group that is even better.
A lot of people here trying to gatekeep a culture and style of music that’s not even theirs is so funny to me😅 how are you gonna say you don’t like how kpop is starting to incorporate more foreigners (non Koreans) since according to the logic I’m seeing that’s what kpop is, only for Koreans, but then turn around and support NCT, Riize, Exo, Seventeen, Got7, and others??? Make it make sense, your xenophobia is starting to show😬😬
And no I’m not arguing with anyone this is my opinion, and if you have anything negative to say then obviously I’m referring to you✌️
exactly, K-pop isn't even that original. They take inspo from so many cultures (black, Indian, Arabic, etc.) and add it to their concept. so it wouldn't make sense if they take thinks from around the world but not allow those same individuals to be part of their craft.
@@tyannawilliams4722 THIS, tell em!!!

6:33 I assume they might have, but I would love for them have to no official positions
6:37 PLEASE NO. One thing I hate about K-Pop is how music is being released. They drop 5-7 songs then promote the lead single for like 4 weeks and then move on to the next EP. No proper album being released or if there’s an album being released, they might have the most chaotic roll out in history, looking at you Born To Be by Itzy. I just love when one to two singles are being released, then they announce the album, reveal the amount of tracks and what songs are called. Release maybe one more single and then the album.
6:40 I assume they will to some extent.
6:44 I think that depends on their roll out for releases, cause music releases in the UK are handled very differently to the ones in South Korea. Also what kind of music they will make
If Anakin Skywalker, Eric Roberts from King of Gypsies, Leonardo DiCaprio, Edward Furlong, Bjorn Andresen, Harry Potter, young Johnny Depp, Alain Delon, Timothy Chalamet had a boy band, I will be the biggest fan of them😍, even biggest is understatement for me. But sadly they are not in same timeline and are not interested in boyband 😔.
Is there any or has there ever been any global boy groups??? Like why isnt that popular
How can sm crack into uk market amid of their own groups are struggling to break into both us and uk markets lol-😅
Mind you, SM artistes do decently well in the US, even with SM sabotaging their own grps. Also it might be different this time coz the grp isn't "Kpop" and wouldn't be completely in the hands of SM.
Ppl need to know its not that they arent korean its that they prob wont make it big in UK depending on the type of songs they will sing
I agree
Year 2018 was the best for me when i started to listen to kpop. What is happening now? I miss it. This generation of groups are different
90% of this comment section has me screaming ‘put the kids back in school’. just the lack of media literacy is astounding.
I was about to say that one of them looks like JJ from Trainee A and heck I just realised it was HIM!! 😭 I'm so happy he's so talented!!
Would be surprised if it failed
Hmmmm idk I don't really like the idea of sm making non-kpop groups. I don't even like kpop groups producing westernised music tbh, so it's a whole new level of dislike to see just entirely non-kpop group being linked to sme. It would be fine if they release western music, I just hope for the love of god that they don't try to give the music and vibes of kpop, or sing in korean. If they have their own colour and it is only released in the western market and not promoted in Korea (basically no connection to kpop), that would be fine. But if they keep trying to link everything back to Korea that would be cringy imo.
It's like how Lisa from blackpink is going away from kpop for her solos - her solos don't have a kpop vibe and are not in Korean, so you can't call it kpop. That's fine. But if these guys try to act Korean or mimic that vibe that kpop artists have, that'd be so weird

Yeah no. So it's a British boyband. Not a kpop group. SM should probably focus on making sure their already existing groups are taken care of.
These guys seem cool and are talented (from what I've seen). But just because the company is Korean doesn't mean they are kpop in my opinion.
RedVelvet , they didn't promote them properly for their 10th anniversary
and are the most talented 3rd gen girl group, like what?
SM opted for British Group instead of American. That's literally the only difference. We already have VCHA & KATSEYE, like the video said and they're American. If the Boys are in Korea, learning the Korean training system, then it'll be like them. Now all we need is YG to have one too. Lol. This First Generation Global Groups are coming and I'm ready for it! First XG, then VCHA, recently KATSEYE and now our first boy group!
Let's all thank EXP EDITION, KAACHI and Z-Stars for paving the way!
Am I confused or am I missing something. Why are people calling a British group a K-Pop group
kpop does not mean obligatory korean idol kpop it kind of music as rock and heavy metal
I think it's because they're being trained by a Kpop company.
@@amiyarose9140 Yeah that makes sense, but wouldn’t people just call them a British under a K-Pop company instead. Also since their production of music is going to be a little different and maybe similar to other British Groups.

like i get SM wants to break into the western market even more now with HYBE and JYP but i want ASIAN representation not western artists using asian and kpop influence.. I'm sick of seeing western using kpop to their advantage because of how popular it is.
Why not since KPOP has been using Western music and culture for decades?
What about kpop using western culture as their blueprint since the beginning.
Ikr. All the dumba** commenters are like, the little guy worked so hard and has been recognized but they want to take it away now. Or they’re just all kids and with no understanding of power dynamics. Do they not teach about colonialism anymore? They keep saying kpop stole/copied the western music style when that is an example of the influence it had in the first place. Think about what happened when American soldiers went to Asia.
