  • In this video I go through how I installed SDR Console on my SDRplay RSP1 software defined receiver. This isn't really a how-to video, its more of a "this is how I did it" video.
    You can buy the SDRplay products on Amazon (sold by HRO) ... Links below:

    Try reducing the bandwidth to 1mhz and reduce the gain to around 28db. Going above 1mhz requires a bit more processing power than your current laptop. SDR Console is certainly one of my favourite interfaces.

      Very very helpful to a new user of this software. You should do a follow up to get in to the next level of features

    How do you wire from receiver radio (IF/RX/SPEAKER) and and or separate antanna to the SDRPlay1 and SDRPlay2 units?

      I forgot, I use the FTDX-3000 HF Radio.

    I move my SDRduo to a different computer. SDRuno 1.4.2 is working fine but I can't remember how to get SDR-Console to work. I think I need to install the older API than the one that comes with SDRuno 1.4. I know where to find the older API on SDRPlay website but do I just install it or will that break SDRuno? I have both working on another computer but I don't remember how I got it working. Thanks and have a great new year.

      You should be able to just download and install the latest sdrconsole package from sdrplay. You may have to uninstall whatever old version of sdrconsole you have on that computer first

      @@SevenFortyOne SDR-Console is on the SDRPlay website??? SDRPlay just has a link to SDR-Console and the latest version needs an old version of the API.

    I was wondering if there is any quicker way to start recording the IQ data in Console V3 because in the one here: www.sdr-radio.com/Console/RecPlayback where it says , "Data (IQ) Recording" everytime you click on Record, a popup shows to configure the output folder and if you want to capture a short signal, this introduces a big delay. I was wondering if this can be avoided. Thank you!

    Very informative show. Doesn't look good on MW with all those spikes. I think it might be a problem with the settings in SDR-Console or the SDR. Those spikes are at regular spots. Definitely not stations. Thumbs up and shared.

      Thanks Tom! I think the MW spikes were from my old plasma T.V. - it was on up in the living room and I didn't realize it. That T.V. is notorious for generating all sorts of EMI below 20MHz...

    So do you now prefer SDR Console over SDRUno?
    Also, I've seen videos using the SDRplay RSP1/2 through an MFJ panadapter unit to plug into a ham radio for total control. Will SDR Console do that or do you need to use OmniRig or HDSDR.
    I just got my General Class ticket and am looking at HF radios and I like the idea of the RSP1/2 & the MFJ unit for tuning and control on a larger screen than what is found on the Icon 7300.
    Any thoughts?

      I like SDRuno a little better than SDRconsole for general use, although I think both packages are pretty good.
      I've been thinking of getting one of those MFJ boxes myself for use with my Icom 746pro which is an older radio. I'm not sure if you need the MFJ box for the 7300 - it may may already have a switched RF out port for use with something like the RSP units. If you haven't already, check the owner's manual to be sure.
      Having said that, if you do go the MFJ box route, I'm not sure what software you need to control both at the same time as I haven't set this up myself yet. I think SDRuno has the ability to work with Omni rig, but again, you'll have to look at the specs on SDRplay's website for the official word.

    With this SDR what are you listing to? Short wave or ham? Would this be good for police, fire, short wave? I have no ham but like SW.

    • @SevenFortyOne
      @SevenFortyOne  7 лет назад +1

      You can listen to all sorts of things with the SDRplay - everything you mention above and then some. However, the software doesn't directly decode digital modes or scan (yet) so out of the box its probably best for shortwave/ham listening. Once you get familiar with it and learn the software an what add-ons are available you do more with it.

    how would I decode digital signals with this (p-25) preferably

    • @SevenFortyOne
      @SevenFortyOne  7 лет назад

      I think you'll need a secondary program to do that but I can't tell you what that might be . In other words, SDRuno won't do it by itself. You'll have to pipe the output of SDRuno (or whatever software you use to tune the SDRplay) through a virtual audio cable to a program that can decode the digital modes.

    Why would you choose the SDR console instead of SDR uno?

    • @SevenFortyOne
      @SevenFortyOne  6 лет назад

      Either will work. Some people prefer the sdrconsole gui as it is a bit less cluttered. I like sdruno slightly better myself.

    Worthless presentation. I lost the box that shows frequency and after watching this I still have no clue how to get it back.
