"This should be a show, I would watch that in a heartbeat!"
Me: Cries in utter disappointment at what Paramount+ disrespectfully threw together
😢
I would prefer a movie trilogy with an odst and reach spin-off movie
@@trashboat5388With Bungie's help no less. Sadly that's never gonna happen. 🥲
What would of been cool would be the series starting off with the Spirit of Fire approaching Harvest then a skip to 30 years later on Reach. The entire first season all about Noble Team completing their last mission with the last episode showing Noble 6 handing off Cortana to Captain Keyes.....post credit scene showing the Pillar of Autumn approaching the HALO installation 4.
@@Zeus1701E They should hire you
You did skip a couple of the better trailers though! The live action trailers for Halo: Reach are masterpieces!
Halo 3-Reach era was amazing with the trailers. I'd say Halo 3 had better trailers imo (that she also missed).
Although Deliver Hope from Reach will always be a favorite. Oh the music...
Facts
@@hellerdamon6101 I was really hoping she'd react to the one with the ODST/Marines talking about Chief.
This! 💯
Very glad this comment is here.
Start the games when they released, it’ll build the hype. And a small lore drop, the Spartan 2’s which included John which is the guy in green armor, were kidnapped at age 6 and put through genetic augmentation and training to become super soldiers to fight colonial insurgents, it became a happy incident when the aliens attacked. There are books to fill in and I HIGHLY recommend them all they’re some of the best video game lore EVER!!!
books are great, just got done reading the kilo-5 series
Who made them?
If it´s 343 I´m out.
@@DampLover The books? The first few or so books are from the Bungie era.
Halo: Fall of Reach, Halo: The Flood, Halo: First Strike, Halo Ghosts of Onyx, Halo: The Cole Protocol, Halo: Contact Harvest, Halo:Evolutions. There are also The Halo Graphic Novel, and Halo Uprising comics.
“Happy Accident” not “incident.” Their creation did not foresee any combat vs aliens at all.
@@DampLoverthe 343 novels are good too, don't knock them until you try them
As someone who has played Halo for over 10 years this is very exciting. I would recommend playing in release order.
I'm pushing 20 years now 😭
@@BillyCobbOfficial Hey give me time I'll get there too
@@BillyCobbOfficial But there are only 10 years of good games...
@@terminatrix92 yeah, the first 10
@BillyCobbOfficial 21 years over here, from age 4 to 25
The Halo universe in general is soo good. My only advice is to watch Halo: Fall of Reach. It's an animated show basically explaining the spartan program and Chief's origins. Halo Legends is also very very good.
The first two books also, because they go so in depth.
@@Feeling_So_Gabe Assuming you're talking about the Fall of Reach and First Strike (I like to throw in the Flood, but I know a lot of people don't really like that one since it's just a novelization of the first game's campaign), you may as well throw in Ghosts of Onyx to wrap up the original Nylund trilogy.
@@CABRALFAN27 You're super right, i didn't even think about that trilogy. Great idea 👍🏾
I always liked the flood cause it was novelization of the campaign. I thought that was really cool lol@@CABRALFAN27
All of the Halo books are pretty good.
Fun fact Meg, Keith David does the voice for Arbiter in the Halo series (the one talking at 49:45). You’re more familiar with him from a different epic sci-fi gaming franchise: he’s the voice for Captain Anderson in Mass Effect. He voices a great character in this series as well. 😊
and Spawn
And new voice actor for Zavala.
As a massive Halo fan since it's release I love that your watching these. Also that first trailer was from when it was being developed for MAC as a RTS game before they decided to switch to a FPS.
wow didnt know it was supposed to be a rts first
@@killer0034first was RTS, then they changed it to Third person shooter, and finally ended up with first person shooter.
I'd suggest playing in release order like you did with AC. A lot of the emotion for 4, 5, and infinite is grounded in 1, 2, and 3. Also they're not huge campaigns so theyre easy to knock out in 10-15 hours.
Emphatically agree
Let’s be honest she could probably skip halo 5 all together.
@@TinkerTailorSailorTy honestly the most fun gameplay in the franchise, the story is lacking tho 😬
@@jadepelletier667 yeah I’ll give it huge credit for it’s mission set pieces.
The coolest thing about Halo Reach is that they released a book well before the release of the game that showed how the game was going to end but they still made that incredibly interesting despite knowing the ending. If anything in enhance it.
The Halo Reach novel came out just before the Halo CE game.
Is this real? I did not expect her to even think about the Halo franchise. It’s such a welcome surprise! Hope she enjoys it!
Bruh she said the covenant "seemed sweet" 😂 we know other..wise lol
There was live action 12 minute “documentary” for Halo 3 which truly is a beautiful piece highly recommend it b/c how real & raw it feels. If you gave Halo a whirl, guarantee 3, ODST, & Reach will be your favorite b/c they’re the most human in terms of storytelling
For context with Halo Wars, it's an RTS game not a FPS like the rest of the mainline games. Halo Wars 1 takes place during humanities first contact with the covenant and is set before all of the other games, however it's sequel Halo Wars 2 takes place between Halo 5 and Halo Infinite if non parallel and feeds into the main line games. If the RTS play style isn't your thing IE commanding troops, building bases, researching upgrades, 100% recommend a cutscene watch for context, more backstory on the factions, and on the Spartans.
Believe is still one of the best video game trailers ever made
Starting with the classic trilogy will make Reach (as a prequel) more valueble to you in terms of story, because you will see how it all began.
Starting with Reach will be more smooth entry in terms of graphics and gameplay and storytelling. And even given the fact that playing prequel before the main story is an odd decision, Reach will still provide you with captivating and independent enough story, may you wish to choose this route.
"Still feel bad that we're killing the aliens though. they seem nice."
...remember reach...
Definitely play the originals through the Master Chief collection! They all got a nice little remaster and make them better overall. I think the collection has Halo Reach as the first one since it’s a prequel to Halo 1 but I’d say definitely play them in release order for the best experience lore wise. Also if you have the time check out some of the short films they did for Halo like forward unto dawn unsure where they land timeline wise compared to the games though
Fun fact! The majority of the biggest, most popular musical motifs and popular pieces from halo are all from or re-iterations of music from the first halo game Combat Evolved. The music for Halo COmbat Evolved was written in less than 72 hours by a composer called Martin ODonell!
As someone who's played Halo for nearly 20 years, these kinds of videos will always be my favorite kind of Halo video
I never really realized how much lore Halo Wars 2's Atriox trailer gives you compared to the other games. That Halo 4 trailer with all the childhood flashbacks helps too. It's neat to see the different approaches they take, while the earlier trailers are much more vague.
It almost makes me wanna guess a game's story just from the trailers and write it out, that'd be a fun project! (though I already know too much to do that for Halo sadly).
The Master Chef Collection it has 1 2 3 4 ODST and Reach. I think it has a PC release to.
It's hilarious how much evolved from that first trailer. I haven't seen it since maybe 2001. Holy smokes.
Watches the original trailers for the lore: I am confused.
Yeah, that's kind of a given.
This might be the only time ive seen anyone say "The Covenant seemed nice" lol
It is for me 🤣
Halo music is so timeless and iconic. So much so that whether you're a long time fan, or just jumping in - Marty and Mike's music never fail to give you *chills.* Absolute geniuses of their craft.
Facts 🎯
I was not expecting that voice in the first trailer lol. Master Chief didn’t hit puberty yet. It’s not a trailer but there is a Halo 2 gameplay demo and I’m so salty it was never in the game. That part of the level looked so cool and fun to play. Also a single shot BR, instead of the normal 3 round burst. Halo was an amazing game. A very tragic and sad story. That first trailer always makes me tear up. Also don’t be fooled by the trailers for Halo 5. Some of them are deceiving. 53:22 is the game everyone wanted but not what we got.
“That could be a tv show!” If only….
yup, too bad they never did any TV show 🙃
The original Halo was one of those “first time you play it you lose track of time”games for me. My friend got it and I remember thinking oh this is pretty fun and then suddenly it was 4 hours later.
Going from the Mac World trailer to the Halo 2 trailer was a jolt.
yeah that threw me off lol
Dude, I had forgot the Halo 5 marketing campaign holy😭
The master chief was kidnapped as a kid and turned into a Spartan.
Getting the lore through only trailer cinematics was honestly hilarious, I hope you’ve followed up on it since!
Out of all the trailers the last trailer is when you saw the Halo(the ring planet thingy), the games main focus 😂
Release order is the best way to play. I think the originals hold up very well and the remasters for both the first two games are pretty great. Loving the idea of a playthrough from you!
"I might be missing things..."
Oh you have no idea 😂
yess halo is my favorite sci-fi franchise, the amount of amazing stuff Halo has is something that makes my jaw drop just thinking about it sometimes, I love it so much and I'm happy to see Meg reacting to these amazing trailers 😁
Halo 3 was my childhood. I would recommend playing Halo CE with the original graphics as the remaster is not really true to the original designs pulling assets from Halo Reach. For example the Marines wear Army troopers outfits for some reason. But the Halo 2 remake is amazing they remade everything but kept it true to the original designs and improved on many.
In terms of the play other in the Halo collection Halo Reach (2010) is first as it's a prequal to all the other games. So it released after the Halo trilogy (Halo CE, 2 and 3) and is the last game made by Bungle. Then 343 took over and created Halo 4 and 5 two games with very differant art styles moving away from the more retro Starship Troopers, Alien inspired world of the original games. There's really no lore reason for the change it was a matter of "This is how the universe always looked through the eyes of 343" so naturally alot of Halo fans were upset with the design changes. Then Halo Wars 2 came out and it went back to the original designs with a mix of the new ones. And then Halo Infinite did the same a mix of old and new.
Timeline Order: - Personally recommend this order for new players (Halo Wars 1 can be played whenever as it's set before the games)
Halo Wars (RTS) - Amazing cutscenes though
Halo Reach
Halo CE
Halo 2
Halo 3: ODST
Halo 3
Halo 4
Halo 5: Guardians
Halo Wars 2 (RTS) - Amazing Cutscenes as well
Halo Infinite
I kind of disagree with starting with Reach. It’s much more impactful if you play it after finishing 1-3.
I agree that Reach might be better start point for many people. But the release order might be give people a better rewarding feeling in the long run. Both are good options tho.
I think it would be a very interesting experience to play these games in chronological order, it's not necessary but it's very very cool
Disagree. If you start with Reach you go in with absolutely no context. The impact of the events that happen in that game dont hit as hard. And the end with the pillar of autumn and the "passing of the torch" falls flat, because you wont have any idea of what this sacrifice really did for humanity. Chronological order is a fun thing to do if you've already played through the series once before, and you want to go back and play through it differently. But as a first time player, NEVER start with Reach. It was written with the expectation that you played through Halo 1-3.
Every journey begins with a single step. This was yours. I look forward to walking this path with you.
As a massive halo fan(you can prob tell by my profile pic lol) I'd recommend starting in release order. Also, just like Assassin's Creed, the halo books contain a lot of juicy info the games don't really tell you.I know you like to immerse yourself in the lore and story so reading these books(or looking the story summaries on yt) will really enhance your enjoyment of this world:)
"Is this an alien or a human who is just really different?"
Yes.
Found this randomly suggested but you should play them all and play them in release order. It’s really an interesting universe to learn the lore of. If you play them please put it on your channel I love to see people play and enjoy the series I love. My favorites are Reach and 3. Both nail the feeling of hopelessness and hope very well. I will be sticking around to see you play them.
Halo reach and Halo 3 do make you feel hopeless but so does halo CE since you have a small army and by midpoint of the game they are all dead and it’s just you against the entire covenant and flood
@@RealMightyC I never really got that feeling in CE. But at the time I didn't understand just how bad things were for humanity. I didn't realize until later that humanity lost a lot of people on the ring and I didn't realize just how close humanity was to extinction. Reach was really where it became clear to me that humanity was on the losing side of the war. 2 and 3 made it more evident but Reach is really where you see it first hand. CE to me was a fun sci fi shooter initially it was the next games that got me invested. I feel like if I had taken the story in chronologically I would have better understood just how bad things were in CE. Heck I didn't even realize just how bad the Flood was until Halo 2. I didn't understand a lot of the things and I think that's why I never felt that feeling of hopelessness.
Halo is full of masterpiece
Gameplay
Story
Characters
Soundtrack all is amazing
This is all my childhood , when first halo was released i was 11 years old ❤❤
18:00 the best piece of video game marketing ever. .
36:37 we don’t talk about the Halo show…
Chronological order to play the classics:
-Reach
-Halo CE
-Halo 2
-ODST
-Halo 3
-Halo 4 is optional but worth it.
-Ignore Halo 5 because it shouldn't exist.
Halo is meant to be played Split-screen or Co-op with a friend. Nothing gets the blood pumping like saving the world together.
A campaign can be finished in 1 or 2 days, its mostly linear storytelling so nothing like your witcher 3 campaign ;')
Whatever you feel like doing, i'd love to watch it all.
I've been playing halo since I was 4 years old... Watching you genuinely get excited about this universe even from the oldest trailers makes me so happy I teared up a little 😅 or when you pick up on small little details it made me all giddy
God now I want to play halo co op again! Oh but the halo TV show is so far from what made halo good it's not even worth a watch
I wish you could feel what it was like growing up on this franchise. It was absolutely surreal and I made some of the best friends I ever had with these games. I remember popping in Combat Evolved on my Xbox at 7 years old to this day. I’m 29 now.
Same. Obviously its bittersweet now... Every franchise has a sell by date and Halo is one which has finally imploded. Which is fine btw. Nothing needs to last forever. Halo was a great trilogy with ODST and Reach capping it off nicely. What followed was unfortunate... but it goes to show you cant make a story more meaningful by adding baggage to it. Think of this franchise as trying to improve the game of Chess. It's perfectly balanced, accessible, stylish, complex yet simple. Painting the pieces a new colour or adding a backstory for the Knight does not make it better!
I never thought I’d see anyone so sweet watching the OG trailers. XD
My god seeing Halo 3 “Recon” took me back I completely forgot they were gonna call ODST that
That halo 3 cinematic is one for the ages. So goated
Love the Halo games and the story/lore is the awesome (love the books too!). I'd play in release order - The Master Chief collection has Halo 1, 2 , 3, 3: ODST, Reach, and 4 all in one package with updated graphics for 1 and 2. I'd love to watch a playthrough!
Omg the remaster is so exciting! I had no idea!
@@MegMage Master Chief collection is the way to go if you want to play. You'll have to get five and Infinite separately.
You'll probably have to watch the cutscenes for Halo wars, I'm not sure if you'll enjoy playing RTS games. Just make sure to watch them before playing Halo Infinite.
@@MegMage Not to be contradictory to the stated suggestion, but I'd recommend playing in chronological order for ease of understanding events. So start with Reach.
Dunno, maybe ODST before 3? since it takes place right there (chronologically speaking) might be all the same, though
@@N7AslansHobbit_RyHow will anyone understand what's happening in Reach without the original trilogy? If you don't know anything you will miss a lot of Reach. Reach hits better after Halo 3
aint no way she didnt show the Deliver hope cinematic
That halo 2 trailer , was the most anticipated game ever.
The Halo Soundtracks are ok to stream through RUclips since they aren’t official.
Release order is the way to go and luckily it's very easy to do by getting Halo: The Master Chief Collection. MCC includes Halo 1 (Combat Evolved), Halo 2, Halo 3, H3 ODST, Reach and Halo 4. Both 1 and 2 have updated graphics as well. It goes on sale very cheap now so I recommend it highly.
14:41 The E3 Halo 3 trailer was amazing. I feel only a person who played through Halo 2 could feel the full gravity of it. The loss of Cortana, the threat of all the Halos being able to be fired at once looming overhead, and the cliffhanger ending...
When "FINISH THE FIGHT" flashed across the screen, no one who played through Halo 2 wouldn't be hyped.
36:41 Yes, there is actually two Halo shows! Although only one of them is canon, one being a prequel to Halo 5 and the other being a complete remake/fan-fiction by Paramount and is NOT canon in any way.
You can play most of the games on the “Master Chief Collection”
Start with 1.
Follow with 2.
Then 3. (watch the believe videos.... )
Then 3 wars.
Then Reach.
Follow this with 4.
You can skip 5. It was trash.
Then Halo wars 2
Then infinite.
I highly recommend release order: Halo: CE (classic), Halo 2 (remastered), Halo 3, Halo Wars, Halo 3: ODST, Halo: Reach, Halo 4, Halo 5: Guardians, Halo Wars 2, Halo Infinite. All games except 5, Infinite, and Halo Wars 1 & 2 are available in the Master Chief Collection.
I'm so happy you're going to be able to experience it for the first time. Halo 3 in 2007 was my first experience with the game, and I was hooked immediately. And if you liked the music in the trailers, then you're going to love the games
As a HUGE halo fan I would like to say firstly that I'm watching this video after ALL of your campaign playthroughs!! I enjoyed every moment, and LOVED your genuine reactions to the cinematics/story. If you EVER see this and want more HALO REACTIONS content, go ahead and check out the imfamouse CURSED HALO mod.
"I don't know what's going on but I feel like it's special!"
Oh, it was... *sniff* it was...
Halo Wars (Not playing as anyone in particular, just the UNSC in general)
Halo Reach (An Spartan called Noble 6 as we don't know his name and you fight alongside Noble Team comprised of 5 other Spartans and there were 2 others before you)
Halo 1 (Master Chief AKA John AKA Spartan 117 AKA The Demon)
Halo 2 (Master Chief AKA John AKA Spartan 117 AKA The Demon)
Halo 3 (Master Chief AKA John AKA Spartan 117 AKA The Demon)
Halo 3 ODST (An ODST named Rookie alongside your team of ODST's led by the Man, the Myth, the Legend, Nathan Fillion aka Buck)
Halo 4 (Master Chief AKA John AKA Spartan 117 AKA The Demon)
Halo 5 (Play as Master Chief but also Spartan Locke aka the Hunter from the trailers talking to the Arbiter)
Halo Wars 2 (Same Thing as Halo Wars, the Faction UNSC aka the Humans)
Halo Infinite (Master Chief AKA John AKA Spartan 117 AKA The Demon)
To my knowledge, that's all in order chronologically? (Not in order by release dates, obviously)
Someone correct me if any of that needs to be edited and I'll edit it.
The main first trilogy takes place in the years 2552 and 2553, the first Halo Wars (a Real-Time Strategy game, with the main ones being first-person-shooters) in 2531. The second trilogy stars roughly 4 years after the first one. ODST is in between 2 and 3, while Reach is a direct prequel to Combat Evolved.
Pretty sure the first trailer is from when halo was an rts game. Halo went through a few iterations of gameplay styles, mainly rts to third person shooter, to fps.
I've actually seen that diorama in person. Absolutely incredible.
That Halo 3 'Believe' trailer went so hard back in the day.
Now that you have learned soooo much more about the halo universe, I think it would be so entertaining to see you react to this again. With knowing way more of the lore itd be so interesting for you to hear what your super early thoughts were
Would love to see you play through halo in release order so you can get a feel for where this began as well as some of the surprises you might not know about as long as you are going in blind.
Me as someone who’s played Halo my whole life watching someone try to comprehend Halo for the first time is endearing while also infuriating 😂
I found this ironic, In my library I hold my copy of Leviathan Wakes right beside my Halo collection, and here you are talking Halo with a copy of LW at the background
Chronologically it’s halo reach, 1, 2, 3 ODST, 3 , 4, 5, infinite. Halo wars is its own series but the second one kinda ties into infinite or it could.
36:35 "Is there a Halo show?"
No. No there is not.
Timeline order of the games:
Halo Wars
Halo Reach
Halo combat evolved
Halo 2
Halo 3 odst ( it takes place after one of missions of 2)
Halo 3
Halo 4
Halo 5 gaudians
Halo Wars 2
Halo infinite
There are mobile games but they are not important
There is a TV show but it's not canon and really bad
The company that currently makes Halo has released a convenient multipack of CE - 4 in the form of "The Master Chief Collection." I'd recommend starting there.
Really hope we get to see you do a playthrough of all the games in the future!
>They should make a show this looks great!
Said you and every fan ever, sadly what we got makes me really depressed and I'd rather we pretend it didn't exist.
Start with Combat Evolved. Play them in release order. Combat Evolved is absolutely still worth playing in 2023.
Halo 1 and 2 have remaster and classic graphics in both game, Comes with MCC, and u can switch grapchics of the game during gameplay and cutscenes also. Only Halo 5 is xbox exclusive so no pc port. Other than that all r available.
“That could be a TV show.” Trust me, we all been saying that too.
Play the campaign I would love to see
Definitely start the games in the order they were released. For a bit of background lore, in the mainline Halo games, you play as John-117, who was trained from childhood and genetically augmented to be a Supersoldier called a Spartan. You're in the 2550s, fighting a religious coalition of different Alien species' called the Covenant, who are devoted to eradicating Humanity. You can get a decent enough story just playing the games themselves, but unlike, say, Mass Effect, most of the deep lore is tucked away in the books, which I second all the recommendations that you read them.
The aliens were never nice, but you do get to know them much better in halo 2 and 3.
till this day i still get goosebumps from the theme music
Commenting as I go but i chuckled when she said "imagine if we could play as the aliens"
Halo is a very emotional story. Halo 3, Halo: Reach, and Halo 4 will most likely leave you in tears.
Especially 4.
@@Myomer104 I've watched and played Halo 4 a few times, but it only managed to make me teary eyed one time, and all the other times I was able to get through the "goodbye scene" just fine. But the ending of Halo 3 with the cryo pod (if you know what I mean, no spoilers) makes me tear up every time.
Technically you haven’t watch a Halo Combat Evolved trailer you watch a pre Halo trailer
The Master Chief Collection is now the best way to play the Halo games right now.
the steam game "Halo the Master chief collection" has an option to play the games in chronological order. I would LOVE to see u play this soon.
38:40 actually yes, is chronological first, the ones in the masterchief collection have the next chronological order: reach, 1, 2, odst, 3, 4
The aliens aren't necessarily bad. Just lead astray.
Fun fact: Halo CE was originally going to be a RTS overhead game, then moved to third person, then, with 9 months until release, they changed the entire game to first person and 90% of the finished product was developed in that same time.
39:10 "It's so hopeless, it feels..."
The battle of Reach is more or less the Halo universe's 9/11. There was a lot of buildup to seeing it on screen leading up to when the game came out.
i grew up with halo, my first time playing halo was i believe with Halo: Reach and ive loved the games since, i grew up with almost all the halo games, so its great seeing how far this game series has gotten :D
Hearing Someone say they don't know master chief hurts
A curious detail is that those who made the cinematic trailers for Halo 2 Anniversary, Halo Wars 1 and 2, are the same ones who made those for Assassins Creed, Batman Arkham and Hitman.
I’m throwing my hat into the ring for Metal Gear Solid, on the condition that you play the series on stream if the trailers or whatever you react to interests you, and you don’t spoil yourself with in game cutscenes and stuff ahead of time.
Halo: Reach - "Deliver Hope (Extended)" Live Action Trailer [HD] is definitely one to watch too
There were quite a few really good trailers that you missed, mostly the live action ones as they're widely regarded as some of the best trailers ever to be realised. Check out the Halo 3 trailer "Landfall".
